What do you like about your game?
As a non-artist (both traditonal and technical), a lot of the work I did was a little out of my comfort zone, so I'm proud of how I approached the aesthetics!

Wow, really enjoyed playing this one!

Also cool transition to 3D) Didn't expected

Developer

yooo, thanks for playing and for the kind words! that idea was the first thing i thought of when seeing the theme for the first time and the game branched off from there xd. glad you enjoyed it!

AMAZING

Developer

hey, thanks for playing!!!

I quite enjoyed this game! This game looks visually like an arcade game! (until spoilers) It was a fun, enjoyable experience! However the enemies, especially in the first round of delivery, were a bit punishing, even with the plants. I feel like the amount of lives helped that though. This game could have also had a bit more of a difficulty curve, especially in the start and the finish, because the ending wasn't that hard, but the start was quite hectic. Overall, this game was a very enjoyable game, even if there were a couple issues, such as enemy targeting and somewhat strange difficulty curve, but it's still very good! Nice Work!

hey, thanks for taking the time to play! i completely agree with the balancing, i didn't even complete the game loop until a day before the deadline xd. for the general arcade gameplay, i wanted to emulate how some arcade games of that era are pretty unforgiving and put you in tough spots for no reason (its so that they can steal all your quarters lmao). i had initially set it to 3 lives (which is insane thinking back on it now), but after having some friends playtest it i realized that the game was pretty hectic especially when learning it so i just shifted the game to have 7 lives instead. was going to do a final balance pass of the game, but unfortunately i overscoped and ran out of time (typical game jam things).

though still thanks for pushing through the game despite some its issues, glad you enjoyed it!

That sounds exactly like classic jam things! I got the whole quarter-sucking gameplay there, that was more of a game jam based difficulty, if anything. Overscoping is my favourite!! (not) But I totally get it! The game wasn't actually too hard, but it would have been really hard with three lives (that could've taken a while to complete :)) Thanks for sending a response!

Presentation is amazing all around, and the twist at the start is just so great! A very memorable game in this jam that deserves more recognition.
Also you should probably start calling yourself an artist from now on because your spritework is beautiful and really manages to capture that retro feel.

Developer(+1)

thanks you so much for the kind words! art is always such a blocker for me in game jams to the point where i usually have incomplete art. since it was 14 days this time, i really wanted to get it right and i am really proud of what i managed to do so i am really glad people are liking it! so again thank you for the kind words, really means a lot!

This one was quite the experience! From the excellently crafted art all the way to the transition from just a 2D into something more sinister, I loved the way the surprises are presented to the player, this here is top quality!

If this was a bigger game with more turn's and twists, I would buy it in an instant, is the type of game I love so much.

Developer(+1)

omg thanks for the insanely kind words! mid-jam i wasn't sure if my design decisions with how i dealt with some of the surprises were too tacky or cheesy for people to vibe with them, but im glad people are taking positively! thanks for playing, means a lot!

Submitted(+1)

That's just amazing. Initially it plays like a proper classic arcade game , might as well release that part as it's own game haha. But then suddenly... Great stuff, loved it.

Developer

thanks for the kind words! i was considering making a post-jam version with some of the stuff that i cut from the original scope, with an endless mode of the original game being one of them! though i have to see if i have time haha. glad you liked it though!

Really cool retro theme - I like it.

It was great seeing the game keep changing, wasn't sure what was going to happen next!

Great job - you absolutely nailed the retro feel!

Developer(+1)

heeeey thanks for playing! i was looking into a lot of old retro arcade games as references to try to make something that emulates the experience as close as possible, so im glad the effort paid off!

At first I was like: "Oh look, a cute NES-style game. :)"

And then I was: "Oh no..."

Well done! :D

Developer(+1)

haha thanks for the kind words and taking the time to play xd!

I absolutely love this game,* i’m really happy that you commented on my page because i wouldnt have found it otherwise and it would’ve been a real shame.*

The aesthethic is really great, the animations and overall vibe of the 2D sections is pretty. It doesn’t feel like it was made by a “non-artist”.

I was very much surprised when the first 3D section happened, and they were all absolutely lovely. I truly wish the game was longer so that I could see more of them !

This is for sure my favorite so far, i hope more people will play it <3

wow thanks for the high praise!!! art has always been a blocker for me when it comes to game jams and personal projects so i really focused on trying to get it right this time once i thought of the idea since the jam was 14 days long. though because of that, the art took a while to make and thus i had to cut quite a bit out of my overscoped concept (you know how it is xd).

again thanks for the kind words and taking the time to play my game! really means a lot!

Submitted(+1)

yeah i 100% understand the art being a roadblock. it was the first time i made 3D models for the jam so i had to re-scope too. i think taking more time on the presentation of your game was worth it :D

Submitted(+1)

Ohhhh I like it! I really like the analog horror vibes, and it was very well executed! I only thought it was a little hard... but so is mine. Really cool!

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing! i wanted to emulate how difficulty is handled in some of the old arcade games due to their quarter pinching nature where sometimes you kinda just get trapped and put into a bad spot just due to how threats move (something like Pac-Man or Mappy), but i also didn't want to make the game too hard since this is just a game jam game, so it was kinda hard for me to figure out how to balance it haha. still though, glad you liked it!

THAT WAS AWESOME! when I first entered the physical rooms I was like “yes this is my type of game.” Great job!

Developer(+1)

wow thank you so much! that one idea was the first thing i thought of when i saw the theme of the jam, which then kicked off the rest of the conceptualization xd. glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Woah, very impressive! Atmosphere, sound design, graphics, everything is top notch. Nice controls, unexpected 3D inserts, retro stylistics, horror elements - it's very good. Played with pleasure, one of my favorites on this jam!

Developer

wow thanks so much for the really kind words! glad to know that all that effort i put paid off in the end! thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool game! Very creepy and fun! it would be nice if had a downloadable version instead of the web build, most of the web builds is very laggy on my browser for some reason, also de mouse movement gets a bit weird in the browser. but overall its a pretty

Developer

ahh rip yeah, i was going to build for other platforms as well, but the submission for my last build was like 5 minutes before the deadline, so i just wanted to at least get it out there haha.

nonetheless, glad you enjoyed it!

This has the bones of a horror game based on a 1980s creepy pastas, super neat! I love the aesthetic and everything, great job!

Developer(+1)

looks like the cats out of the bag, but hell yeah thats EXACTLY what i was aiming for!!! glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

Damn this one was so good (for reasons I will not reveal), probably the most polished 2d game I have seen in the jam.

Developer

woah thanks for such high praise! glad you enjoyed it, really means a lot!

Submitted(+1)

wow, didn't expect that! I really like effects and the twist, good job!!

Developer

wow thanks for the kind words, means a lot!

Such a nostalgic and cool-looking game. Good job!

Developer(+1)

thanks so much! i played quite a bit of arcade games when i was kid so i share that same nostalgia!

Submitted(+1)

What a great surprise! This game is so cool, well done!

Developer

thanks for playing, glad you liked it!

Excellent presentation and surprise! Great care and detail throughout as well, which added to the charm. - Also I wanted to say a lot more but didn't want to spoil anything!

Developer

thanks so much for both the kind remarks and consideration, glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted(+1)

The tonal shift was unexpected but also welcome! Everything from the sprites to the audio design captures the retro game aesthetic really well.

Developer

thanks for the kinds words, art isn't really my specialty but hearing words like that makes all the effort i put into it pay off!
