Who doesn't love a good tower defense game? :D
This is one of my favorite genres and I had an absolute BLAST playing this game!
Thank you for playing and the kind words!
Really good game, spent more time playing this then I have most others
Thank you so much! I'm hoping once I expand it some more and work on the game balancing it'll be ready for an actual release. haha
I hope so too, I would definitely like to play it some more
It's impressive you did an RTS style game for the Jam! Good job on this! I had fun playing it for a while.
Thanks for giving it a play! I wish I could have gotten more done but ran out of time. I'll definitely be fleshing it out some more. :D
RTS games can be super hard to pull off, nice attempt!
Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was doing. Any sort of tutorial or instruction in-game would have helped understand what I was doing and why I was doing it. Still, I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into what IS here because it all looks nice and controls well.
Congrats on finishing your game jam submission and keep making games!
Being my first game jam I ran out of time to put the instructions into the game and ended up putting them on the game page itself. Thanks for playing! :D
Been forever since I played a resource gatherer. Very atmospheric and very fun! No major complaints, it all worked together quite well and i was especially appreciative of the volume settings. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for playing! It was my first game jam and I was pushing at the end to make sure I had some options for sound and scrolling as I know it's different for everybody. :D
Nice changes to the Code Monkey Tower Defense. The art you used looked amazing. Good Job on the Game Jam submission.
Thanks. I've been trying to learn from him and Brackeys. I'm kinda sad Brackeys quit posting though. He was a good teacher too.
Nice tower defense,
When you place a tower or a resource collector, maybe add some circle area, green or red, to easily know if we are too close from an other building or not.
Great work !
That is definitely on the add list. I just wish I hadn't run out of time. Thanks for playing!
Liked it! It was a bit confusing at first tough, I would suggest to introduce buildings mechanics to the player first.
I so wanted to do at least an instruction screen but being my first jam I ran out of time and had to just put it on the page. I submitted right near the end. haha There's so much I wanted to add but timing got to me. Thanks for playing it! :D
Good job! This game is really fun. I'm on wave 24 right now and still going. Now that I've built up the resources, I'm building so many towers, it reminds me of defending against the zerg in Starcraft. I could see this game having a lot of potential cool upgrades and enemies if you kept going with it.
I definitely will. I ran out of time before I could do the final game balancing but I want to add a lot more features and eventually summoning a giant demon to actually fit the title. haha So many features I wanted and so little time. Thanks for giving it a go! :D
This was so fun, how did you make the minimap?
Cinemachine vcam. I projected it onto a texture and then made special icons for each of the resources and harvesters and only allowed them to be seen on the minimap layer. I included the source code if you want to check it out! :D Thanks for playing it!
thank you very much for explaining.
Nice! Good speed to the gameplay and controls well
Thanks for checking it out! My plan is to flesh it out with a lot more buildings and levels. :D
As tower defence games go, I found it quite relaxing. Made it to wave 20-something but got distracted with a conversation and died. The camera movement was way too fast for me - mouse and keyboard on a laptop. Combined with the camera shake, I never even got to see the enemies!
As has been mentioned by others, spheres of influence/can't build here representation would be good. I'd also like to click on the minimap and move my camera to that location.
Not the strongest connection to the theme, but not the worst by a long way.
Thanks for giving it a try. I had lots of plans but this was my first game jam and it was a learning experience. haha
I think you should keep working on it, you've got a good, solid foundation of a game. We've all had to make sacrifices to get our games out in time. Some are worth building on though and putting in those extra features
It's a tad too sensitive for laptop controls, edge scrolling and it over shoots everything. maybe add a edge scrolling speed in options. Welldone for making a game in the 10 days tho bud, i suspect my son would much prefer this game than i do.
Thanks for playing! I myself don't like edge scrolling so I only included it as a on or off toggle but I will definitely add a slider for speed as well. Appreciate the input.
It's good like the flash games time! So awesome!
Thank you for checking it out!
Awesome submission, I love these types of games!
Thank you so much!
Played and rated, nice game!
Once I understood all units and how the game works it got really fun. Played until wave 13 and eventually got bored a little.
The music is noticeably repetitive.
Overall great submission, I had fun playing for a while :)
Thanks! Yeah sounds and music were done in the last few hours on no sleep. haha Once the game jam is over I'll be fleshing it out some more and do more game balancing. This was my first game jam and it was a good learning experience.
This is a great game and has been said by others it's a good place to build from too. It took me a few moments to get the hang of where I could place certain buildings etc. Others have already mentioned the idea of upgradable buildings and more enemy variety, which I agree would also be great. Something I'd suggest is being able to see how far away buildings have to be from another of the same type, as that is something that I had a bit of an issue with.
All in all it's very fun, well done :)
Thanks for the suggestion! I'd like to add a building rings to show range and a lot more features. This was my first game jam and boy was it a learning experience!
Great work! I really like these style of games. Not sure what they're called....survival RTS? But yeah, it's always fun to hold off insurmountable odds. I think you have a great base for a game that can easily be fleshed out into something more. At the moment, I do think the game is a bit too easy. Resource collection seems to snowball really quickly and repairing the towers probably shouldn't be instant since I found if I click repair as fast as it pops up then I almost never lose a tower.
Good job with your submission! Hope you continue with developing it!
Thanks! I was trying to do some game balancing at the end but time caught up with me. haha I'm hoping to flesh it out into a full game when I'm not on a time crunch. haha
Hi, I noticed your submission is missing source folders. Your source is everything someone needs to download your game, open it in the game engine, and hit Play to play the game. In your case, your source is missing the Packages and ProjectSettings folders. Here is an example of what your source should look like: https://github.com/icepol/DeathIsOnlyTheBeginning
Okay. I read it wrong. I thought I read somewhere it needed to be the assets folder with all the scripts and everything. Let me rezip the whole game directory. It is re-uploaded with the Assets, Packages and Project Settings.
It looks good now :)
GG, you created a fun game - and a solid foundation for a lot more content I think!
After a quick few deaths I got the hang of it and managed to get the economy running and a a few solid circles of towers around said economy! Different enemies, upgradable towers and maybe some bosses in between and this game has a lot potential, good job!
Feel free to check our submission out & good luck in the future!
Thanks! I'm definitely going to be fleshing it out in the future to fit another theme we are working on. I'm heading over to check yours out now!
I agree. Fun game with lots of possibilities. More variety in enemies and tactics would be great.
