Wow alot of polish incredible work. Game was fun to go around and that music oh yeah I can get behind that all the way.
10/10 have been getting my matches in bulk ever since downloading!
Wait sry wrong app...
Ok the music in the night is boping!! It's a bit hard to rap you head around the mechanics at first but once you get them it seems to get easier. Though I do think the enemies are a bit too aggressive (and a bit faster than the player), and I feel like the player doesn't have enough health, I think having a upgrade system for the gun and item collection would make this game funner too. I think you can implement that every time the player changes size!!
Going to be featured on tonight's livestream!!
Good idea! I love the minimap along with the day-night indication. I see the classic moving sideways makes you go faster than horizontal or vertical directions problem with 2d game movement, but I used that and the dashing mechanism to my advantage for running away from enemies faster. It was fun! It would be nice to encounter enemies of different sprites than just circular ones. And it would also help to have some life spawning (not sure if it does but I didn't encounter it). Overall fun game with a good gameplay loop.
You gain health every two size increases
I like this one! A lot of games struggle wit balancing the games progression but here the challenge rises at a steady pace. I enjoyed paling it. I with there were a few more mechanics to make the gameplay deeper
I dig the vampire survivor element of this. The enemies could've maybe used some more work, but they were satisfying to dodge around and keep at a distance. I don't know what I was supposed to do when I ran out of ammo though, maybe I missed something there. Didn't encounter any bugs, played great. Nice job!
Grinding resources in the grinder at the center of the map gives you more ammo
It's clear that the team wanted to build so much more into this, but what we got was an enjoyable survivors-like where scale is a satisfying growth vector. Forcing the player to deposit their experience is an interesting approach that I think could be an ingredient in the genre's longstanding struggles with level design.
I originally thought the game may be a bit too slow but then I managed to get my first level up and immediately felt the boost. I ended up enjoying it!
I do agree with some of the other comments, perhaps having a bit more accuracy or having resource spawn be slightly more generous during the day could make you feel more powerful, if just ever so slightly. Also I liked the minimap, but I think I could've used a waypoint to the grindstone. I couldn't find the center the first day and night
all in all, a good entry and an enjoyable loop. Good one!
You know, at first I was going to leave a 3 star review for not following the theme, but then I just realized you're SCALING the camera as you level up and realized that that was a GREAT idea in the creativity department (definitely 5 stars there). The game is a bunch of fun to play too, and the art style reminds me of the old .io games I used to play as a kid. Great job!
I don't like vampire survivors so I'm gonna be biased
I do like the idea of having a day cycle in a vampire survivor game and having these different phases
Audio is nice
I'm not a fan of the art, but the effects and stuff are nice
The minimap is a nice addition too
The items that despawn in front of me are frustrating, and I think it's fine to have them be fixed and only disappear when night comes
I would have preferred if the enemies disappeared during the day
When you reload, the first bullet you try to shoot goes in a weird direction, probably because of the gun animation
I got HOOKED! Great job, it's a pretty simple concept but implemented nicely and I felt the theme being represented in all its aspects. Great job!
I enjoyed the animations. Though the weapon is pretty hard to aim given it's spread. The balance of gaining resources to fighting enemies is on point though. Pretty good stuff overall.
Game was fun and well made! Those small silver enemies are brutal, especially as you scale larger!
High score ended up being about 272 with a 2.5x scale.
I feel like the spread on your weapon is pretty high, especially as you scale. It made it very hard to hit enemies at times.
If you return to this post-jam, I might recommend increasing clip size as opposed to adding ammo when you grind resources. After the first night, ammo quantity is kinda inconsequential and it didn't really feel like a significant mechanic.
Also, your itch page looks great! Nice work!
If you stand still you have less spread (although yeah still spreads a bunch when you have a fast fire rate). More ammo also increases your fire rate
Fair, although it feels like there's almost no reason to stand still when you have to move around to collect resources, when the enemies are as fast as they are and when you're incredibly fragile.
Interesting that more ammo increases your fire rate. I had noticed that but I wasn't sure what was causing it, so I figured it was linked to scale progress somehow. If you wanna stick with that, I might also suggest increasing reload speed; at some point high fire rates become marginally impactful.
Great work regardless!
I enjoyed finding windows to grind stuff up inbetween smashing enemies, nice loop!
I loved the push and pull of gaining resources during the day and fighting off enemies during the night! I kinda wish getting bigger had a greater mechanical impact aside from upping your damaged numbers. Managed to get up to 3.5x scale
Really fun top down shooter just wish the enemies where a little less aggressive and would disappear when daytime comes. Also, it was annoying to see a resource disappear when it was in my view and I was on my way to it. It would have been good to keep them from despawning if they are in view.
Super fun top down shooter, I was only able to get to 1.5x scale, but I had a lot of fun swapping between shooting, getting resources, and grinding. Awesome entry love the animations
Nice game. The crafting mechanics is a nice addition to a twin stick shooter.
You can definitely expand on it, and make something deeper!
I was a bit confused, especially when I ran out of ammo. But the game is really fun, there is a lot of polish in it and that's nice.
If you didnt figure out how to get more ammo theres a grinder at the center of the map that gives you some when you put resources into it
I noticed yes! I replayed a bit and found the game fun.
