I can see the efforts u guys put in. Bravo with the work! Love the atmosphere of the game.

A strong short experience. Nice visually and audio-wise.
Only gripe is some wonky hitboxes with the gas and laser pointer but those are minor.

I enjoyed the ride, and was blown away by the very unique ending sequence!

Developer

I'm so glad you enjoyed the cutscene I made! And also that I was able to finish it in time for the team to add sound and put it in the game :P

Submitted

Nice game, I wasn't expecting an actual cut scene at the end lol. Are the pinecones a ProZD reference btw?

Submitted(+1)

Lol the death screen was funny. Really like the atmosphere. I do NOT like the enemy guys, very creepy but I suppose that's the point. Fun game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I made the enemies. For the harder enemies, creepy was what I aimed for. Programmers also said to make the harder variations scarier and scarier.

The bat enemy that was cut due to time constraints (afaik) wasn't as scary.

But the ghoul enemy (also didn't make it) was painted by the other artist. I told him make it look like a gross zombie. But it was too gross, even for me! I guess you were spared from such a gross sight lol. But if we had time, we probably would have added him in!

yeah the atmosphere was probably a result of the other artist, the sound guy, and I think one of the programmers did special effects/fog/ night sky? I liked the starry night background.

Submitted(+1)

Very atmospheric game with interesting concept! The tutorial is implemented into the gameplay nicely. The game is quite punishing so a checkpoint system would have been cool to see. Using the gas canister was hilarious though. Awesome job on the game!

Submitted(+1)

Damn this was cool. Got that retro 3D atmosphere that I LOVE. The reverb soaked sound effects just added to that in a good way. Big fan.

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! Did you manage to see the cutscene at the end of the game? If so, what did you think of it?

Submitted

Naw I didn't manage to beat it. Got really far, but died, which hurt because the generator had a full tank of gas D:
Will definitely be coming back to this one to finish it

Developer

No worries.

One team member kept playing that pipe sound at MAX VOLUME in voice chat >n< lol

really fun little objective based horror game, I haven't beat it yet, but it was fun enough for me to put in a few attempts, and I'm definitely going to come back to it later today or tomorrow and I'm determined to beat it!

edit: beat it! I may have not realized there was a sprint key

also thank you Trevor

Thanks for playing! What did you think of the end game cutscene? I made it.

Submitted(+1)

This was fun! Took me a few tries to beat it but I got there. Fun combo of game elements here, really thought the resource management was balanced pretty well. Nice work!

Submitted(+1)

The aesthetic was cool and creepy! I got jumpscared every time I was running backwards and ran into a  demon.

The graphics are well done and I enjoyed playing.

the visuals and atmosphere are great, I really like the sound when you pick up a new item. good job

Love the artstyle and atmosphere.

Submitted(+1)

Loved the pixelated PS1 sort of look to the game! This is certainly a surprising amount of work for the time given for the jam, so great job to you guys for accomplishing that. I think the only critique I have is that the enemies should've been able to destroy the generator, just to give the player a little more incentive to stay near it. I also think that by doing that you'd increase the horror factor because the player would be more vigilant and worried about keeping the generator safe and moving; so while they make their short trips away from the generator it'd be more terrifying knowing that if you don't hurry your generator could get ruined.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I think the generator being destroyable was one of the original ideas the programmers had, but wasn't implemented due to time constraints. We also had plans for more enemies, and traps, too. And i had more cutscenes i didnt have time to animate.  Tho maybe for the better cuz the writing wasnt polished for those. I guess that's how game jams be!

Submitted(+1)

True, that is how they be xD There were certainly a few things my jam partner and I really wanted to add or polish but just couldn't cause of the time. But we are taking our feedback to heart for potential additions to the game once the jam ends. You guys should think about doing the same!

Developer

Yeah. Did you see the cutscene by any chance? I made that, and wouldn't mind some feedback.

Submitted(+1)

I did see it. I liked it, I think other people pointed it out but it was impressive that it was made within the time of the jam. As I'm not an animator myself I don't think I could give much feedback on the animation just cause I don't know animation techniques, but from an outsider's perspective, I thought it was good. I found the big hallucination guy funny because of how he taunted Trevor and how he was animated, dancing in the background. I did like the camera work. The shots you had looked nice and were well-composed. The story made sense and it was easy to follow. So for the story, the animation definitely accomplished that goal. Again, great job to yourself and everyone on the team!

Developer

YES! Someone liked my cutscene! Thanks!

Yeah I used rule of thirds and balance for the cutscene. Those are the two camera compositions tricks I recently learned that sounded the most important to me, and easiest to do.

I'm glad story was clear,  without having to do a lot of explaining dialogue. I heard "show, don't tell" is a writing tip. Yes, the dancing ghost guy was funny. A teammate said it was dark that he was taunting Trevor, which is also true when you think about it.

And yeah, I'm far from mastering animation principles. I know of them, but would still need lots of practice. I did focus on facial expressions and did improve on body poses tho.

And yeah it was a team effort! I couldn't have made this game without the team and vice versa!

Thanks for your feedback and beating the game!

Submitted(+1)

This is really unique! Really good use of the theme, I wasn't expecting a pseudo horror game with cutscenes of all things to be made in a week.

Developer

thanks! So you saw the cutscene i made? What did you think of it?

Submitted(+1)

It was a little intense honestly, so initially I thought it was a game over screen, until I realized it was the ending cutscene. Not what I was expecting for the win screen, I'm guessing there is a different ending for if you get all the pinecones?

Developer

I totally didn't realize some people might interpret it as a game over cutscene. So I learned something from your feedback. Thanks!

i did write an alternate ending but it was actually a sadder  ending.

Submitted(+1)

Amazing work, its crazy this was done in a week! Your team should be proud!

Developer

Thanks!

Great game. Fits the theme really well. Genuinely really scary stuff. Lost at the end because  an enemy was cowering from my veichals lights and I did not realize he could kill me while cowering. Really well designed, well built, and well executed. great game

Even though I died kinda far in and got jump scared by pipes falling I had a great time playing and need to replay soon to finish it out. I liked the mechanics of taking care of the vehicle as you move along (felt like Far: Lone Sails which is also a great game) and needing to collect resources while constantly fighting off new enemies. Some of them get pretty fast at the end which is what got me. It's a nice gameplay balance which I know is hard to hit in such a short time. Great job!

P.S. Art style is amazing

Developer

NICE! WE DID IT! Thanks to our epic team! And thanks to Big Mode admins for deadline extension! Ps everybody beat the game and see the epic cutscenes I made!
