Just looking at the other comments and I want to say I had absolutely no problem with the web version but maybe that's because I didn't make it to the end or something.

This is a well-fleshed-out game with different combat mechanics and enemy types, the one annoying thing was that during fighting, any time I go near a door it sucks me through to the other room, eventually leading to my death because I got thrown into a bullet from one of those star things. But I give this a good rating because the other bits are fine.

Yeah. The doors are a bit vexing. We originally had them all locked, but I insisted on allowing the player to backtrack without beating all enemies. In hindsight, the doors should have all been F to interact, like we had in the tutorial. By the time I realized that, it felt too close to launch to properly fix and bug-test. Probably in a post-jam patch.

Pretty nice, it's an interesting mixture of mechanics, a small puzzle creating your own path with enemies. Good job!

I love the building part but fighting was not that good.  I like attention to detail like pressing space to fast forward dialogs. If fighting part was polished I would played it a lot longer.

Really cool game overall, I especially like that you build your own level. The visuals and the sound also tie together nicely and the game loop works well as a whole.

My only complaint is that the movement feels a bit too rapid/jaggy in my opinion, as you go from standing still to full speed immediately - maybe having a bit of acceleration before reaching your max speed would have helped with that but that is honestly personal preference.

All in all it is a great game though, well done! :)

There is lot of mechanic and content, visuals fit well together. "Tower of Pain" mode is a good addition.

I made to the 7. I lost most of my health to the ranged bots.

Very fun to play and easy to grasp. Building your levels is an interesting idea and there is a lot of variety in terms of enemies and room layouts. Also, I really liked sound effects and background music. They fit the game nicely.

I found it a bit difficult to understand when the opponent attacks you and when it defends themselves from animation. Other than that, the game plays well. Great job!

A lot of people are having troubles with the web version. If you like action platformer games, treat the web version as a demo, then play for real on the downloadable version. The itch client makes it pretty easy to manage installs.

I'm not sure what causes the crashes on the web app. Might be forward+ rendering on Godot 4.1. IDK.

So, as a few others have stated the game does have some crashing issues, but! Here's what I liked:

- Player animations were snappy

- The concept! I love the idea of each playthrough being different, and the "goal" made me chuckle

- Tutorials are always appreciated

- The music fit the theme/mood perfectly

The web build doesn't seem to work, unfortunately. It completely freezes.

Is it freezing on the "press any key" screen? That probably should have said "click the mouse inside the window, then press any key".

The game pops up in a new window, which doesn't automatically grab focus.

But point taken: The web build seems to be causing more problems than it was worth. Hopefully you'll try the downloadable versions.

Once I click on "Play", the container drops, but then nothing happens. The music keeps playing and eventually the whole browser freezes. I've tried it on multiple browsers.

Absolutely love the premise, the pixel art is cool, the tutorial is slick! I tried the game on a couple of browsers but when I attack or sometimes when loading the screen it stops and freezes for some time. Fun ideas implemented!

cool game, I had a bug that I defeated all enemies but the door didn't open up, So I killed myself :( Anyway very high concept for a jam. Good job and respect for pulling this off!

Argh, phantom NPCs! I hate those. They sneak out of the room when I'm not looking and get hung up inside the walls or fall off the world. 

We should have implemented a kill-zone for escaping NPCs, or been more generous with opening the doors with 1 or 2 remaining enemies. Would have been easy to do.

Very interesting concept. Building your own path to fight through is pretty neat. 

Art was to a very high standard, as were the SFX and Music. Animation work is the star of the show though. Player animations are crisp, and theres lots of variety, really liked how the big enemy with the concrete shield looked.

Decent amount of content and variety. Encountered a few unique enemy types. Very impressive given the time constraints.

For improvements, the combat does feel a bit clunky. While there is a fair bit of variation in attacks (attack sequence, heavy attack and flying versions from what I could see), combat is made hard due to the player characters movement being locked until the attack animation finishes. Being able to cancel the attack mid animation or end an animation early would improve the feel of the game imo.

Overall, good submission. Well done!

Thanks for the tip on improving the player controller. We may have underestimated how much effort needs to go into the state machine for a beat'em up game.

The good stuff:

- Excellent tutorial
- Music fits well and doesn't overpower the sound effects, which are also nice
- Animations are really smooth
- Cool idea of making your own stages

- The player movement and fighting in general feels good to use, and really easy to learn (which is very important!)


The game crashed once for me after finishing the tutorial, probably was a godot moment, but you had a skip tutorial button which was really nice.

The stuff to improve in:
- Pixel inconsistency is never good. You had a bunch of artists, there's no excuse here. Mainly talking about the background and walls in the containers.
- UI doesn't look that great... Use a different, pixelated font (because that would fit the aesthetic). Like this it looks sort of low effort, which isn't something I would describe the game as. You also had "Quit" and "Reset!" buttons made by the artists, the rest of the UI should have looked like those buttons.

Overall, really smooth gameplay, had a lot of fun with it.

The Player Animations were great and the way you implemented the scale theme is fun. making your own stage kinda thing.

The amount of Polish was really cool see. I liked the artstyle as well (although some of the animations were a bit janky). Combat was a bit boring since it just consisted of spamming 2 buttons, tho i really liked the idea of stacking those containers with a little puzzle and then fighting your way trough them.

okay, the graphics and the polish on this game is next level for a jam entry. love the sfx and all the visual feedback as well. unfortunately my game crashed on first try on the container level, but that's probably Godot web export for you. stunning job, one of the best games so far I tried on this jam!
