Hey everyone!

This is my 10th game jam and I'm super excited to see what sorts of things you all made! This was my first time trying to create a narrative based game for a jam. Here's a link to my game: https://itch.io/jam/wowie-jam-3/rate/940085

In this platformer, death is not the end. Levels can only be finished once your character has perished. Can you get the fasted time in all 12 levels in order to unlock the ending?

For the Blackthornprod GAME JAM #3 I was able to rate 78 games, and for the Brackeys Game Jam 2021.1 I have rated 50 games so far. For this Jam I've rated 42 so far! I've found some truly inspiring stuff. It's super sad to find amazing games with so few ratings. I can't wait to see the amazing thing you created!

*Note* If I see you have rated and commented on my game, I prioritize you over people who have just posted links in response to this community post.

Have a great day!

I'll post my here now, and rate yours in 1 hour after my English class! https://ildiavolovesterosa.itch.io/demotivation

Interesting game, I enjoyed the time mechanic and how it physically moved faster while playing the game and slowed while studying. It is a simple idea that is well executed. It plays into the theme very nicely as well.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the game a lot shorter, maybe 1 day instead of 7. That would allow you to still get the same point across without forcing the play to give a huge time investment.

Overall, cool game!

I'll play yours after classes !

Here's mine, drop a comment after rating so I know you played it !

Having a weakness of no plot armor is pretty brutal XD. I liked the humor of this game, it was a very nice touch. I enjoyed the mechanic of trying to loose battles, it made me think of how not to kill the enemies, which was a nice puzzle. The graphics were nice too.

If you wanted to improve some, I recommend adding a next box so people can go through the into cutscene at their own pace. I also suggest lowering the health and increasing the attack damage. Once you figure out how to 'win' a battle, it becomes more of a drawn out process of doing so, shortening this would enable more challenging situations with quicker rewards.

All around, fun game!

Hey IanGoGo, I liked ur game for BTP #3 last month, so I am excited to play ur game when I'm free (It is in a collection) and I would appreciate if you would rate my game for the second jam in a row: https://itch.io/jam/wowie-jam-3/rate/940549

Lol I remember you too, you made that Speed hook game, I remember enjoying it.

With this game, I thought it was interesting having some gameplay before the main menu, it took me some time to figure out the wall jump but I enjoyed the discovery process for it. I also think it was interesting how gravity would change from room to room, sometimes being a platformer and other times being a top down style game. I'm impressed by how much you were able to get out of the 72 hours for the jam.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the change in gravity more apparent. I always have to take a moment with the rooms to see what to do. Some of the rooms felt unfair, like the one where powerups fell directly on the player's head at the start. I think fixing that some and adding a more consistent jump would make this game spectacular. Overall, good job!

馃幃 Out of Limbs - Tech Rex Games // Rate 4 Rate :)

Thanks!

Submitted

Cool game! I really enjoyed the incremental loss of limbs and how that effected gameplay. I was able to get to 10 rooms.

I had an issue on the main menu where I couldn't click the buttons and found a spot to click on the lower right hand side. It could just be my monitor is large but it was very odd.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest having a restart game option. Many times I wanted to try the entire run over again but couldn't.

Also your game set off my anti-virus and I can't replay it because my computer's freaking out :(

Sure, I'll rate yours :)

Congrats on your first game jam! For your first one, this is really good and has a nice amount of polish. I like the mechanic of the game, it was really fun and would fit nicely in a four player party game.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making a simple AI for the player to play against (just program it to stand the nearest place where it can get a ton of points). I recommend doing that as it's hard to play multiplayer games alone during  a jam.

Fun game! I like how you learned from each death and that was the way of progressing. I also liked the speed up time mechanic, that was very smart and a nice inclusion.

If you wanted to keep working on it. Some other levels with a similar premise could be nice.

Overall, fun game!

Hey, I think you uploaded the wrong file for your game. I can't play it. Try reaching out to the guy who ran the jam to get it fixed.

If you do, let me know and I'll happily replay it.

Very cool game! I enjoyed the gameplay, this was one of the more unique takes on the theme and I think it works great. The title also makes me laugh.

