Nice gameplay and art is cute. That was a fun play!

It plays nicely but it also has some balancing issues, the tower shooting in both directions is a tad useless for example. I feel like some towers shouldn't be able to get targeted by every enemy, some kind of type synergy would have been better (like flying enemies ignoring rocks and similar structures).

Some kind of progressive introduction of mechanics would be better to understand the game but that's not really in the scope of a jam.

Overall, pretty solid submission.

One of the devs here. Thanks for playing, we appreciate it! I completely agree about the flying enemy, it should ignore the blockade and the two direction tower would make more sense if we would have balanced the game better. Unfortunately we were running out of time so we had very limited time for balancing, with an extra day we could have made it a better experience !

It had been a while since I last played a game of this style, this was a neat surprise! The game itself was really fun, and there was a really good amount of enemy variety! I also like how the progress of the round is determined by whether its night or day.

In the last minute of the night I decided to try the insta-kill beacon and it did the end of the night really easy, to the point in which I felt that maybe it was a bit too overpowered, but that was just a tiny issue in my opinion, nothing too big.

I'm one of the devs and thanks for the feedback! I completely agree about the insta-kill beacon. The tower itself is kinda tricky as that was the only insta-kill one, so, in my opinion, it didn't fit in that great and was hard to debuff, as it was very easy to make it either too OP or too weak to even consider using.

It's another tower defense game, this time heavily inspired by PVZ, but it is one well executed with the dark stormy setting, nice variety of towers and shadowy enemies, and constant dynamics due to the variety of game elements. Many towers hold a unique purpose, and each enemy type makes sure that these perks are valuable in some way. For example, the jumping shark enemy makes both the pink beacon that deals with flying enemies and double-barreled ship that deals with enemies behind far more applicable than most PVZ iterations make these archetypes out to be. It's a game that shows understanding of its inspiration and incorporates its own ideas to elevate itself and what came before. The only issues I have are that the towers not being effective against flying enemies don't really convey that with just projectiles passing through the enemies, and some towers are still difficult to make use out of, like the insta-kill beacon, lane cleaner boat, and the light beacon to an extent.

Wish the UI was in the game itself instead of at the start

Also you can farm infinitely on the first flying mob if you can't kill it. Happened to me because i didn't realize it was flying

Was able to win but was even a little challenging, very nice! Loved the visuals, audio, and the overall strategy aspect of the game and it's really well made. To improve on it, sometimes the unit doesn't get placed when I think it should be, there may be some minor responsiveness bugs. Other than that I think you did a really great job on this game!

Wow this is one of my favorite games I have played this jam, I really enjoyed the gameplay! I think the amount of UI you had was also insane, I totally knew how to play and what I was doing. Great job!

Nice work.  Great art.  The little touches, animations, lightning flashes etc make a big difference.

I love me some plants vs zombies, so this was a great jam game. I really liked the way that you incorporated the jam theme into the gameplay, and thought that you made some really interesting design decisions. I liked the darkness aspect, and I liked the tower that gave you light so that you could see, pretty interesting dynamic. As for feedback, I think that the UI could have used a bit more polish given the time, and that some of the balancing of the towers was a bit off, but other than that, great game. Good job!
