How does your game represent "Power"?
Astral Avarice represents “Power” on two levels. It is literally a power-grid building game; but also, the player’s character is a power-hungry executive with eyes for nothing but profit. It is about both supplying power to others and taking it for yourself.

Very ambitious! Power of gravity, different types of energy to power stuff... it works mechanically and thematically with the moral sub-text.

Hi cinetic! I'm happy to hear that the theming is coming through, and (hopefully) doesn't feel superficial. Thanks for playing!

Nice dual interpretation of the theme.  This is the kind of game that I feel needs a guided tutorial and I’m glad that one was delivered so comprehensively which is rare for jam games.  I enjoyed the little details and humour in the building descriptions.  Very impressive depth to this game overall, great work!

Developer(+2)

Hi estainer! Yeah, Whyburn started development on the tutorials early on, and that was absolutely for the best. I'm glad you liked the building descriptions! Writing those was a nice break from doing building art. Thanks for playing!

A ton of depth at play here, really impressed that this is a jam game - this is something that with a little refinement and player feedback could be a full steam release - I know the levels are curated but could also be interesting in a roguelite format. Nice work!

Hi Rare Dialect! A city-builder roguelite / roguelike is an interesting idea. Thanks for playing!

Seriously impressive.

Thanks Benmols!

A great game about manipulating planets and performing a hostile takeover of a poor, unsuspecting solar system. Great stuff here, well done!

Thanks Bartticus! I enjoyed your stream.

A week?!? You built this in a WEEK?! This is a fully fleshed out space management sim. With not one but TWO easy to follow tutorials. I'm honestly gob-smacked. The fact you managed to also make it fun to actually play is the cherry on top. It doesn't get lost in the sauce like some management sims do. The gravity mechanic literally made me do one of these 😨 several times. Great job, great game!

Developer(+2)

Yeah, we had to use the every of the nine available days to make this. Happy to hear that people are finding the gravity mechanic interesting! Thanks for playing!

It was a bit overwhelming at first but the tutorials helped. This is really in-depth and extensive for a game jam game and it's definitely one of the most replayable games I've seen. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Hi Aaron! I'm grateful to hear the tutorial helped with getting over the barrier to entry, and that you ended up enjoying the game. Thanks for playing!

This is genuinely one of my favorite games so far. Numbers, a bit of strategy, a detailed tutorial, varying levels, amazingly done! Great job!

Developer(+2)

Hi GoldShots! Happy to hear we're one of your favorites. Whyburn designed the tutorial and levels, so I'm sure he's delighted that you liked those in particular. Thanks for playing!

This is cool. The art reminds me of old flash games I would play on newgrounds when I was young :')

And with the complex yet satisfying gameplay, I very much appreciate the nice tutorial!

Developer(+1)

Hi Panlord! I'm curious what flash games the art is reminding people of. Glad you enjoyed the gameplay and thanks for playing!

I've seen a few other people try to do the space planet power theming but you have by far executed it the best. It reminds me of some old flash games I used to play. 10/10

Thanks Preeminent_Bunny! Happy to hear you enjoyed it.

Very impressed by the level of polish this game has given the short time frame. You even took the time to make a great tutorial. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks sundriedtuna 🤝! Whyburn started working on the tutorial very early on in the process, and spent a lot of time on it, so I'm sure he'll be glad to hear this.

Awesome game!! I especially loved the artwork. Congratulations!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The art was a lot of work, but I'm glad we got all the major assets we needed done.

Really well done in the time frame. I am not the person to rate these kinds of games, as they're definitely not my forte, but in the time had the polish is really well done. There's music, sfx, great art, and awesome functionality. Very cool!

Developer(+1)

Being polished was on our minds throughout the process, so I'm glad it feels that way. Thanks SavestateCorrupted!

super detailed resource management game, love the zoom in and out

Review our game? (:

Developer(+1)

Hi oflatt! Glad you liked the zoom. I was thrilled that we were fortunate enough to have time to implement little quality-of-life features and juice like camera smoothing and multiple background layers; and I'm even more thrilled people noticed it. Thanks for playing!