If you wanted to improve, music and additional sound effects would be really nice. I could see this being expanded into a full game!

Hey,

I'll check yours out when I get back from home in 1-2 hours, would be great if you can check mine:

Fun game! I enjoyed the chaos of it and the speed up time mechanic was really nice too. It was a nice twist on a traditional tower defense formula!

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the upgrade screen more clear, I could never tell when I was or wasn't able to upgrade towers.

Hi, i will rate your game today after school :)

If you want, you can rate mine :) Thank you :)

I enjoyed the humor of the game, such as how the buttons for if you trusted him flipped in the beginning to make you always trust him. It reminds me of that old "don't touch the button" game where you continuously touch the button and it gets upset.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest a way of skipping or at least speeding up the intro cutscene.  The text scrolls really slowly and if you touch the flag and have to restart, it feels like it takes a bit to long.

Overall, cute game!

Submitted(+1)

Thank you very much for playing :) I admit, the text could appeared faster, but i wanted to assure, that everyone (even someone not good at English) could read the text easily. But I understand your point, I already added option to change the speed of displaying text and I will update it after voting period :)

I thought the game was interesting, I like how you had to die with a glitch in one level, I though that was super creative.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the controls more consistent and tighter. The jump seemed super inconsistent and I kept sliding off of platforms. I also suggest adding 'r' as a way to restart the level so you don't have to go back to the main menu every time.

Submitted

Left a rating on yours -- ours is https://vgel.itch.io/deckmasters if you get the chance!

Submitted

Fun game! I really enjoyed the visuals and the strategy element of it. I liked a lot of the smaller details on the cards, like how my cards are like level 77 and the kids are level 12.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest adding a 'restart battle ' option. I put down two of my units, the kid killed them and got to my side. I thought I'd loose but the game just stopped. Some music and sounds would be nice too.

Overall, fun card game. I'd love to see this sort of level as a one off in a full game with this battle system.

Cool game! I liked the twist on the usual tower defense formula. Everything felt nice and it all worked great together.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest adding some sort of 'speed up' button like a 2x or 4x speed. I found myself with way to much down time while units were walking about, being able to speed up the gameplay could greatly help with that.

Overall, fun game!

Submitted

Left a rating and beat all your World Records. Was super fun, even when I played the same level a few times.

Hee's our game: https://itch.io/jam/wowie-jam-3/rate/937029 (My best time is 3:37.17)

Overall cool game!  I enjoyed the premise of it and the entire thing felt fun. I enjoyed the amount of mini games you were able to get, dodging projectiles, forcing the player to speed run to their doom, a Boss battle. It was all really cool and a lot of work clearly went into it.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest fixing the jump some. Something just felt off about it, like it was delayed or something. With the die in the next 30 seconds stage, I recommend having a spike always spawn on-top of the player and force them to move, I was able to stay still most of that level and be fine, I did really like the indicator of where the spike would fall.

Submitted (1 edit)

Ayy, you made Armor of God! Can't wait to check out the next game you made

Submitted (1 edit)

Lol I'm glad you remember I made that! I was going to try to do a game with similar theming for this but only had an idea after the Jam.

I loved your game! I enjoyed having the final boss directly to the right of the starting area. I found it first and died to it, giving me the incentive to want to beat it. It was a great motivator and a smart design choice. The game was a really unique twist on a Metroidvania and was fantastic as a result.

The only kinda issue I found was that my character got stuck in water and had to wait a few seconds to drown, I suggest making it quicker if the player can't swim.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the areas of the level feel more unique, even though the game was small, I was constantly unsure of where I was in relation to everything. Even something small like a statue would be nice.

Overall, incredible game!

Cool game, I liked the idea of it. It felt intense and I felt the pressure on almost every level. I was able to finish it and wanted more, which is never a bad thing for a game jam game!

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the ball bounce off of the walls instead of the game just ending, this would help make it feel more like golf and help make it feel more unique then other auto-runners. If you end up doing that, I suggest adding a timer and a 3-star rating system based off of the time. Other then that, I suggest making the music not restart every time, leave it as a continuous loop.

