Fun game!

Submitted(+1)

This is a cool game, I had lots of fun playing it!

Lovely! It could become addictive with some additions. More customers as you said, maybe difficulty that increases, and the possibility to invest your earning into automating something to face the increasing difficulty? I loved the aesthetics, very very clean and well done.

Submitted(+1)

Paid in Lemonade. I am sure I will keep this stand.

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the idea. Simple and quite addictive. I spent a lot of time selling lemonades. It would be perfect if every time you reach a certain money goal, the speed increases! I loved it! Excellent job!

Developer(+1)

that’s a good idea and very possible without too much work!

25c still for illegal lemonade?  Prohibition makes me thirsty.  50c deduction for a broken glass, ouch!  I played until I got bored, which was around the 20$ mark.  Need a goal or target or something.  Agree that you need sound and SFX to help gameplay.  Look up an old c64 game called Tapper if you want more inspiration.

Developer

it does get dull!

There are changes I’d like to make / features I’d like to add that would probably fall outside the Jam rules. Once the jam is over I can play around with it some more.

I never thought of goals, What kind of goals do you think I could add?

Having rounds, round 1 = 15 drinks... round 2 = 20, etc... different customers want different drinks?  Testing my lemon knowledge... drink with ice, umm strawberry lemonade, lemonade and coke?  stretching it I know... the further rounds different speeds of customers?  Maybe increase the number of lanes?   Have government ppl come in a lane and you have to avoid them?  Use the monies collect to buy different equipment, increase drink production, or hire staff?  The world is your lemon my friend, squeeze it for all its worth! :)

Submitted(+1)

This game made me want to drink lemonade.

Developer

it’s freshly squeezed! Thanks for playing it!

Cool, simple game! I liked the art you did and the color palette you chose. the angles of the lanes could be a tiny but confusing, but over all, i like the concept of the game! I saw that you added a penalty for wasting lemonade, which is nice, but I wish there was an indication that that would happen. i also like how you had different colored straws to add some visual variety. congrats on the submission!

Submitted(+1)

It was fun, and I read that you didn't really have a concept. I am still glad you submitted this game, because I also see a lot of potential in it having way more to do with the basic core of it. Good job!

Submitted(+1)

Ha! I like how your story is just as ridiculous. The falling lemon slices in the menu screen is just perfect. So I guess lemonade is the drink of choice for men in suit?

Submitted(+1)

Liked the mechanic and it's working well, nice job on it!

Developer(+1)

thanks for playing!

I love the starting menu's color palette and design! Looks lemon-y.

The pixel art sprites were nice too. Didn't encounter any bugs.

Feels like a good prototype to build further on, some of which you already identified (e.g. addind sounds, more enemies, perhaps more types of drink even).

Also.. profit margin of $0.25 on one lemonade.. :( .. im gonna have to sell until im 300 years old to retire.

Developer (1 edit)

Sorry but you must work harder, thanks for playing.

Good job finishing your first Godot game.

I liked your pixel art. Everyone is so happy with their lemonade! Haha. The colour scheme is really appealing too.

Submitted(+1)

Exciting concept. Reminds me of the Root Beer Tapper game. It was challenging but also fun.

Submitted(+1)

there is a lot I like here.
first of all: big soda drinker here - the story totally speaks to me and is wonderfully over-the-top.
secondly: the blue-yellow-color scheme is *chef's kisses*
thirdly: I really like how the lanes, the slow moving lemonades and the same-looking dudes create something of a visual challenge for you to solve. I could easy imagine later stages where the lanes will cross in some M.C.-Escher-style impossible maze that makes it even harder to keep track of.
competent start!

Developer

thanks for playing it kindman!

Developer

you’ve really got me thinking with that “M.C.-Escher-style impossible maze” comment

Wow there is a story! loved it. Simple but addictive gameplay. had fun during every moment of it. Great Job! Well Done!

Developer

thanks for playing it!

Great work!

Loved the back story and art, the gameplay was simple but effective.

As you probably know, some more customers and sound/music would have made this entry really pop.

Enjoyable game none-the-less, and gave me ideas about making something similar in the future.

Developer

Unfortunately I ran out of time for audio and more customers, the code is there, I just need to record something :)

there are also some background layers set up for a more dynamic background.

thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Good background story :) game loop reminded of the old game Tapper, graphics were cool like SouthPark - what's not to like :D As you know the spawn rates seem stuck on the first level which is a pity. Well done.

Developer

spawns should be faster, also they should increase as the game progresses, I don’t mind tweaking the rate but I don’t want to add the spawn increase while we are in the rating phase of the Jam.

thanks for playing

Very nice game! I love the idea that lemonade is illegal, and your lemonade speakeasy's only customers are balding, middle aged men in suits.

Would love to see this fleshed out a bit more, I can see it making a very addictive game. I would also like the customers to start spawning a bit faster as I was waiting for a pretty long amount of time before my first customer appeared on screen. Apart from that though I have no complaints, well done!

Developer

I think I missed up the spawn rates while I was fixing other things yesterday, there is a small fix for the z sorting coming later tonight, I’ll adjust the spawn rates then :) thanks for playing

Submitted(+1)

Sounds good, I'll definitely check it out again once it has been patched! It may be worth waiting for a few days though as the jam rules are that only game breaking bugs are allowed be fixed, and I'd hate to see your entry get disqualified for fixing something that could wait for a few days.

I like the base concept being presented and the associated story! Especially for your first Godot Game.

It would have been great though to sometimes have a cop on one of the lines so you have to stop serving till he walks to the end and leaves. This could be combined with a reputation score for your in plain sight last lemonade shop where unserved customers due to cops or rising difficulty could lower the reputation and in turn make more customers snitch to the authority increasing cop visits etc.

Great idea keep at it!

Developer

I agree, that would have been cool!

There is a penalty for serving lemonade to an empty lane and also for the customers that don’t get served, but i couldn’t get it working properly, so the game over screen doesn’t show. There should have been more customers as well, it’s a bit dull with just the business men coming all the time, I’ll do a small update when voting closes. I’ll also look into the cops idea, perhaps some kind of raid.
