This was an experience!
The door puzzle grinded the game to an absolute halt. Lack of instructions aside, I don't think it fits in with the game. I would've taken more (and optional) words for the rest of the game than this puzzle 😅
BUT, it was a great experience. Glad I played it!
I think you’ll find that the post-jam version makes the door puzzle take much less time. There is a hint of you want it, showing the partially completed puzzle, sound for when they click into place and instructions on the screen. I just didn’t have time to get it in, unfortunately 🥲
glad you liked the rest of it. Hope you weren’t too harsh on the score 😅
Don't worry, I wasn't ^^
Finally played it!! You can see it here!!
Very clever puzzle game and really great voice acting! Still sad that the big adventurer in the tiny house couldnt go on the adventure!
such a clever play on scale, awesome job
:D
Excellent that the choice of words affect the game. The story is quite. When playing in full screen, a part of the game is unfortunately outside the screen. Love the voice acting and very funny dialogues. The puzzles are small and fun. Great job!
I’ve noticed the full screen thing can happen, but a refresh usually fixes it. I don’t think that’s a thing I can fix: seems like an engine bug. Sorry that it happened to you. I suppose it could also be related to screen aspect ratio: the game is in 16:9 so if your screen is different maybe that causes issues 🧐
glad you liked the game! :)
bunny :)
Cute story, the wrong answers made me laugh, well done!
Wooo! Laughing is good for you!
Great game, really enjoyed it well done!
Great!
Generally a very strong entry!~ Very charming and a lot of fun~
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
I actually didn't know I could use the scroll wheel to change the scale of the puzzle pieces in the final puzzle, so I was very confused, wondering why the pieces couldn't fit. I was stumped until I read the game page. My recommendation is to indicate that the scroll wheel can be used, or simply have double-clicking change the scale (Since that's the first thing I tried).
Yeah, it's just a time issue. I have a version with instructions, a hint and audio feedback implemented. Didn't have time to upload it.
I'm glad you liked the game, though :) Post jam version gets uploaded after voting!
That's total fun to test all the wrong answers:)
Super fun!
spider senses telling me you should definitely look into intractable story games for children, they would love it!
My fiance and I are already considering the option of seeking grants to make little things like this to teach the meanings of words etc. It has potential :D
Once upon a time there was a game jammer who was rating games, like usual, they were picking games completely at random, and the dice decided it was time to play a curious game called "A Big Small Adventure". The game jammer ran the game, expecting yet another puzzle platformer, but was surprised to see a minuscule tale created lovingly by a grand team... Wait, that's not right... Let's do that again. The game jammer ran the game, expecting yet another puzzle platformer, but was surprised to see a grand tale created lovingly by a miniscule team.
As the game jammer continued playing the game, they realized that it had voice acting! "Very impressive" the game jammer thought to themselves. They loved every second of the game, giggling at the narrator narrate the wrong versions of the tale and enjoying the nice break the puzzles provided from the regular gameplay.
As the game came to an end, the game jammer thought to themselves "What a creative take on the theme this was" and left the game with a good rating and a comment that may be too meta for it's own good.
There once was a developer named, 'Langotriel'. Like every other developer, they enjoyed it when other jam participants were fascinated with their games, and expected comments. However, when he thought he had seen it all, he came across a comment so long and so meta, that he couldn't help but join in the silliness for the length of his response.
"This must surely be the longest review I'll ever get", he thought to himself.
The commenter went by the name of'Tameno'. They had created a game of their own with the title: "sizeboarder".
The developer figured it seemed logical that they return the kind review with another, after playing the commenter's own jam submission.
With that, the developer thanked Tameno for playing and set off on the quest to play their game.
Unfortunately hit a bug where I couldn't get the slime puzzle pieces to scale as directed and couldn't continue, but I really enjoyed the concept and the narration lots!
Slime puzzle? You mean the door puzzle? Strange that you have that issue. I don't suppose you could try another browser? And full screen is recommended.
Whether you try that or not, thank you for playing and thank you for the kind words! :D
Really fun narrative-driven puzzle game. I really like the art, it's very cute!
Loveit
loveyou
Oh man, I feel bad for the wolf, haha. It was really funny to mess up the solutions and listen to the narrator complain. It's a very lovely game, especially because I'm a writer myself.
Don't feel bad for the wolf. It kept a
petty vastlittle bunny hostage!Such an adorable game < 3 The narrator really brings you into the storybook feel, and seeing the wrong options illustrated and voice acted was also nice (although I would've loved to see them expanded on more, I understand the jam's time limitations though). One thing I do have to say though-- that door puzzle had me going crazy because I didn't realize you could scroll to resize objects. Aside from that, if you guys have the time, we'd also appreciate if you took a look at our game : )
gaaah. Sorry about the puzzle: I didn’t have time to implement the instructions in-game. The narrator strongly hints at it, but I know I needed more. Post-jam version has sounds for when they click into place, instructions on how to play and a hint if you need it (releasing it after voting). If I had 2 hours more it would have made it in, along with all other missing stuff.
glad you enjoyed what we managed to make :) and yes, expanding it would be sweet but it took an immense amount of work to do what we did.
2 choices mean 2 outcomes are possible. 3 choices mean 6 outcomes are possible and so on. If they all lead to more options, it gets out of control fast 😅
Wonderful! Stanley parable meets interactive puzzle gameplay. This made me inspired to want to play (or make) a version where the story can continue with whatever we pick. Great Stuff gang!
Although stanley parable wasn't something that inspired the game, the way it turned out definitely has some stanley parable vibes.
Be warned, if you make a game like this where all the choices allow you to continue, there would be a ton more work to do. Most games don't allow for "meaningful" choices because the result is that a player only ends up seeing 20-30% of what you make.
That said, if you could motivate yourself to actually complete 3 full games worth of content in this style, all as different paths, it would be pretty cool.
Loved it! The story is really cute :)
I was thinking to show this to one of my students with reading disabilities, but I hesitate to do so because of two things: blood and too many pieces for the door puzzle. Those are fine in the context of the jam, but I suggest a more cartoonish defeat for the wolf and a slightly toned down puzzle in the full release (yes, I think this game should get a full release!).
It's interesting that you say that, because we have been thinking we could make games like this and market it towards schools/teachers to teach the meaning of words in a fun way.
The post-jam version of the game will include better tactile feedback for the puzzle as well as a hint that shows where some of the puzzle pieces go, making it easier to get through. If you want me to make an altered version with a slightly less violent defeat of the wolf, I can do that quite easily by removing the wolf laying there dead. So it would just be the tired rabbit left.
Just replayed the game and found the petty bunny. XD
Really cute game, the art is excellent and the voice acting is superb!
thank you! 😊 how wonderful that you like it!
Looks cool, but I've stuck here, how to pass?
like the narrator said, you have to pack all the food as well as the biggest weapon that will fit.
:)