Yes I have a WebGL build and itll work on browser. lets play eachothers games... here's mine

Interesting game, I enjoyed the idea of having to restrain fire and not hit your allies, that was a really nice touch. I think this sort of level could fit nicely into a larger space shooter game.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest adding some form of low score to further reinforce the idea of not hitting your allies.

Overall, good game!

Thanks a lot! I enjoyed your game a lot too...

Having a full installer for your game is pretty intense for a game jam game. I was kinda sketched out and almost didn't play it as a result, I suggest uploading a different type of build for future jams.

Overall, the game was interesting. The platforming felt alright and it definitely fit the theme. I got random room number 1 and was very confused by what the purpose of it was.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest adding more animations to the player character instead of the background elements.

Overall, a very interesting experience.

You can play my game Pac Hunger HERE

It's a short and sweet game where you have to starve as fast as possible.

To do that, avoid every food item and drink dangerous poison to lower you hunger meter all the way to zero in the fastest way possible!

Interesting project! I haven't seen another game made with scratch on the website, so I'm impressed.

I really enjoyed your game. Here's mine: https://itch.io/jam/wowie-jam-3/rate/937928 it was made with HTML and JavaScript so it isn't really the most gameplay heavy thing but I'm happy with how it turned out all things considered

Submitted

Fun game! I enjoyed the idea of trying to fail and make things worse. The different types of error made it less repetitive and all of the upgrades felt meaningful. This could work really well as a mobile game. If you wanted to keep building, adding some sort of manager that would come by that you can't fail in front of would be a nice gameplay shift.

If you wanted to improve, I also suggest adding music and sound effects.

Overall, cool game!

Interesting project, I initially had the same idea for my project but ended up taking it in a different direction. I thought your game did it pretty well.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the controls tighter and more consistent. I had a lot of problems doing the platforming. I also suggest anchoring the text so it doesn't shrink as you add more, that was kinda had to follow.

Overall, cool project!

I enjoyed this game a lot, I thought the concept was unique and lent itself to a lot of different gameplay puzzles.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest forcing the player to release a key before control can be given over a new character. I died a lot from just holding down the key after death.

Overall, fun game!

PC/Mac/Linux/Browser game about ghosts and rocket launchers. I'll rate yours in just a sec!

Note: Do to graphical quality differences and performance, I recommend you download. WebGL is perfectly fine to play, but it lacks explosion effects and is choppy, and has some exclusive weird bugs. But again, fully playable.

I enjoyed how "Your brain" was listen in the controls, very funny! Overall was a fun game and I enjoyed the use of the ghost mechanic.

If you wanted to improve, sometime it was hard to tell what I died to, I suggest adding some particle FX and a sound on the spot of death.

Overall, fun game!

Best of luck with playing every game!

I thought your game was amazing! I loved your take on the theme by modifying the player instead of doing a traditional fail-state reversal. It opened the door to a lot of really cool puzzles and a lot of unique scenarios. The controls felt good and overall it was a fantastic entry.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest having some sort of indication before the player returns to normal. Maybe a flashing effect or a countdown somewhere to let the player know how much time they have left.

Overall, great game!

A truly icon game, I think I'm going to be afraid my Banana's going to attack me every time I unpeel one now. In all seriousness, I loved this game. I thought it was a good ethical dilemma, felt kind of like loot boxes (in a good way) with unpeeling the bananas. The art and sound look great. I keep getting super far but have not yet won, I'll have to return to this one at a later date.

Here    is my game Spike hunter.

I`ll try to play yours.

Submitted

I enjoyed this game, I liked the long tutorial building up to the core gameplay arena, I wasn't expecting that and it worked super well. Smashing into enemies and spikes felt super good, especially with the dissolve animation you had on them.

If you wanted to improve, I suggest making the boost meter more visible. I couldn't see it on most stages and even when I could, it was hard to tell what meant what. I suggest removing the bar and just adding a particle effect to the player when they can boost. I also recommend adding just a touch of screen shake to drive home the impact of boosting into something.

Overall, quality project!
