Hi! I played through your game on stream. You can watch the video & feedback here (timestamped):

(In case iframe does not work: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2338974545?t=01h04m30s )

Great art, gameplay lacked a bit of a goal or difficulty progression but was fun overall!

Pretty good concept and first GWJ so nice job. I'll parrot some of the other comments. I didn't have much trouble with the enemies. I got into a rhythm and stopped needing to freeze. I was killing things before they were even on screen a lot of the time. There was a bug with the freeze mechanic you can retrigger it while its active giving you more time in the frozen state. Not sure if that was intentional but it did allow for an easier time marking all the enemies. I got to over 2,000,000 points and over 500x multiplier and called it quits. Really all this needs is an ending or a difficulty ramp that eventually becomes overwhelming and you've got the full package. You could also consider a cool down on shooting or some kind of ammo/reload mechanic so it mattered more that my shots hit or not.

In the end I had fun and was just missing the closure of an ending

Cool concept. Amazing artwork and sounds. Could use some variety and a goal. Is it possible to win?

Nice work on the game! I thought it was very charming all things considered despite you literally fighting for your life to stay alive although at one point I could just fire without moving and stay alive infinitely without going anywhere. It was after a 150x kill streak that I stopped because I wasn't going anywhere with it. Can't believe I'm saying this but maybe making it more challenging or at least making the player's abilities more restricted would have been the way to go to create a satisfying gameplay loop. But everything else about the game is well polished, the graphics, the art, the shooting (although shooting through walls makes it broken by default), the sound, enemy AI, etc. Anyways, congrats on your game!

The combat in this game is very satisfying and the art is very charming, but I never found a reason to use the time freeze mechanic (which looks very cool, btw). Since enemies all die in one hit and you can pierce infinitely, you can just clear enemies indefinitely by spam firing. Making the enemies faster over time (or making the enemy speed ramp up faster, if you did already) may help necessitate the use of time freezing.

Also, is it just me or does the music slider not work? I was messing with the sound settings and while the SFX changed like it was supposed to, I didn't notice a difference in the BGM. Perhaps your range is too small?

Good job! I would suggest prohibiting fire-spamming a bit (reload time? fire delay) for a bit more challenge and maybe some sense of progression. But otherwise great!

Great game with more polishing and upgrades, this can turn out much better!
Good job!

Very interesting gameplay! Good submission!

The darkness consumed me. Like others have said, the juice is great.

Nice game! The combat felt pretty juicy and I think the freeze game mechanic is cool.

I think the background music didn't really fit the theme, it was a touch too cheery for having to defend a dying flame at night against monsters. I also think the difficulty progression could have been more significant, as I seldom had need for the freeze mechanic, nor did I ever really have to move from one spot.

Could be a lovely project to expand upon!

Really like this. I am a big fan of arcade styles. Great submission

I really liked how much of a zen feeling this was, but it kinda leveled off for me after a while. Maybe you could have to run from fire to fire, and have one fire flicker and fade as you use it to attack enemies??

Really love the art style and the music is very icy :D

I think the gameplay could use some more variety, especially since I never found a reason to use the stasis mechanic. Maybe some faster enemies or enemies you can only kill by using stasis.

Great submission!

Oh god the stasis SFX is not on the correct audio bus, I turned all the volumes down and my ears fell off when I pressed the button. Other than that: Solid game! The juice and artwork really carry this game. The hitboxes could need some work.
