In general I like the idea pretty much. And it could have been a lot of fun if there not were two points which totally frustrated me:

1. The Ghosts / Djinns are way to intelligent. They follow me right up and I have no chance to escape.

2. I could not walk "behind" a tree. In my opinion you should definetively consider to disable the collider of the upper part of a tree.

But I really like the concept and the art and music are really great.

Developer

Thanks, man, Idk why the tree thing ios happening, it should have worked where you could go behind it, needs ALOT more polish i guess. But thanks anyway! Your feedback means alot!

Enjoyment: Overall I enjoyed it a good amount, it was annoying having a few impossible levels but it I'm glad that you added the reset. I did get a weird bug where I went over an x and it didnt change the level and I  I thought it was fun learning the enemy patterns and trying to outsmart them.

Concept: A pretty basic concept but executed really well (just like a pirate lol)

Presentation: I love the style and the music and sounds/music fit really well

Use of the Limitation: I mean it fits lol

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, Yes the game is very unpolished, but I'm glad you had fun with it!

This is a very cute game and i like the gameplay concept. It was easy to pick up the mechanics and i love the cardboard style

Developer

Thanks for all the kind words!

Really cool game! Presentation is top notch and might be one of the cutest games in the jam! And the gameplay is simple but cool and it's neat you were able to get random maps working at all in such a short time! My only complaint is that the enemies are a little hard to work around? But with some polish and maybe a store to spend money to buy upgrades, I think this game would be fleshed out into something amazing!

Developer(+1)

Ty so much! It means a lot that you enjoyed my art. Yeah the enemies can be really difficult to a point fo being unfair, but im glad you found some fun it it!

Funny game! Very cool graphics! Great work)

Developer

Thanks man! Cheers!

GREAT pirate them puzzler. love the adventurous music -- your algorithm does however lead to unsolvable situations. amazing job all around

Developer

Yeah, you can press R to reroll a level! But that's the main issue with the game.

Submitted(+2)

Gameplay was smooth and I believe has solid potential, it's just the dangers of procedurally generating the levels sets the game back a little but other than that great job!

Developer

True, we need a path finding system to make impossible levels not able to spawn. Im glad you liked it though!

Really cool concept. I love the art style (card  board cut out motif was great.). I think the random levels are pretty fun, and the movement feels fantastic. My only bit of feedback is sometimes the ghosts moved very unpredictably. Thank you for sharing your game, I enjoyed it very much. Good work

Developer

Yeah, the AI can be really unfair at times. I'm glad you like it!

Love the handmade cardboard cutout style. No complaints that haven't been mentioned already, so I'll just say that I really liked the vibe on this one. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks man! haha yeah, we knew the issues before we even launched it...but it is what it is

Looks amazing with the cardboard cutout style, and it's fun to outmaneuver the enemies.
There were a few issues like the X sometimes not registering, and impossible levels, but being able to reset prevented those issues from being annoying.
But overall, I enjoyed playing it. A post-jam version with more unique enemy behaviors and a larger map space would be interesting.

Developer

Yeah, we hope to work on it some more, thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad you had fun!

Looks cool and plays cool. Overall a pretty cool game!

Ty for the kind words!

Loved the art style, would absolutely buy a game that looks like this!

Regarding the problems with the level generation, just my personal opinion but on top of fixing the issues with impossible levels the game could maybe benefit from a slightly larger game area, maybe an extra row and column? Hard to move around multiple enemies with few squares available. Just a though, still loved it!

Developer

Ty for the feedback, and yes i agree we could've worked on that a bit more haha

Really nice look and a cool idea for a game. One of those "just-one-more-time"-kind of games, really nice done.

Developer

thanks man!

Cardboard game, anyone?! Me! Me!Me!Me!

It's a beautiful presentation  right from the Start Screen.  Great job! Also the animations and the grain filter are  serving this style amazingly well. All in all 10* straight.

In one of our last games, I have also tried this style (well, kind of - it's more a paper cut style, but still very close). So I know only too good, how challenging it is. Maybe you want to give it  a brief check? From  Cardboard game artist to Cardboard game artist, so to speak ;-)

Your game will get a special place in my "Cardboard & Paper Games" Collection!

Awww thank you! Yeah, I love making cardboard and paper cut-out style art. Huge fan of paper mario! I checked out your game! It looks very very good, I'm actually shocked! Amazing visuals! If you ever wanna work on cardboard art together hit me up hahaha!

Very well :-) Thanks for the offer and for the  encouraging words.

Got a few unbeatable levels, but in general it's a beautiful game. I love the art a lot, the music, and the simplicity. Would love to see it expanded to a  longer game with some more puzzles (and some fun dialogue). Congrats!

Developer

Thanks man! Yeah the world gen really is a bit wonky sadly. Glad you liked it, id love to work on this game more!

I just can't get over how amazing the art for this game looks, absolutely stunning work! Otherwise really fun experience and cool gameplay concept. The only things I would maybe critisize is a lack of progression of any kind which makes the game a bit repetitive over time, but hey, it's a super polished product for a jam game :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for all the kind words man!

Had a few problems like this where the cross would not end the level or with the AI, but the game is fun and your art is clean as always ;)

Could put a little more time regarding generation to check enemies do not spawn in blocked cells, and put a check to regenerate another map is the cross cannot be reached.

Good job overall!

Developer

Thanks man!, yeah we saw those issues, sadly no time to fix them. But im glad you had fun with it!

Beautiful art and a really cool little random level generation setup! I did get a few unplayable levels, but still really great job!

Developer

Thanks so much!
