Game's Take on the Theme
A lunch themed boss rush using a Lazy Susan as the main game space. All mechanics revolve around manipulating and spinning the Lazy Susan strategically.

Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
No. The only aspect of the art that we worked on was the boss and his animations. We didn't have the time or manpower to do much of the 3D Modelling aside from the table itself.

Hey what a neat game you got there with unique mechanics! I loved the comedy factor in it! The boss's seemed to do the same thing and look the same except some shooting in the end.

Congrats on submission, and good luck!

I rated and submitted to return the favor of your rate submission of my game below!

- If others read this, RATE/REVIEW my game to get me to try yours as well! Thanks!

We're glad you enjoyed the game!

I had something like that when was at a Chinese restaurant. Game is very well balanced. Nice graphics and gameplay is easy to learn

Developer

Glad you made it out of that experience alive that must've been very scary

Submitted(+1)

Scary in a good way. Love the visual.

Opposite from my game......

Developer

Thanks for playing!

My favorite game I've rated so far! when he hit me with the don't move for the first time it was hilarious. I did not expect that lmao. Great sound, great look, fun concept, the emails are funny, etc. The only thing I didn't love was that it doesn't fully feel like a boss rush since the boss is the same boss every time. Sorry to hear about the submitting troubles with the webgl.

Developer(+1)

That's huge praise, we really appreciate it!

The most unique and fun take on the theme I’ve played so far! The aesthetics are top-notch, the dialogue is delightfully quirky, and the difficulty scales perfectly. The tutorial was a welcome addition as well. Excellent job!

Developer

Really appreciate the very kind feedback!

Submitted(+1)

I really like the style of this game! The difficulty definitely ramps up as you defeat more bosses. Pretty fun.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing!

Fun game!  Once I realized you needed energy to throw plates, it started to make more sense. I was in a standoff with seemingly no way out for a while lol. I do feel like you need the infinite energy to make meaningful progress though, especially in the last fight, otherwise he heals too quickly. Otherwise, fun game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Balancing is the biggest hang-up we had, and we've already been talking about  how we could change it, so we appreciate feedback like this

Submitted(+1)

One of the more unique ones I've seen. I had a good time from start to finish. Because it was easy to understand the mechanics. I kinda liked the tutorial aswell. The difficulty also very well balanced. Makes me wonder how fun it would be in a coop setting!!!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Local/Online multiplayer would absolutely be a thing we'd love to do if we can achieve our ambition of fleshing the game out to a full release

What an amazing game ! Seriously, I was so into it the whole time.

The main mechanic is really easy to grasp but still offer a lot of interesting situations, I felt terrible when slamming the table a little to early and failing to make Don eat the rotten plate while losing all of my energy.

The messages between fight are hilarious too.

On the balancing note, I felt like the infinite energy was maybe too powerful for its own good, at one point I just stacked a bunch of plate and waited for an infinite energy to drop so I could minigun the boss with plates, which was amazing but slightly OP.

Seriously, congrats. It really feel like it could be expanded into a way bigger game.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and discovering the game's most broken strategy! Really really appreciate the kind feedback

Russian roulette but with plates :-) An interesting idea and execution. Maybe the welcoming section should be shorter for faster onboarding. Congrats.

Developer

We made the welcoming section a little on the longer side for Jam standards because we felt like the game's pace and mechanics could potentially be really overwhelming, so we wanted the player to really get comfortable with them before the first boss. But we might've overdone it in that regard, thanks a lot for the feedback we'll definitely take it into account!

I loved this game! What a creative take on the theme, I was hooked from the start with the emails and interactions with best boss Don, what a great guy! Congratulations on this awesome entry!

Developer(+1)

I love that Don guy he's just a wonderful person. Thanks for playing!

Wow!  This is by far one of the more unique implementations on the spin theme that I've seen.  The art is well stylized and the gameplay is pretty fun once you get a hang of the controls.  That last phase of the boss was a pretty fun touch and gave me a bit of a scare haha.  Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your kind feedback, glad to hear that the boss' last phase got a bit of a scare out of you, we were incredibly proud of that animation!

