Awesome first jam submission. I also just cheezed it, but it played great and was a great twist.

Thanks!

Nice game! I liked very much the concept of being able to change the gravity mid-jump, it's a cool mechanic! The enemy shots are extremely fast, almost undodgeable. I realized that if I just ran fast enough I could ignore all the enemies haha. So, to summarize, I liked the game, it just needed more balancing. Good job!

Developer

thank you!

This was a fair bit of fun. If I'm honest, I really didn't bother shooting back all that much. It was often more fun to dodge with your really nice switching mechanic than to fight back.

Developer

thanks!

WOOOOAAAH that is a seriously fast game and the music makes it feel even faster. Really liked the controls and the gravity switch was nicely implemented. I think a nice tutorial and a less harder starting level would have made it excellent.

Developer

than you!

That's good work there. It was definitely fun. But here is some feedback for you:

Firstly game feels too fast. You can't react to bullets. Maybe add some animations for enemies before fire?

Second you should smooth camera movements. I don't know how with your game engine but you can easily implement I think.

and lastly colors are confusing. Try making more counter colors.

Other than that that was fun. good job

Developer

thanks for the feedback!

Good job, I think the gravity switch is a novel take on regular platformer controls. I think it's a bit of a stretch for the theme. I also feel the enemy AI can be tuned so it has a bit of a curve (and you can better feel progression) and obviously the game can be further polished. Nice little concept.

Developer

thanks!

The Art is very cute! The shooting game is very good with a gap between the cuteness of the screen. Great work!

Great work! I think rotating the gravity upside down and back was a great. I liked the level design in the first few levels especially, where you could get to the end in multiple ways and how it highlighted being able to change gravity direction in the air. A couple things I might suggest changing is the noise for jumping, it's a little harsh sounding in my opinion, and some of the levels start with an enemy right at the start, which can be difficult to avoid. That said, I think the game was really fun and I enjoyed playing through it. Great work!

thanks! ill be fixing that stuff up after the voting.

Cute concept.... Not for my  brain tho :P

Developer

yea a lot of people said I should bring the difficulty down.

Loved the game, challenging, and fun! The gravity flipping mechanic is really good. Nice work!

Developer

thank you!

oh geez this is cool! The gravity  flipping is rather tight, and the combat is hella fast paced. The bullet innaccuracy on the player's gun draws it out further (that or i'm just bad lol). Was really hyped when I first started playing. Although I only started beating levels once I gave up on killing things and just raced through the level as quickly as i could lol, but I could totally see this being fun as intended for longer if I wasn't so bad at it haha

Developer(+1)

thanks,  I'm glad you liked the controls, this was my first time messing with gravity in my games so I'm glad it worked out!

Was fun, a bit hard to play for me because you didn't wired the arrow and I have an azerty keyboard, so, well ^^'. But I could test it and it's smooth and this new graphics by kenney are so cute, no wonder a lot of games used them.

But here we have a bee with a gun! :D

nice game, smooth movement and the gravity mechanic is really cool

Developer

thanks a lot!

Good game, I like the gravity mechanics. I used a similar setup for the shooting, having experienced how annoying that can be to set up, I can say you definitely did it well. I agree with the others, it's mix of shooting and puzzle type movement works well.

Developer

thanks!

Really nice idea. The gravity manipulation platforming works really well, and I would love to see a puzzle game based on that mechanic.

Developer

thanks I've heard a few people enjoy this as a puzzle game so when i go back ill think about that when making the new levels!

Submitted(+1)

I felt smart after I beat it. I don't think it's hard, I don't even think this game is a shooter. I played as a puzzle game, a very clever one btw.

Developer

thank you!

It's pretty hard game, I died couple of times but then I flew through the levels and finished the game without killing any enemy :P Good job on this one

Developer

thanks alot for playing!

It's a good concept and the execution is not too bad  or too great. I liked your choice of audio as well. I also liked that I could stand on either side of a platform, although it took me a while to figure that out (due to the colour blending in with background)

A few suggestions that come to mind are-
1. Create a learning curve that is less steep- the level design could gradually increase in complexity rather than having challenging bits from the very beginning.

2. The background colour and the player bullets have very similar colours- it was hard to see where my bullets were going. You may want to make the bullets better visible like the ones enemies are shooting- those are bold, contrasting in colour, and thus very clear to see.

3. I think you forgot to mention in the controls that Space can be used for jump. I pressed it out of instinct and it worked!

Overall, it is has good potential; polishing it further can make it more enjoyable.
Congratulations on your first game jam, and nice work!

Developer

thanks for the review after the voting period I'll do my best to take on all criticism and fix anything that needs to be!

Nice game! It's brutally hard though so if you're looking to expand in the future a good feature to add might be checkpoints. Good job though!

Developer

thanks! ill definitely be fixing the difficulty balance and add some checkpoints
