The puzzles are very well designed, had to think some time on #4

The dark closing in looks very nice

Maybe the movement or controls could use some tweaking, at least make the boxes also slide on the floor same as the player character does

Overall nice game, I've had fun, great job!

Really liked the idea of a puzzle with the void closing in.

Managed to beat all the levels and agree with others on switching 4 and 5.

A difficulty setting to control the speed of the void would have been good, think you are going to lose too many people with that setting

Agree music and sound would have really helped this game.

Thanks for submitting it was  good puzzle

I really like the idea of this with solving the puzzles quickly before the lights go out :) I wish there was a restart button? As soon as I started level 2 I immediately realized I messed up, but had to wait and watch as the darkness consumes me...

I'm not sure if this was just me, but was it intentional that you pressed a movement and have to keep pressing it to move, rather than the normal holding down in that direction? Very fun idea though!

Satisfying and well designed puzzles. Although graphics were minimalistic, I liked the level transitions.

This is a nice puzzle game. I like the block pushing mechanic and you used it creatively. Though the game could've used some sound and desperately needs a quick restart mechanic. The difficulty curve was nice up until 4 which to me was really hard although I did eventually beat it, probably would've made sense to swap 4 and 5.

Good idea.  Level flow/balance is always tricky on time constraints like this.   ESPECIALLY when you are designing the puzzles and know the solutions.  Guessing how a player will figure out how to solve a puzzle is a lot harder than I anticipated.  I definitely agree on the sound, I am relatively new to the game-dev world and am still learning how important each element is.  Good to know for future games/game jams.  Thanks for playing and the feedback!

I don't think I can play it on mac?

Developer

Oh.  Sorry, I never exported a mac version.  If you still interested after the judging period ill post an executable for MacOS

I liked the idea but it would have been way cooler to restart the current level than restarting all, you can call get_tree().reload_current_level() or something similar !

It's sad that there is no sound, as it would've been way more immersive !

I hope to hear feedback from you too :)

Thanks!  Yeah.  I was super crunched for time this time round so some quality of life feature like restart level just never crossed my mind.  Good to know for next time (especially if I make another puzzle game).  Sound design was also one of those things that got left on the burner for time reasons but definitely something to work on for the next game jam.

Great idea for the jam! I did find the controls to be pretty unresponsive. Additionally when you push a cube into a hole, and then try to push another cube on top of that (now covered) hole it just pushes it into the same hole, that was pretty unintuitive and tripped me up a few times. Good job on the game, I'm glad I got to play it!

Developer

Thanks for playing!  Definitely could have spent more time adding some quality of life things (like an input buffer for controls) to make it a little less clunky.  As for the cube on cube thing....yeah... that is a bug.  Looking at the code rn, I just forgot to add that specific check, sorry about that.  You live and you learn ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯.

I liked the idea of this one, the void was quite quick so I had to be really focused for it :D I was able to do every level except level 4, but I’m not that good at these sorts of games so I’ll take that!

I guess my only annoyance is the controls as only moving one step was annoying and I was basically mashing the keyboard to do it, particularly as there is a limited time. I get why you would need to do it like that with the sort of game it is, but it just felt a bit unresponsive.

Developer

Wait.  I think I played your game too!!!  It was fun.  Sorry level 4 was tough.  I was trying to balance it but I ran out of time for making sure that level was playable for all people (such is the way for games on a deadline).  I mentioned it in the other comment, but I was working on a slightly shorter timeframe, so I didnt get to add some of the quality of life elements to the controls like a movement buffer to make the movement more fluid (I also should have definitely added long press for continuous movement).  Definitely something to remember for next time I add grid based movement to a game.

Thanks for playing and for the comment! :)
