Had fun doing a pacifist run!

Loved it! Liked the old Windows aesthetic and the connection to Hotline Miami with upgrades!

Developer

Thanks!

This is really sick, very hotline miami with a few extra layers - I think if you beefed up the juice and added some gamefeel/feedback stuff like screenshake, this could be big. And the old Windows-style UI is really great.

Developer

Thanks! It's cool that you tried this build

I loved the option to go passive and the extra challenge it provides. The boxes are pretty cool.

Submitted(+1)

Those boxes are indeed pretty cool, I actually thought they were very strong since you could lock the enemy AI with them ;) I think reset could be put on a hold to reset type of deal, there were times where I would instinctively try to reload with 'R' and restart the level, and some indicator for where the exit is would be nice but I suppose you want the player to explore around the map. I like that there's various builds you can try, I had the pacifism and dash which worked well with my box tech. Nice job on the game!

Developer

Thank you! Yes, the restart on R was definitely a mistake

Nice aesthetics, and a solid gameplay loop.  Good work!

Developer

Thanks!

very nice my friend, hotline miami roguelike type beat

Developer

Thanks!

This was very fun to play! It seemed like I had one bug where the pacifist perk wouldn't grant the extra money. But I just swapped out for other perks and that worked great. I appreciated how the enemies could get caught in each other's crossfire - really incentivized me to play differently and stay nimble!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for feedback and playing! Yep, pacific perk not working correctly, it counts any kill on the level, you only need to count kills from the player's hands

i really like the idea and aesthetic! its a bit too hard for me but thats probably because im a casual haha

Developer

Yeah, the game turned out to be a bit complicated and clumsy, thanks for playing!

Wait, Action Balatro?  That sounds so awesome!  Is that what this project started off as?

Nice level and game design.  The AI works well.  The game really makes you think hard about whether to stealth or risk shooting a precious bullet.  Limiting the power ups, again, requires you to think carefully.  Lots of interesting decisions through out.  Really great job.  Amazing feel to it.

Recommendations:

- "R" shouldn't be used for retry, as it's so commonly bound to reload weapon in shooters!

- Enemy attacked while I was still reading the instructions.  Maybe pause the game until player clicks on the instructions to proceed.  Also, clicking ok fires off one of the precious few bullets!

Developer(+1)

Yep, I wanted to experiment with the Balatro meta and action gameplay. I've had an idea for a long time about emergent/immersive gameplay with a random set of abilities, with the help of which you have to creatively solve problems with a limited number of resources, for example, my other game from the jam is designed in a similar way, but it's a puzzle platformer - https://dedreflection.itch.io/jam-dev-sim. But I was thinking about how to solve the problem of the meta structure, the draft of abilities and modifiers, and decided to try the Balatro meta at this jam. Thanks for the advice!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed the view and using the shooting - quite fun overall! probably could do something more with this in future - great job

Submitted(+1)

Really like being able to get the enemies to kill each other.

Developer

Thanks!

Damn this was really fun! now I want to replay hotline miami haha!
Think it was a bit too hard though, a bit too few bullets and a bit too hard to predict the trajectory when firing, but overall very good! good job :D

Developer

Thanks!

Fun game! A few of the abilities seemed useless but I had fun trying them out. Box OP? everything seemed to work well and I enjoyed the sound and music. The player character was a bit hard to see, maybe a new color on him or the background? Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Yes, I tried to make the whole visual in the last two hours :) The box is definitely OP, many abilities are poorly balanced due to the probability of their drop, other synergies were expected.

Submitted(+1)

Very well put together, fun, and I really like the fact that in such a small game you still have the option to choose very different playstyles.

Developer

Thanks! Many abilities suggested creating emergent gameplay, but there wasn't enough time for everything.

Submitted(+1)

really liked the way the powerups jiggle when you mouse over them. this is a neat little game, nice job.

Developer

Thanks!

Big fan of this, the old Windows style matches surprisingly well with the PSX graphics. Crazy amount of content for a game jam game! Let me know if this ever turns into a full release :D

Developer(+1)

Who knows, maybe in future... :)

Submitted(+1)

Love the style! It is insane what you have pulled off. Nice one.

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

I won! This is pretty fun, my only gripe is that sometimes when swapping items the aiming would become offset.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Know this issue, yep

Submitted(+1)

I don't know how you managed to create a rogue-like in this time but well done! One of the most enjoyable games I've come across so far :)

Developer(+1)

Managed this is a nightmare. Thanks!
