How does your game fit the theme?
After the death of the protagonist, he is reborn into his favorite video game. He now has a new beginning and another chance at life after his untimely end.
Also in the game itself, each bird is created by the death of the previous bird.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?

Wonderful game! Very good considering there was only a week to develop it :)
The theme is fully covered and the mechanic of the player "dying" to move around looks fun
Glad you enjoyed it :D
Cool concept! I really enjoy the art and the gameplay it all feels very polished. My only advice ould be to maybe draw out a bit of the trajectory of the egg since I found that a bit difficult before learning how it worked :). Other than that really good work!
Thanks for playing! It was in the plans to have a lil trajectory arc, so I completely get where you're coming from it would make a big difference. Glad you enjoyed it!
The background has the details! Those details tell the other side, previous world's happenings after the protagonists death, and that's clever. It's also fun to toss yourself around the areas, and it's just satisfying to hit the targets. As for the boss itself, I'm confused to how or when it becomes vulnerable. So in the end I wasn't able to beat it.
Still, I think the game captures the theme nicely with its lore, notably with the aforementioned regarding the background itself. It reminds the player somehow that the protagonist have already ended its previous life and this is the new one.
Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it! You're definitely not the only one that has struggled with figuring out the boss at the end, so it's definitely something to work on. Glad you noticed the details!
I really liked your take no the theme!! One of the best implementations I've seen.
And the mechanic of throwing eggs is very fun to play around with. My only advice is that the boss battle could be more clear, it took me like 6 minutes to kill the boss even with the instructions in the description (but that may be a skill issue XD)
Thank you so much! I completely agree that the boss could use a bit more clarity, I didn't quite have the time to put in the extra animations to help the player know what to do lol, but thanks very much for sticking with it :)
Awesome concept and overall good game. However, the boss was little confusing.
i agree
The art was beautiful. the theme was implemented in a unique way which I love, the mechanics and the level design were very good. The only problem was the boss which I still haven't figured out how I beat it. Loved it
Thank you so much for the kind words! I agree the boss could use a bit of work, it was a bit of a late addition so It still has some ironing out to do lol. Thanks again :D
Very fun concept. Make the dialogues shorter. I was kinda confused with the boss. He shoots arrows way to randomly and i dont get why they sometimes hit him and sometimes pass through him
Yeah the boss could be a lot more clear, I made the mistake of starting work on it with like half a day left lol so it could be improved. I had taken the collider of the head out as a temp fix, cause the projectiles kept hitting him straight away. Thanks for the feedback!
Nice game. Loved the parallax view of the room in the background, what a neat idea. I like how you integrated the tutorial into the game. Kind of funny that the first higher jump I came to was right under the 'Fast (with two up arrows) sign so I was trying to smash my jump really fast...but that ended up making me do really short jumps. Then to find it was one of a pair of signs Fast or Easy...I chuckled at my mistake.
The jumping mechanic is neat, however my aiming was not always spot on. I left a huge wake of dead chickens.
At the start, I thought the age old question was going to be: Which came first, the chicken or the egg. Funny that's what your Rebirth title page made me think of.
Great submission!
Lol I'm glad you enjoyed it! You're not the first person to say their aim wasn't great, which is sort of my fault really because I had intended to add in an indicator or aim guide, but ran out of time. Thanks so much for playing!
I also forgot to add....I loved that you fixed the aspect ratio 1:1. This isn't something I even considered doing before. Felt unique and a feeling of closeness...instead of open and airy.
I'm actually really glad you said this! I've been wanting to do it for a while now and this felt like a good time to give it a shot, so I'm happy it hasn't gone unnoticed thanks :)
Fun little platformer. The main mechanic of firing your eggs worked well and fit well within the theme. The little cutscene at the start was great and then the added details of seeing the characters in the background added a lot to the gameplay. Main thing that felt off was the trajectory of firing the egg. Having a little path indicator like how it is in peggle would make it so players know where theyre firing to (* after reading below looks like you planned for that. Definitely something that would add a lot if you continue post jam)
Loved the parallax background with the IRL room lol. Gameplay is not quite my cup of tea but overall a very solid game, cool story concept as well!
Thanks for playing :)
I love the concept, quite unique. The game is fun and exciting to play, but the first boss was too hard for me xD. The game feels a bit slow (movement speed and cooldown on jump, but it's just personal feeling). Music and visuals are great!
Thanks for the feedback! I had played around a bit with different move speeds while making the level, and when it was fast it just didn't quite feel right so I went with what it currently is. Might have to give it a bit more tweaking later though
great platformer. really frustrating too :]
What parts did you find frustrating? Were there any other parts that you got stuck on?
i mean i enjoyed it. it was good frustrating, kinda like Pogostuck.
Oh phew Im glad hahah. I was hoping it was that kind of frustration
Very interesting little game! :) Feedback I can give you is the movement felt a bit slow (maybe that was on purpose though) and like some have also said; feedback about how high you'll fly would make it better.
The game was very well made! Very impressive work! :)
Thanks for playing! I had intentionally made the player slow when they just hatch to make them feel a bit more vulnerable until they grow up, but maybe I overdid it a little. Thanks again!
Very nice visuals and nice parallax effect. It was a bit hard to understand how to fight the boss and it was also annoying that you could die when you jumped into the room and on top of the boss and the controls were overall a bit "weird"
Yeah I had tried to solve the issue of the boss being in the wrong spot to begin with, but it looks like it doesn't always work :|
What did you find weird about the controls?
I love the visuals of the game and how you can see all the dead bodies that have piled up.
Really nice naration and mechanics, one of the best platformers I played during this JAM so far !
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed. I'll get to yours in a bit :)
I really like the idea and aesthetics of the game, but i personally think that the controls were too frustrating. For example that you can't move while airborn and also that you can't see in which direction you are flying, but overall, pretty nice game!
Game aesthetics are brilliant, especially art! The theme is pretty hilarious but engaging.
Fortunately, I found the game easy to get the hang of with the main game mechanic - jumping. For me, it is the perfect amount of feedback about how high and in which direction I will jump but still leaving enough for the player to enjoy the learning curve. Because of that, most of the time I've heated the floors rather than hitting walls and falling down. It doesn't really need any additional UI elements to help players understand how exactly they will jump: that'd be too easy!
The game is great and I 100% enjoyed it! Keep up the great work
lmao I just had some serious Deja Vu reading that thank you
Game aesthetics are brilliant, especially art! The theme is pretty depressing but interesting.
Unfortunately, I had some trouble with the main game mechanic - jumping. For me, it is not enough feedback about how high and in which direction I will jump. Because of that, most of the time I've heated the walls rather than jump on platforms and move further. Would be nice to have some additional UI elements that help me understand how exactly I will jump.
But still, the game is great and I mostly like it!
Thanks so much for the feedback! I do agree with you on the UI, I was intending to put in a dotted line/arch in the direction of the throw, but the time limit got the better of me lol. Thanks for playing!
was fun, forgot i was able to move so i kept dying in the boss lol
Lol Thanks for playing! You said you forgot you could move - How was the movement in general? Did you find it easy or difficult to control?
thanks again!
it was easy to move, just arrow keys or A and D (the description didn't specify you could use arrow keys). i did find it a bit annoying that you immediately stop after touching the ceiling instead of flying further across the ceiling
Ok thanks for the feedback! In retrospect I definitely could've had the player egg just bounce off the ceilings instead of stop completely. Good advice thanks :)
