using the mascot as player character...
also I used to get overwhelmed around third round... maybe difficulty increases a lot or I am too bad at these games...
Thanks for trying the game out! Ive had very very different opinions from people on the games difficulty curve and as the game is its the kind of thing that if you can get past the initial round you can get so much light every round that you just buy infinite items and get really overpowered. If I go back to update this game ill look into a way to maybe make the beginning a little easier without making the endgame even more chaotic than it becomes. Regardless, I'm glad you enjoyed :)
Yeah... If you practically bath yourself in the light in the first round it becomes easier but still onwards round three if one doesn't upgrade much they just get overwhelmed I believe...
Maybe increasing the round timer slightly would do, because two of the times light part spawned too far...

Found the weapon switching system a little inconvenient, a much 'simpler M1 for melee, M2 for ranged'-control scheme would have probably worked better here considering you only have 2 modes of attack.
The gun feels a bit underwhelming and maybe you could have at least added some simple grey box particles or whatever when you hit an enemy to comunicate they took damage but other than that this is a really enjoyable and polished game. Well done.

I had initially thought of doing a left click - right click system for the weapons but thought it'd be easy to spam both at once and figured using the number keys was an alright alternative, but i will keep it on my list of things to look into when i go back to update this game, as well as making hits be more apparent with some kind of effect. Like it very much! The only two things I noteced:
1. Not really sure about close attack weapon. Hit box is very strange or doesn't work for me. Maybe I didn't play enough or didn't catch how it works properly
2. Not sure about font. For my eyes the font is not so comfortable
But all of this are really minor things. The game itself is really good! Like the music and art very much. Really good job!
This is absolutely amazing game. I really enjoyed it and got to idk round 4 or 5, the poison throwing got me.
I really like the art style of the simplicity and it is really easy to start playing. Its good that there is a variety of enemies and the goal is to stay in the light, which helps the player think if they should risk it for more light points even though there is a bunch of enemies(in the first round i was confused why i only had 2 light points and couldn't buy anything ;/ )
This game is a simple but well put together banger!! If you did this by yourself thats insane bc this is a lot more polished than a lot of the other products here put together by a full team :o and it plays really well! I love the simplicity making it easy to understand but the levels feel well scaled enough to still have some level of difficulty involved. I exploded after about lvl 4 I think
In terms of gameplay, i wish there was a little more indication that enemies were hit by attacks but also where their health is at, because the player at the start has to just brute force it and therefore lose a lot of health trying to figure out what the monsters do. In any case, its a pretty small nitpick and overall I like the way it feels and plays :) Your game rocks!
thanks a bunch! I did make this game myself but at the cost of my sleep for 6 days to get it to where it is in time :(. A lot of the issues people have been mentioning were things i noticed very last minute including the lack of hit indication, so ill make sure to add it to my list of things to update. Thanks for playing though! :D
I loved the parallax background
The art is good, the game itself is creative. Love the story, the Gameplay is enjoyable and the theme is utilized perfectly here. Overall rly fun, do wish I could heal Amazing Job you should be proud.
glad you enjoyed! I only had 2 upgrades related to healing and I realized not long before I had to submit that it probably wasnt enough :/. Ill get around to updating the game when the jam is over but thanks again for checking it out :D
It is very creative and has a good design, however it needs some polishing to be more enjoyable, good job
Liked the game, on a good start which can be improved easily in future with more polish and gameplay variation.
I noticed that I commented in the game page accidentally, so I'm copying my comment here.
I really like the idea, it's just missing a bit more of polish to feel more rewarding, and the collision shapes look a bit off to me, but that may be just me.
The core gameplay loop is very fun however, and the style too.

Woah! Good game ,I don't have much to say.. The music is cool ,the hitbox is a bit small :/ And thats what i have to say ,I can't complain much xDD

nice! my highscore was 863 light. those spitting guys can go to hell. i loved the upgrades, i couldn't work out how to do a ranged attack? i was just shrimp meleeing the whole time. i had fun though
thanks for playing. I tried to show it in that initial controls screen, but you just use your 1 and 2 keys to swap between your weapons. I was also planning to change the ranged guy to be less annoying by stopping a little closer to you but I didn;t get to do it by the deadline. Still very happy you had fun tho :D
The game is quite fun, and I really like the aesthetic, it fits the vibe well. The sound was a bit lacking, but overall it’s pretty good.

Love the animation on death, the art in general is top-notch. I wish you had time to add SFX, that would have made it even better.
