WOW! I mean the 3D environment feel great job. The controls and sensitivity was absurd to control and even after changing the settings....not sure what I am doing wrong. will read comments..... and yea so I see a lot of this below... interesting looks like a lot of work for such a crazy game that is so out of control to control?

3/5

Developer

it’s just a different control scheme to what people are used to usually used to, stick with it for like 20 minutes and it’ll feel natural

Submitted

Music and art are great. Remind me a lot of early 3D arcade games. Unfortunately, the camera and controls made it a little difficult to play for me.  I thought the target change would direct the missiles, but it was not the case, so I don't get what is the purpose of it. I can tell there is a lot of technical skill and passion behind this, I think it just need a little bit more time on the oven, and will be great. Best of luck!

Developer

Target change is for changing targets for your missiles to lock onto! I made the lock on distance too short, but you have to get decently close to lock on unfortunately

Submitted

controls are hard, but were alright once i got the hang of it. Love the bosses, and the sense of scale is pretty great. Its a bit annoying that projectiles can hit but not damage if out of their ranges.

I like the part where jeremy says "its jeremying time" and jeremys all over the place from his jeremy plane

Developer

projectiles always damage if they hit, but they despawn if unlocked for too long because of lag reasons

Submitted

ah yeah that might have been what was happening. oops, still great game

Submitted

It's most probably from me not playing enough plane style games on pc but the controls were a little hard in the start but then I got used to it. The game was pretty fun overall and I love the art style and the explosions too. Overall really good game.

Submitted

Now Jeremy is on the plane, it's cool, and the game is cool too. Good boss design and music. Nice!

idk but my gun and missles doesnt do any damge is anything wrong?

Developer

You are too far away! You need to be roughly 2km from the target to lock on with missiles and roughly 1km away to hit with the gun

ok

It was fantastic to fly around feeling like you're really in there, I really got to role play at some moments, that was the best thing in this game. I also like there are important control options and a leaderboard. Scores there are insane, wtf! First time I got 2k+, then I got challenged and next run I got 12k+, but I died just when Margaret is in the death animation, so it wasn't saved sadly 😢. I guess the things you could work on are; Scale down texts in UI, HUD arrow indicators that point to the weakpoints, add sfx to shooting the missile (unless it has already that I didn't hear?), and maybe FOV shift when boosting, or FOV option in the settings.

Developer

half of those suggestions are already in the game lol, i had to make the missile sound quiet because it got really annoying hearing it in playtesting

Submitted

I knew it! There was missile sound, I could hear a bit. I guess the music was way too immersive haha

JEREMY IS BACK YOOO!! 5/5 he is on a plane

Well, that took a long time, but I kind of got used to the controls and downed Stevee. That was quite the experience. The game is huge, and the visuals are outstanding. If you don't play flying sims, you really need to take your time to learn the controls.

However, it's well worth it. The visuals and music are outstanding, the music is so epic, you really feel like you're the hero saving the world. One of the best games I've played so far in this jam, incredible complete and polished. Congratulations on an amazing game!

Developer(+1)

Hello! I did the music for this game and just wanted to say that I'm glad you enjoyed it and that it helped compliment your Jeremy experience! :D

Ok right off the bat, this game looks astonishing visually. I dig the cel-shaded cartoony style graphics. The UI is also fantastic. I think this game definitely deserves  5/5 stars for art.

So this is an arcady flight simulation game. I'm guessing that you drew inspirations from games like Star Fox and Ace Combat for this one. Now i haven't played  many games of this genre so my thoughts may not be so accurate but i also made a flight simulation game which is not even remotely good as this one. I got some first hand experiences from there. The main issue i had with this game are the controls and movement. You can maneuver the plane in the vertical axis by w and s, you can rotate the plane by roll keys, a and s. You should have also added the "yaw" controls which is the ability to move the plane left or right. The lack of yaw controls make the targets difficult to hit since you cannot aim accurately.  Target locking is activated when you come too close to the target. I think you made it to prevent spamming rockets and easily kill everything but right now you need to get way too closer to the target to lock on target. I think lock on should be activated a little further away from the target

There's too much light and particle effects going on in the screen, it could be distracting and confusing sometimes. I managed to beat both of the bosses. Game isn't difficult once you get the hang of it. I would personally prefer that you dogfight against ace pilots or something or gigantic airships/fortresses like Ace Combat but i like these enemies as well. They remind me of shadow of the colossus bosses.