I finally know the proper etiquette for business luncheons, playing this game has changed my life and I will finally find gainful employment. My grandmother will be so proud of me.

What an enjoyable experience. Absolutely loved the lore and the emails from Middle Manager Bill, its very well written and genuinely funny, great work. You were able to create a whole world with 3 distinct characters in like 4 paragraphs which is sick. Such a interesting take on the theme too, the game is dripping with spin, well done. The aesthetic kicks ass, the music is gnarly and adds to the vibe tremendously, the sfx are great, the art style is super unique. I think you had a solid difficulty curve and found a nice balance between difficulty and fun. The main menu is great. I pretty much loved everything about this game lol, wish I had more constructive feedback but there's nothing really standing out to me that needs improvement. Some nitpicks are that it wasn't super clear what the big pineapple or fruit platter plates did, so maybe adding a short description of them into the controls section would be cool. The boss design is awesome and it was an interesting boss rush to "wine and dine" the Don, but maybe it would be cool to shmooze with some of his underlings before fighting him? But also maybe not, it was pretty interesting to develop my business relationship with Mr. Belphegor over time, so probably don't listen to me on that one. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this game, excellent job everybody! Keep it up!!!

edit: +1 to adding multiplayer, and just caught the Lazy Susan Belphegor reference from another comment, super sick stuff

Developer(+1)

This is such a kind comment, we really really appreciate it. We unfortunately didn't have enough time to implement character designs and animations for more than just the one boss here, but with the overwhelming support we've gotten throughout this jam so far, we've been feeling very motivated to turn this into a fully fledged commercial release with a whole series of bosses and more attention to depth and balancing within the gameplay and hopefully that'll come with some multiplayer functionality as well. Thank you so much for playing our game!

The rotation theme is executed brilliantly! This is honestly one of the most original games I’ve seen here. The voice work is a big plus, and the visuals are really pleasing too.

You guys put in some serious effort, and it shows — great job!

Developer

We really appreciate your very kind feedback, thanks for playing and enjoying our game!

Got pretty intense and was super satisfying after I got the hang of it. Forcing the boss to eat bad food always feels good and not being able to throw a plate to defend yourself while eating makes things interesting. Good use of the theme too. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the kind feedback!

What the hell is this I love it !

Unrelated but it would be pretty fun to play this against a friend.

Developer

We would absolutely love to add multiplayer functionality, that'd be so much fun. Thanks for the suggestion and for enjoying our game!

Business meal into a high-stakes battle is both hilarious and intense. I loved the chaotic nature of trying to manage so many things at once, but was hard to get used to it.

Developer

Yea it's super valid to be overwhelmed by everything flying at you at first, we really should've had a more gradual difficult curve. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Took me some time to figure it out but I spent good time playing the first bosses.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

super creative mechanic around spinning the lazy susan, its like a rotating arsenal of weapons that both you and the boss have access to. i like how it ties in a bit of culture/customs such as if a plate stops in front of you, you are obliged to eat it, even if it's bad.

i think for me the main thing that's unclear is the energy meter - while playing i could see it go up and down, and i could tell that some actions i want to do like spin the lazy susan or chuck plates can't be done, my best guess is that it's related to having too low energy but it's not explicit. i think it would be useful if you made it more clear how much energy gets used/is required to do a certain action, or how it replenishes.

also if you play pretty equally in skill level to the boss and both of you are constantly regen-ing health, then i find that the level can just go on forever, which is a bit mentally draining since everything is constantly moving and really fast. you might want to consider incorporating some sort of break or forced end (for example, the level is timed, since irl you can only sit at a restaurant for a certain duration before you have to leave).

otherwise suuuuper solid and fun lil game! post processing is hot and lots of room for expansion and detailing in the game art. good job guys!

Developer(+1)

This is some awesome feedback, you've already given us so many strong avenues to go down from here in terms of improving the clarity and game feels so very big thanks for how thorough you went into dissecting the game
