This is a rather nice idea for a clicker game, but it's lacking gameplay as it is right now.

Submitted

I agree with Miniver Games: the game is rather eye candy, and even looks ‘professional’ (as for graphics and sounds), but the concept is lacking in interest. I am sure some mechanics could have used those visuals and gotten them somewhere!

On a side note: I feel it’s a bit dishonest to use a tawdry thumbnail and ask for people to put their scores so as to gain points on the ‘Popularity’ meter… I was wondering during the voting phase why the game was always showing (apart from the thumbnail), now I get it. :/

Developer

If you think that popularity was gained only due to the "records" of users and I forced users to write them, then I don't know how to describe you, superficial or something (IDK :P)

I went out of my way to give lengthy and very detailed reviews for a lot of games, including many less reviewed ones. ‘superficial’ is certainly not the kind of flaws I have — I do have others, granted. ;)
I don’t say you ‘forced’ users to write. I am saying you used a classic psychological mechanism to achieve some wanted result — which is what happened (many a YouTuber uses it: ‘Hey, if X, tell me in the comments!’). The responsability is shared between the one that knowingly uses the mechanism and those that blindly rush into it, so I am not saying people are not to blame.

Nevertheless, please explain why you think your game was so popular then. I am all ears and am ready to change my mind if you convince me. To be precise, I am not saying there are no other reasons (such as promoting the entry elsewhere), but I still think what I identified is a factor that comes into play.
(I notice you resorted to a personal attack instead of a genuine defence of your game, which is unfair and sounds like you could not justify what I pointed out — otherwise, you would have given an answer. In contrast, I did not judge you in general, as I do not know you, I merely judged what I saw from the entry, and I stand by what I have said.)

(By the way, my assessment was the same as  that of some others that came here, I did not even indulge in bashing the game — I never do this. Were I really superficial, I would have said your game was totally unworthy on the mere basis of the ‘gain-popularity’ issue, which would be dishonest; let me reiterate that the visual, audio and ‘feedback’ aspects sound professional. That was quite a compliment!)

No hard feelings, but please do not indulge in attacking someone’s character as a way to defend your game. I am not an aggressive person and I always feel this kind of behaviour to be overtaxing. I would be glad to be mistaken. :)

Oh no, a lot of letters, I won't read, save my mental health :P

(Just kidding)

In fact, I was really wondering how many clicks it would take to "beat the game" on average :)

The only thing I did on purpose that can be attributed to the impact is a preview.

The ‘lot of letters’ bit was triggered by your own answer. ;) (Neuroticism is one of my aforementioned flaws. :p)

In fact, I was really wondering how many clicks it would take to "beat the game" on average :)

Fair enough! But this could be computed by using the parameters you defined in the code. ;)

The only thing I did on purpose that can be attributed to the impact is a preview.

All right then.
To be frank, what bothered me is that I keep thinking of all those entries that get very little notice (even when they are super worthy) while some other games such as yours kept coming to the top with a nagging thumbnail (and yours didn’t help! XD), but I guess you are only half responsible.
Case closed, I am happy you made a nice answer in the end. :D

Of course, I would like there to be few or no comments like your first one.

But unfortunately this is my first Unity game and first try in game jam. (You can interpret this however you like :D)

Oh, I’m sorry I sounded harsh… <:( Didn’t realize it, nor that you were a beginner.
I apologize, I thought you were some trickster who knew all the ropes of getting up in the rankings and that you did not really care about reviews.
You should really read again the part about your game sounding professional, then, that’s what is encouraging; add some mechanics and the game will be more interesting! I’m sure there was only little lacking. Something that would give the player some choice/action, actually. :)

(This is what I should have written as a complement in the first comment, as I usually write constructive criticism, but once again, I erred persuaded you were an experienced guy; my bad! This was a misunderstanding. I must say the thumbnail made me mistrustful.)
(I guess we should both have been nicer from the start. Let that be a lesson! ;))

Maybe in the future it will turn into a full-fledged clicker for phones with all it's pros and cons :)

Submitted(+1)

321... Its just clicking, and yet... why is it so mesmerizing...?

Submitted(+2)

Well... I'm not sure the last one can be considered a dice anymore. XD

It took me exactly 300 throws to finish (which is a neat round number).

I didn't think the game would keep me interested in just clicking for so long...

good job :)

Submitted(+2)

It’s crazy how I didn’t know it was a dice until you pointed it out :)

Submitted(+2)

Thats a addictive clicker game.

Submitted(+2)

Polished and surprisingly addictive, although I'm not a big fan of the music. 301

Submitted(+1)

A nice upgrade on the old clicker games, very zen. Although is it just me or when the music loops it sounds like a gun being cocked? 362 btw

Developer

It's cassete sound :)

The game looks not bad and it's kinda satisfying to roll the dice. However, there is not much gameplay at all, pressing a single button is literally all you do and it gets really repetetive.
Unfortunately, the presentation is the only good thing I can say about this game, and even that is, while well-made, pretty simple. This game is much less interesting to play than other clicker games, there are no upgrades or literally anything other than just clicking, and nothing interesting happens as you progress, the dice just more and more look the same.

I think my main problem with this game is that it is too predictable. Yes, we know the die is going to get bigger the more we click on it, but what else?  I'm not a fan of clicker games because they all eventually cease getting fun for the same reason; we know that the number is going to grow forever, and because I know that is what is going to happen, why should I continue?

On the plus side, this game feels complete. It has art, sound, music, good player feedback, and graphics. The presentation is a solid 5. Yes, the game is therapeutic and relieves stress, but it feels more like I'm playing with a virtual stress ball than a game.

My score was 320.

Soothing and so polished <3.

317, much more polished than I expected from the cover.

Cool clicker

Submitted(+1)

Had no idea what to expect there with that title screen! But turned out to be relaxing and therapeutic. Good game to wind down with. Nice soundtrack too. Good work with this!

317 was my number

Submitted(+1)

Soothing aesthetic; good for those who like clickers.

Great game! I enjoy this game, Impressive game in such a short time. Great job!

Feel free to check my game if you want to challange your brain muscle!

At what point does a dice becomes a sphere?
With this game, we're gonna find out :D

Submitted

PS: I think it's at level 7?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

It depends how you look at it :)

Submitted(+2)

Has a look of a very polished game, but there's not a lot of game in it

Submitted(+2)

Very pretty. Not a lot going on gameplay-wise, unfortunately.
