I LOVE story games, great concept, great take on the subjects, one of my favorite despite not being able to pass level 1 XD
I don't understand how it works XD it's the "in order" thing that I don't get,idk if that's means "at the right position" or "the order in which the elements are placed" but then having "1 element in order" doesn't make sense. Maybe I'll replay once I have more time
Hey, thanks for playing! The way the "in order" messages work is that it'll say an event is "in order" if the correct answer has that event at that same index.
For example, if the solution was yellow, green, orange, red (it's not) and you guessed green, yellow, orange, red then it'd say that 2 are in the right order (orange and red) and 2 are not in the right order (green, and yellow).
If you've ever played the board game Mastermind, it's the same as that. If it's too difficult, I included a walkthrough in the game description. Again, that's for trying out my game. Really appreciate it!
Yes I already played games like that but maybe it's because i'm a french speaker and we say more like an event is "at the good position" rather than "in order"
nice game
Super cool, i like how some combinations of events effect other events, like how if you rain and then select "she was almost killed" it would say it was a lighting instead of a branch :)
Very good and especially creative game, I really liked the stories. It reminds me of how my grandpa used to tell me stories from his past. The last story was unexpected but was the most fun. Overall very good game fits perfectly with the theme.
Love this game! The artwork is really cool. I can see that a lot of effort is put into the dialog system; the story interconnects convincingly irrespective of the order of the choices, well done!
This was awesome, I preferred the setup of the first level, and unfortunately I got a crash on the second, but overall, one of the better games I've played today!
Hey, thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. Sorry about the crash. If you want to try the 3rd story, you can start up the intro and press 5 to jump to the scene after the fight.
The most creative and on point with the thematic of the game jam. A pixelated font and square background for the font would make it more on point.
This is one of my favourite ones. It is so creative, I was surprised when I had to start controlling grandpa. Also grandpa is very funny in a grandpa-y way. Like other people, I did crash a few times on story 2 and I appreciate the cheat buttons.
Wow, thank you so much for the nice feedback. It's so weird, so many people are saying they keep crashing on the 2nd story, but I've tried to reproduce it in every way I can think of but haven't been able to. Bugs like that are so frustrating haha. Thanks for playing!
Edit: I've fixed the bug now. Thanks for letting me know about it!
This game is amazing! My favorite of the jam so far! It reminds me a lot of the board game mastermind but with an actual story attached. I love how the dialog changed in the first story depending upon my choices. The art and sound effects fit perfectly.
I did run into an issue where story #2 kept crashing the game. If you fix that in a post-jam version, please let me know. I love this game and would happily experience it again!
Hey, thanks for the nice comment! Sorry about the crashes in the second story. I've been hearing lots of people say that. If you want to try the 3rd story, you can start up the intro and press 5 to skip to the scene after the fight. Thanks for playing my game!
I was able to fully finish the game even with the glitch, but thanks for giving me the cheat code!
Nice and well thought out game. Never thought a story-based game like this would fit in the topic. Well done!👍
Very good game, I like how the dialogue changes based on the order of choices you pick!
I thought I was going to play a game about a story about the grandpa's life and half expected a sad story. I didn't expect it to go the route it was going to.
There was a bug on the bully level that kept making me restart the game, not sure what caused it though.
Originally, it was going to be a sad story. The second story was going to be a top-down shooter about how Grandpa had to kill some people in a war, but decided that was a bit too heavy and went with a school fight instead haha. I've fixed the bug on the 2nd stage now. Thanks for letting me know about it and thanks for playing my game!
Aw man... you mean your allowed to fix bugs after you upload your game? Whish I knew that.
Yeah, Jonas posted about it in the Discord. There's still time to fix any urgent bugs if you want!
Wish I saw that on the front page. Thanks bro!
Super cool idea! Very puzzly.
Nice idea, fits the topic really well and was nice and relaxing
That is such a cool idea! its very original and fits the theme perfectly
at the first level i was amazed that the text changed, depending on what i chose
the second level was so cool, since i expected another text story, but i kinda got softlocked there lol
- the art is good but you might need to work more on shading and picking colors
- in the fight stage, the background has outlines while the charcters do not. it can be a little confusing
- it would be nice if there were some sort of hints in the level, so you wouldn't need to bruteforce the answer like you need to in mastermind
EDIT: i reached the final level again, its just as cool as the other two (:
This is just amazing! The raining sound effect was satisfying and really pleasing to hear. This game is really simple, but I still had a lot of fun playing it. No intense challenge, simplicity at its best, great and original game! I'm impressed. Good job!
Pretty Cool! I like all choices you can choose and how you gotta find out how the story went, Nice Work!
Awesome game! I loved te core mechanics and the storyline! Very fun to play and inspiring to watch the game!! Keep it up!
That's a really cool idea it reminded me of the (physical) game mastermind I played as a kid (kind of the same principle with finding the correct order). Sadly I got stuck multiple times on the fight / second story (browser crashed). I really enjoyed your game and it fits perfectly with the topic!
Great job!
Thanks for playing! Yeah, Mastermind was exactly what I was going for. I figured it fit with the theme really well, but wanted to add more gameplay instead of it just being abstract color guessing. Sorry the 2nd story crashed for you. I got a crash during that segment once during testing, but wasn't able to reproduce it, so thought it was a one off. If you want to play the 3rd story, you can start up the intro and press 5 to jump to the scene after the fight.
It was a bit hard but I managed to finish it without cheating. The concept is very nice. Never seen a game like this, so it was refreshing to play.
Although the idea was fresh, the execution could be much much better.
I would expect some hints to direct me to the right choices. It felt a bit random even though I tried my best to come up with a solution. Then I saw that the puzzles didn't have any clues attached to them.
So I basically completed the game by elimination. I felt like a lab rat rather than a detective :)
The art is charming and the idea has potential. Game jams are for experimentation so there is no need to expect perfection on the execution side.
Great job!
Hey! Thanks for playing the game to the end. Appreciate the feedback. I'm curious if you felt the "x of these events happened in this order, y of these events happened, but not in this order" notifications weren't helpful enough to find the solution or was there some sort of bug where they didn't show up for you?
They were helpful; but the puzzles didn't have any guided hints attached to them. So you basically just try solving it based on the result notification without any lead. And in a level where there are 7 choices and 4 answers, there are 840 different inputs we can take. I don't expect anyone to solve the first level without getting a bit frustrated.
My recommendation would be to change the order of the levels so the difficulty slowly ramps up or have some kind of hinting.
I think the solutions was a bit too random, I would like to see it work better with the story as more the first one did. Great game!
