The fact you did this all on your own is insane. Very well done.
My first impression was that this game looked fantastic! but then I reached stage 2 and realized that all that polish came at a cost. After accidentally deleting my powerups. I figured I would restart the game. There is no way to skip the starting dialogue or lengthy intro, and every time you die, you have to go through all that dialogue again. And while I did enjoy the witty dialogue the first time, it was a lot to be unable to skip . Also the hitboxes are really finicky, and I personally think that when movement is grid-based attacks should be grid-based as well.
All in all, I think the game is REALLY strong visually, but weak mechanically. After I got the combo of 1 greedy and 2 +1 passive range, enemies would instantly vaporize, and challenge was non-existent. I still hope this game gets #1 for presentation though. it looks phenomenal!
Incredibly good game. Love the graphics. the movement felt a bit clunky but the overall vibes were insane. Great work!
This game is so beautiful and really fun
The visual design is really impressive. Gameplay feels difficult for the wrong reasons. Being locked to a grid while enemies can fire free moving attacks is my biggest gripe. There was also a bug where placing an upgrade onto a slot moved it to the next slot thus locking both slots unless deleted. I want to do a no hit run to save Bob!
I've always had a soft spot for this type of visual style. Really good job on the presentation.
I liked graphics, music and overall style. But gameplay was kind of meh, more or less it was sluggish and slow. Everything was sluggish, you need wait for your ship to land and takes time, enemies take so many hits and there so many of them, i got constantly cornered by them. Anyway... good game.
Very unique graphics! What game engine was this made in? As others said, the intro was a bit long. One improvement is to allow the dialog to be advanced with something other than left mouse button (maybe spacebar). Also allow skipping the dialogue typing animation
Very nice looking game! I do believe that the introduction can be skipped a bit. For impatient people (like me), it can be a bit long.
Congrats for your game!
Love the art and the way the story unfolds. Its funny, interesting and kind of scary. Combat mechanics and UI is great, just feel like the fights take a little too long.
Wowie, this game looks incredible. It’s honestly amazing you even got it to look this good in 12 days, not even counting programming, writing, sound, design, etc… The gameplay of the levels does feel a bit stiff, I think it lacks a bit of excitement, and it’s sometimes easy to get cornered by many enemies. Nevertheless, there is clearly talent here, and you can feel very proud of it.
Great artwork. The comic part is awesome, the story, the screens and the music :) Sometimes I got stuck in the corner because every monster is rushing and I'm not able to leave the corner.
This game is absolutely incredible, absolutely deserves to be a jam winner in my opinion. So many fantastic things - the UI, the art, the story, the polish. It's amazing. Really fantastic job, I can't believe you did this in only 12 days!
The art is awesome. Great UI too!
The level of presentation in this game is absolutely insane for a game jam. Beautiful art all around, but the shop screen and main menu are probably my favorites
Exceptional art !
Really good style and art, also very cool and enjoyable story
The presentation is genuinely the best. wow
Damn you did it all by yourself?! Great job
The sprite art is phenomenal! Probably the best UI design in the whole jam! I love the colours and creative use of the themes. I love the story and world building. Very impressive being able to develop it in just 12 days. Unless I got unlucky with my item pulls, I found the combat quite repetitive and the hurt boxes were inconsistent to the visuals.