I think this is a great game and i like it pretty much. It's a bold decision to make flight simulation in a game jam. Most people play much safer(like me)so i really admire you for that.  Keep making good games and good luck!

I can't believe you guys got this within the time frame this is really cool! I love jet arcade games so much and this was a joy to play! The camera was being a bit too sensitive while playing and I did have a difficult time using my mouse in collaboration with keys to get around so I'd say that's somethin to refine, but otherwise excellent work!

Developer

You can change the mouse sensitivity in the settings

woa, jeremy's back
anyway this game is very difficult but ultra polished, awesome

I felt like I was saving the world. The game feels like we are real heroes. The voice acting is good! The boss feels like Godzilla. But the control is really very difficult. If I were to make a suggestion, it might be when pressing the move button. There will be an arrow showing which way the plane is moving. Does the player really press the correct direction in which they want to move?

I'd love for you to try my game if you're interested.

Submitted

Nice game! It's funny and epic.

I can't take the controls at 100% but it's enjoyable

Submitted

Took a while to get used to the control but after that the bosses are pretty easy. The visual and the music are really cool, really like how the music end when the boss die. Also the scale of the bosses are insane.

The gameplay is interesting, I like the grazing, tho I mainly just used the railgun after I realized the other weapons deal little to no damage compare to it. Also its pretty hard to control the jet, sometimes I cant find the boss for a while.

But overall, really cool game!

Developer(+1)

Hey nice, you found a fatal flaw to this game, people who are too scared to graze a lot will think that the bosses are far too tanky, so to compensate I needed to make them weaker, but this also meant that people who graze a lot can kill the bosses in like 2 minutes

Submitted

That was THICK (if you know what i mean).  Boss fights are really epic, felt like haunting a mammoth again, lol. You did a great job on making shaders, very juicy!

Aiming too hard imo, I would make some auto aim stuff, but maybe thats cuz i've never player jet games before. Best tactic for me was collecting overcharge and nuking this chunky boi.

That was definetelly a fun experience. Great entry!

Submitted

I wanted to play the game but the controls are weird, jet games need more arcade gameplay to give the correct thrill of real jets, I love the scale and design of the bosses but the gameplay puts me off

Developer

it literally is arcade gameplay lmao, what kinda games you talking about

Submitted

When I said like arcade games its a comparison between Need for Speed and Forza (I guess), I think more automatic controls for some of the boring parts of controlling a jet would be better for the gameplay.

Developer

Gonna need more details than that. This game is already enough to make DCS players weep, I don't know how much extra I can simplify before it becomes a rail shooter

Submitted

I really really really want to like this. It's a arcade jet sim, I fucking love games like this. I think I spent 30 minutes trying to beat the first boss, the first 10 was figuring out that you could actually damage the boss, you just needed to be super close. Then I spend 10 minutes slowly getting his hp down, picking at the eyes one after another. And then I got to the part where you were supposed to finish him, and after 5 minutes of just trying to figure out where the hell the head was, and actually try to catch up to it, I gave up. For me, this was insanely frustrating.

That said, the visuals and presentation is absolutely top notch. The music is packing, the visuals are sparkling and it's hella juicy. In prep for BRJ I tried Jeremys idea of capitalism, and I had very similar qualms about it. It's a super well polished game, looks amazing, sounds amazing, but I just don't think the it's fun.

All in all, I love to see some different genres poking in here, flight sim isn't what to expect at a boss rush jam. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Sorry about that! its a little hard to represent distance at this scale, try out the second boss though, its less of a drag (hopefully) and has a more straightforward finisher
Glad to see someone who actually plays the genre play this game though, thanks for playing

Submitted

Second boss was actually a lot more fun to play! Judging distance is really difficult, but when I figured out that the gun and missiles are completely useless and the only way to actually do damage is by using the super mega ultra beam thing it was actually not too bad.

Submitted

The massive scale of the boss is wild! it feels super cool though i would say the controls feel slightly off overall, and the amount of changing numbers and ui bits hurt my smooth brain. Peak Jeremy game.

Submitted

Amazing presentation and amazing boss design, it was a real joy to play!
