Nice concept! :)

Submitted (1 edit)

I love the idea very much. However, as you said in the description, there is some balancing to be done. I got stuck on a slime with 45 HP, because both it and I had crazy high defence and not enough attack. So, I sat there for nearly 15 minutes and only once was damage dealt.

My bag composition was:

ATK: 3xd6, 2xd10, 4xd20

DEF: 5xd6, 4xd20

EDIT: This could be mitigated with critical miss/counter system where if you ATK roll is much lower than the enemy's DEF, you get damage instead.

Cool visuals and the gameplay was entertaining. It would be nice to have something more to do because the wait times seemed too long sometimes, but really good game

Nice art and rouge-lite aspects, but the game itself is not too engaging to play since the player has to wait quite a bit before they can do anything. Some more interactivity would be nice.

I really enjoy the idea of the player nudging fate in different directions – that's a really cool concept for how a player could interact with a game. I think perhaps the difficulty curve needs to ramp up a little earlier and a little more smoothly. That aside, this is the kind of mechanic you could really spin out into a full game.

Oh, and the art is fantastic! Characterful, lively, well animated. It really added a lot to the experience – some really nice enemy designs!

I'm sorry but fun isn't really on point. Everything is cool and combat is well thought, but there's too few things/decisions/actions to take and combat can sometime take quite some time so we're just slowly witnessing.

I've read a few comments and for me balance/randomness isn't an issue, it's part of the game but the frustrating part is that it can get dangerously boring, especially with the "rogue-lite" approach when you die you have to restart the whole game.

I think simple things like rolling the dice ourselves could easily hook the player far better in the game, it's just an idea but there may be other things to think of

Great game.  Progression is great.  I killed the third boss then go stuck in an unending battle where my attacks never got through and the enemies attacks never got through.  Perhaps the enemy should get a small bonus in each subsequent round of battle.  Then you could die, upgrade and fight again!  I had a lot of fun with this.  Great job

The game is really cool and fun, the only problem is that the first few enemies were no threat at all and then suddenly the next enemy easily killed me (i had only invested in luck up to that point), the jump up in difficulty was too extreme.

At first the tutorial text scared me a little because there was a lot to remember. But after the game starts you get the gist of it really quickly

It is very hard to make a balanced game that includes randomness, and I think you did a really good job on making it fair and enjoyable (even though I got multiple times into situation where both me and the enemy had low attack and high defense, and we were just missing each other for 5 minutes until someone got lucky to land a hit :D).

Really like the permanent upgrades mechanic that adds sense of progression and "becoming stronger" feeling.

Anyways, game is fun, presented well and very enjoyable. Hope you find a good way to make it more balanced after the jam :)

Cool submission!

Game is looking quite nice, with its pixel art. It does seem that there's different resolutions for the art itself, though. It's usually a little nicer when it's all in the same resolution.

The game doesn't seem very balanced. Something like the fourth enemy can just smack you dead without you being able to do anything about it, whatever choice you made.

The tutorial could have been split up a bit more. The card in the beginning is just a wall of text with a few images, but it wasn't all too clear what was going to happen from just that.

The animations and idle aspect get a bit stale after a while. It would be great to have a fast forward button of sorts, so you can skip most of the dice rolling.

Overall, great concept though, and nice execution. I think this can be a great (hyper)casual mobile game if you spend some time improving the balance and flesh out the experience a bit more!

The mechanic is fun, but I had some fights go on forever due to the enemy always defending my attacks and wise versa. Visuals look great tho and with some tweaking, this might actually be really fun.

Nice deckbuilding mechanics and great visuals. The game is a simple autobattler yet it has great depth especially with different dice decks and dice types. I just wish there was a speed up option because sometimes the battles took really long.

Dice waifu + deck building = instantaneous win! Maybe the dice rolls could be faster or done by the player for more fun, but overall a very good experience!

Hey cool game you got here. Really represents the theme well too with not just it being random with dice, but including numerous different types of dice too. I liked how better dice were essentially upgrades.

The presentation with the graphics and music were all really well done. Also which dice to choose also added a nice gameplay element. I suppose one... issue? (maybe this is common with autobattlers, haven't played many myself)... I came across is I did have about a 5 minute battle with the forest polar bear that felt like it was dragging on since I had high defense and lowish attack. Maybe it's the game trying to present an epic battle since I had lost to the forest polar bear my first run?!? It did seem like the game did start rolling dice faster during the battle so that was appreciated, but it was a bit irritating to keep watching both of us miss. I wonder if maybe after a time passes an auto-resolve feature could come up.

Otherwise though very excellent game! Good work on creating this!!

Really liked seeing a cool autobattler in this jam - it did end up playing a bit slow considering how much of the game was just waiting for dice to roll, so would've been nice to see something like a speedup feature?

Otherwise very well done - good incorporation of the theme into your game!

Nice to see somebody else take on a dicey auto battler! Great artwork too.

I'm beginning to realize by rating all these games how satisfying rolling dice can be. I like how each die choice feels very meaningful and clever. I would like to point out that I put all of my dice in defense and regret that. The logic was if I have a high enough defense roll I can't get hit, which was true, but it meant I got stuck in a boss fight for like 10 min. Clever game though, it almost played itself but was fun to watch.

I got quite far, but ended up stuck against a slime. Neither of us could hurt each other even if I was rolling over 90 on the attack dice because it kept rolling over 100.

The fights felt a bit long, so maybe there’s something to do around giving the player something to do while the fight was happening.

Best I've played in the jam so far, I really enjoy this game. One thing I will say is that there is a soft lock if two battlers have high defence but low attack, e.g. polar bears.

A fun game with great art
