Description
Kilowatt Showers is the re-invention of a theme I've been working on for a while, and the 2nd part of a much larger song that I have made over the past year. However this part specifically was composed just for the purposes of this jam to try and develop an idea I have been stuck on for a while, using the short time limit as motivation to create a completed project!
The Name is a pun on "Kilowatt Hours", as the song is loosely based on this idea of electronic rain, a natural phenomenon with a distinctly unnatural and robotic vibe, which I tried to develop upon using recordings of my own voice. The direction I went with this was largely inspired by Lena Raine's Oneknowing album, trying a thinner musical texture and more unnatural ambient and minimalistic elements.
Cover Photo was from PNG tree and will not be used for commercial purposes.

the vocals on this are so cool!! im definitely gonna have to try out that technique for myself. without even reading your description i can hear the lena raine influence so much lol. very soothing very sleepy sounding....
Whoa those voices are neat surprise. What kind of processing are you doing on the vocals?
I have a autotune on made by Maudio (free) iirc, as well as Krush (also free), a bit of messing around with eq and then Erosion, which is a native ableton plugin native
Thanks!
Aah!!! The Great Pixele!
Heh... can I be honest? When I was listening to this, I imagined I was walking through the Basalt Deltas... Ashes falling everywhere. a bit of silence and restless calm..... (I love this biome, lol).
Cool track!!! It relaxed me from a hard day)
The vocals scared me a bit :_) It's like I'm listening to the soundtrack from the Amanita Design games... Heh :)
How beautiful this is... <3
Really enjoyable track. I liked how the intro/beginning of this is really subtle and subdued, and then when the voices come in, it really starts to feel almost uncanny, I keep thinking of ghosts and spirits? but also sort of joyful in it's existence, like it's just existing, and then the build-up into something more etherial, like electricity. Overally, I really liked it. I'm glad to see someone else who used the time limit of this jam as motivation!
Cool descending chord chromatic progression giving instant Radiohead vibes. Mysterious and chillout undertones with the unexpected and refreshing vocal appearance with a very special treatment giving it robotic/alien nature. Very unique and transporting track! I liked it very much!
very nice!!! i like the (semi-detuned?) backing behind the main piano melody at the beginning. and came along the harmony with the main melody, adding so much more emotion. i kind of agree with twitchywhalez regarding the vocals - they ARE a very nice touch and very creative, but they feel as though they are laying on top of the song instead of flowing along with it.
basic compliment but if minecraft used vocals in its tracks its def sm i would hear there i fear ... GREAT WORK!!!
adding vocals in the minecraft jam just because of this comment
wuh oh ive created something..,.,
Super vibey, I love it!
I still want to hear what a big spacey reverb on those vocals sounds like, like the vocals would be soaring above the instrumentation.
Oh this is seriously cool. As a lover of synthetic vocal sounds, the latter half hits extra.
awww thank you!!!
I thought the album cover reminded me of something before reading about the Lena Raine inspiration 😀.
I dig the robotic effects on the vocals, almost gives it a sort of Vocaloid sound.
Really great stuff!
Love my girl lena, im not sticking with this cover if i do anything else with this so i figured id do a nod to the framing of oneknowing :3
Veery, very nice music, great track! So nice to listen)
Thanks :D
Very sweet piece, great build up to give the voice some nice space in the last minute or so. Arrangement is good pacing is well made. Enjoyed listening, very gentle and cool track. Good job.
Thank u!!!!
Recalling finding your last one reminding me of porter robinson, and this one has a similarly unique feel. The pallete reminds me of parts of 'sad robot' elevated with haunting harmonies. Hard to explain the harmony musically, but bittersweet (like 1:03) and dominant-sounding (2:45) parts are so nice. I'd love to hear more in this style, just beautiful work!
this style honestly is a little bit out of my comfort zone so im glad you liked it! I will try and mess around with it more in the future
Great atmosphere and compostition, super chill vibe! I liked the vocals but they felt a little dry and unnatural to me, I think that could be fixed by adding more reverb to smooth it out and make it more spacey, and/or you could also lean even more into into the robotish tone and add a vocoder which could sound cool
Really cool stuff, love the creativity of adding vocals to a submission, this is really cool!
I was considering messing with a vocoder in this but i ended up not doing that mostly due to time, along with rerecording the vocals messing with a vocoder is something i do want to try so I absolutely will, cause that roboty unnatural feel is def more what im going for here. ty!
Such pleasant production here. So chill. I definitely feel the Lena Raine influence! I'm a sucker for any progression starting in bVI-V. The vocals were a cool touch! Great work! Such a satisfying listen.
I always love seeing how people interpret this progression, because some people do see it more in f minor (bVI - V) but I always feel it more in Bb minor. Glad you still liked it tho :>
When I read the words electronic rain I thought you captured that quite well. I think I am partial to the section without the "vocals" but I still liked them.
Everyone's got their tastes! Thanks for listening regardless
