Very nice visuals and enjoyable takodachi follower army.

Getting lost the first run and finding out about the sanity refill at base was a nice way to learn how to play.

It was also interesting to read the little bits of story in the lanterns.

Some improvement suggestions:

- Going around in circles I end up interacting with the same lanterns after a while. It would be nice to have some kind of visual marker to know which ones are new and which ones were already seen.

- Corruption sources should give the player some kind of feedback to know if the takodachi are working on it. Eventually the thing becomes smaller, but I feel it would be clearer if there was a little UI donut filling up as the work is done.

- I don't know why Discord showed me as if I was playing a different game when I launched this.  Edit: I did some googling and it seems this is a Discord issue and not the game's fault. Other UE games are being detected by Discord as that game for some unknown reason.

Tako off to cleanse corruption!

It's interesting to sees something Pikmin-like in the jam! The map arrangement is gorgeous that I find myself lost in it (admittedly also in literal sense) and seeing tiny takos following you is just cute!

A couple things I would like to suggest is:

  • I would really love to see a kind of progress bar or some indication when I'm cleansing a corruption, since its the core part of the game and I really want to know if my takos are doing something or they are off snacking on some cookies.
  • I feels like a map would be very useful for the player, although it might go against your design goal I just can't shake the feeling of some kind of map that would help me navigate could be very useful here.

That being said, impressive work!

The little takos that follow you around are really cool! They remind me of Pikmin, and I love Pikmin! I did found myself wandering around lost most of the time. So twisting, difficult to navigate maze was accomplished really well.

Unfortunately wandering around totally lost until your sanity depletes and you pass out isn't exactly the most exciting gameplay loop. It couldn't definitely use a little more direction. I also think the little messages you've got scattered around the map might be difficult to read for some (myself included) since they disappear so quickly.

Finally, I want to commend you on making really good use of the Quixel Megascans that Epic gave out recently. I didn't discover them until we were midway through the jam, but you've made them look beautiful here. One of the best looking games (If not the best) in the jam. Well done!

Really a great game. I had a lot of fun exploring the lore, and building up my Tako army. After losing my first time, I better understood the game, and played for a long time. I got 17 sources of corruption purified. It looks great, the accoustic Violet fit really well, and it was very fun to play! The only thing that I think was a bug was that it continues to say that 2 Takos were defeated, but I think it gradually defeats more over time as I had 4 guarding and then lost while it only said 2 were defeated.

This game is beautiful, but unfortunately I can't really play it because my laptop is too weak (can barely get like 5fps). I won't rate it since I don't think I was able to experience enough to give it a proper score, but I will say that you really hit the nail on the head for ambience. I love how it all looks. Great job!

I really liked the style, nice game!

What threw me off in my first attempt is no explanation of what or how to play the game.
With the explanation in your description I understood and could cleanse some corruption.
A simple text field above the corruption, like "click to assign Takos" would have really helped the game.

Otherwise, as a fellow Tako, nice work and cute Takos
WAH!

I really wish I could play this because the atmosphere in the screenshots really caught my attention. Unfortunately, my low-end 5-year-old graphics card just couldn’t handle it. It was struggling to even reach 15fps. lol. Also, 740MB I think is a bit of a high barrier for entry for a jam game.

I think for fairness’ sake, I won’t leave a rating since I didn’t actually get to play. But I’m leaving a comment to let you know I gave it a try!

It took a while to understand how to get rid of the corruption cubes but at the same time I'm not 100% sure if I understood how it works correctly. Going around to collect the takodachis is interesting but getting lost in the jungle is a bit frustrating as I can't go back to base.. It also feels like map is blocking off paths as I keep circling the same path over and over.

Visually impressive! Appreciate the honesty of what you've modeled, but it still takes alot of skills to arrange it into this whole scenery of a forest where everything looks so lush and alive (I know I wouldn't be able to achieve what you have here even with all the same assets given to me)
Gameplay wise, I'm not too sure what I am supposed to do. I feel like I am missing out alot, but gathering takodachis doesnt feel like it does anything other than assigning them to guard Ina. Found corrupted cubes, but nothing really happens when I click on them despite them glowing green.
Also, 700+mb is a little scary

This game is really cool! The mechanics are very interesting and work well with the story, music, and art.

Its a bit hard to figure out how it works, though. I think having a tutorial that tells you how the takodachis work, how to assign them to protect the priestess, how to defeat the corruption, and how the torii gates work, would help a lot. At least adding that information in the description would be nice.

I also think its a bit too hard. I think it would be a bit better if the corruption didn't respawn and/or attacked less frequently to give the player a bit more time to explore, read the story, and familiarize themselves with the mechanics.

Other than that, its a really good game!

Glad you enjoyed it!  I had a lot of fun working on it.

Fair enough, I used the notes to explain some of that, but there were certainly gaps in it.  I just expanded the description to include how to control the takos a bit.  And I might update it to slow down the difficulty curve, although I'm alright with the idea of it taking a failed run or two to figure out what's happening.
