Game's Take on the Theme
The player has mastery of a technique known as the forbidden spin, which they can use by pressing the Z button. It is an essential mechanic to complete the game.
Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
I made all of the character art, however most of the UI were free assets, I did not create music or sounds.
If not, please link to any asset packs or resources used here.

great implementation, nice work!
I had the same problem with the scroll hahaha! It was fun, I had trouble against the final boss because those shurikens stunlocked me to death a lot, then in an attempt I got lucky and defeated him. Nice job!
fun game with cool and simplistic art style. could see this being expanded upon further to be even greater! i did have some issues on the movement for controls when hitting multiple directions on the arrow keys the player just stops altogether but otherwise gameplay felt fun and challenging!
Same with the scroll here :) music is great! and sfx are quite nice (battle noises), darn monk was too strong at first. WIsh I had more HP. Oh, and some more controls, so I could move Left and Down at the same time or more smoothly
I also checked your previous games here. Great designs!
couldnt continue the game until I read it in the comments that I had to click on the scroll, I would love for this game to have a diagonal movement. loved the music and the concept of the game as the assassins are hunting you down.
Same problem with the scroll as people here! haha
And this may be my thing, but I'll love moving diagonally. Many times I pressed two directions to try a diagonal and just stopped the movement completely.
Other than than, nice job! it was fun!
Cool concept, the controls need some tweaking, and at the start didn't realize I had to click the scroll, but yeah some good ideas like the setting :)
I like the mid eastern/ persian music. Also love the assassins as boss as a concept. I think the controls are taking a bit of time to register. But still fun tho.
Fun game! I think the control need some work tho. For example, your character should be able to move diagonally if you hold 2 arrow key like up left, up right, etc.
They need a star system for writing and narrative because I feel like this game has a lot of personality! I have a weird feeling about the combat. It feels stiff and some stuff definitely needs some polish but it feels very open ended and chaotic, I had alot of fun playing it.
The best part has to be the boss intro and how each upgrade has a narrative connection instead of a just +1 Damage. Overall its a fun experience!
Lots of contents and the boss design is pretty cool. I like the slimes especially. The dialogue is fun too.
There could be some polish up on the animations. But overall this is quite a enjoyable game and the spin attack also fits the theme. Great job!
The art is really nice, as is the dialog! The controls seem very unresponsive for an action game, I would make the wind-up a lot shorter and the hitbox bigger for the attack. Also I think I found a bug, where if you stand at the location where the boss comes on screen, you immediately get damaged when the dialog finishes.
Anyways, nice job and I look forward to seeing what you do in the future :)
I enjoyed the art style and dialogue! The controls can feel unresponsive sometimes, but this game has good potential! nice job!
The game looks and feels pretty fun.
The art style is well maintained. The dialogues are a separate pleasure. It's a pity that they can't be skipped when losing. Because, well, they are quite short and funny. I will allow myself some criticism. The game lacks at least a small tutorial on the controls, because they feel quite unresponsive and require getting used to (picking up a scroll at the beginning is a rather non-trivial task, even if you know that you need to do it, and the stamina system works in a special way, it takes time to figure it out). Perhaps it is worth improving the bosses with more clearly telegraphed attacks. Anubis seems to hit you directly and you have absolutely no idea what to do with it.
At the same time, the bosses are varied, they run around the arena in a funny way, and do not let you get too bored. It is obvious that a lot of work was put into the project.
Well done!
I really enjoyed this one! The art was great and I liked the writing for the bosses. I wasn't able to beat the superhero boss and it would have been nice to be able to move diagonally. Overall great job!
Thank you, I'll make sure to review your game as well!
Very good game. The retro visuals definitely deserve five stars, and the music too. Great work—I hope you keep developing it, as it has the potential to be a very appealing game. Good luck in the Jam!
Thank you! I rated your game as well.
I like the dialog, and is the loan shark an actual shark? Haha! Good game, I can tell you're still working on improving it. Well done!
Controls are a bit unresponsive and I'd recommend a WASD option due to the active usage of the mouse, but all those aside a pretty neat game. Nice work!
It's a pretty fun game. It took me forever to figure out that I had to click on the scroll at the beginning, almost gonna quit :D
I feel that the jump is not very useful and the spin attack is a bit too strong. Otherwise it's original and fun! Well done!
Would love if you can review my entry. Thanks
Loved the anubis design and pixel style!
One thing that was a bit frustrating was that pressing 2 directions at once made the character unable to move, and some of the colliders on the environment were unintuitive, causing me to get suck and hit by the boss when there was nothing visually blocking me
Unfortunately there are a lot of bugs in the game, I will do my best to make it better! I'll also check out your game.
