A neat little game! Bullets probably could've used a little more speed - since you have to move in the direction you want to shoot, I found it pretty hard to hit enemies up close without just straight up walking into them. And boy did I spend my first few attempts getting absolutely rolled by rooms with a billion enemies in them! But getting past that, there was some fun to be had. Keep working on it!
Thanks! I'll keep working on it, and the combat mechanics will definitely be a bit more balanced in the post-jam version!
Enjoyed the game! Was simple but fun to play. I think there might have been a little input lag on the shooting, but it might be in my head, not sure. Nice work :)
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Nice little game (especially for less than 24 hours!), I liked the art. I definitely think you should stay facing in the direction you're moving when you stop instead of facing downwards when there's no input. As it is, you're kind of forced to move towards the enemies unless they're south of you.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll change the shooting mechanics in the post-jam version, so be sure to check it out after the jam ends :)
Well done on getting this out on your own! The aesthetic is fun, and I didn't mind the random firing direction (though maybe the target direction could remember your last faced direction, or even go full twinstick style). The first few playthroughs the second room was 20 enemies rushing me with no obstacles and it felt like there wasn't much I could do. Bad luck I think because I had a few good runs after that.
Upgrading weapons, loot and things would make this a compelling roguelike
Thanks for the feedback! Shooting mechanics will be changed in the post-jam version.
Yeah that was probably really bad luck, since the max amount of enemies per room is only 12 iirc :)
Nice game, the one hit death and default down direction makes it a bit difficult but overall pretty good
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked it :)
Pretty challenging, but nice job getting this far in less than 24 hours! I am curious to see the post-jam version :)
Thanks! Glad you liked it :)
Interesting concept, slightly frustrating gameplay. I think I've only seen 2 cow-boy style games through which at least puts it in a very unique aesthetic area. I'm overall a fan of the game though despite the mild frustration at the random firing direction mechanic.
Thanks for the feedback! The shooting system is definitely getting an overhaul post-jam. Glad you liked it despite the frustration :)
Of course. It'll be a fun game to play once the postjam update game is out :3
I think I'm too stupid to play this ^^ Did never manage to leave the second room. The rng of the bullets direction is a fun idea, but since the character always looks down while not moving it is insanely hard to get away from the (faster) enemies while shooting them.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely balance the difficulty if I do a post-jam version.
Fun little game! I haven't seen a lot of Rouge-like style games in the jam so far. If you wanted to improve I suggest some form of high score with like screens cleared or a currency you get in each screen that you can use to upgrade your weapon for next time.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll implement a currency or something similar in a post-jam version.
I like the intro cutscene and menu theme, visuals in game are kinda confusing tho. it's difficult to distinguish walls from background objects and characters look way too detailed compared to the environment.
Skeletons are way too fast, I don't know if the name of the game is referencing to that (as trying to escape by going back is impossible) but it makes a lot of the encounters unfair. Moving diagonally makes you move faster and I had to abuse that a lot. Having to go towards the enemies to be able to shoot is an interesting mechanic tho.
Nice choice of music. Good game overall
Thanks for the feedback!
I think the idea is pretty good, but the execution could use a bit of work. I think starting in the same area every time is nice. A couple things I think would benefit: The gun needs to be a bit more accurate. I'm not sure if it was a bug but there were times when I was right up next to a skeleton and shot and it didn't go down. The number of enemies needs to be reduced a bit. Sometimes it's just outright impossible to get through because the rate of fire doesn't seem to be high enough to get through them all. Great job with the graphics, especially the opening cutscene, it was very thematic!
Thanks for the feedback! The directions of the bullets are supposed to be a bit randomised to add some challenge. I tried reducing the amount of enemies, but I felt having less enemies made the game too easy. I'll try to fix these issues in a post-jam version.
Nice! The game art is really impressive (intro cutscene!) and I liked using the environment to help defeat the hordes of enemies. The slightly randomized bullet direction adds an element of risk and forces you to get dangerously close to the enemies in order to hit them. The best strategy I found when being chased is to get above the skeleton(s) and stop for half a second to shoot. Else, having to walk towards the enemies to aim makes it hard to stay alive.
Thanks!! Actually, this is my first time animating anything, so it's great to know that I didn't do a terrible job :) I'll tweak the randomness and shooting mechanics a bit for the post-jam version.
Nice game! It is a well-built game and I liked how it is linked to the theme! The art is cool! If you did this alone: HATS OFF! Nice time management!
BEST OF LUCK:)
P.S. Check out our game too.
Thanks!! Yes, I did this all alone (except the music; didn't have time to compose anything at the end so I had to resort to using royalty-free tracks).
I'll make sure to play your game (probably tomorrow).
Its insane to me that you had the time to make that art. Especially the intro screen art. Cool entry :) GJ
Thanks!! Actually, I spent most of day 1 just making the art and animations, so it's really nice to hear that :)
Hi, your game doesn't support macOS or linux, because '.exe' files only run on Windows, and they are the only file types provided.
Thanks for pointing out!
