This game is about clearing space on a computer after becoming a Unity developer! My 1tb hard drive stays full thanks to Unity, and this is my tribute to the space on my PC it feels like I will never get back :D

Cool game with a funny ending! I wish that the player was locked to grid movement, though, since i found myself overlapping multiple tiles and getting hit by spikes or lava a lot.

Developer (1 edit)

I could have definitely made the colliders better so you didn't have to be grid locked. But gridlocking is not a bad idea at all 🤔

Thank you for the feedback!

I played your game and i liked it.  The game has a nice palette and good pixel art. Moreover, i liked the idea and plot of your game.  I wish you good luck in the future !

Developer

we plan on continuing the game with a more serious plot. Stay tuned for some updates ;D

Submitted(+2)

Well the art style is nice but you completely obliterated the rule about resolution. Especially in the case of UI elements.

Developer(+1)

well, I tried 🤷‍♂️

Submitted(+1)

The graphics are great!

Developer

Thanks! The artist working with me is a beast :D

Submitted(+1)

art looks super crisp

Developer

Thanks, I couldn't be happier with how it looks :D

Submitted(+1)

well executed, fun game. couldn't get to the end though.

Developer

the difficulty was conflicting with this one. Sorry you couldn't get through it, but I'm thrilled to hear it was fun :D

Submitted(+1)

Really fits the GB style, good job

Developer

thanks! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it :)

The art is out of this world (pun intended!)

Developer

indeed, my partner is out of this world! I'm so proud of all the great things he made, and honored to work with him :D

Ah how unfurtunately relatable. Of course, if you were really trying to make an accurate Unity game you would change the rules halfway through without telling the player xD.

Great stuff and looks fantastic, had a lot of fun.

Developer(+2)

haha we had that same thought, but we thought it would be bad for business 0:)

Submitted(+1)

The hitboxes of some obstacles are completely wrong, like the lava where you can touch it when you are just right next to them.

Plus there was one turret that literally barbecued my ears

Developer

sorry for not including in the game somewhere, you can hit the enter key and adjust the sfx and music sounds.

Yeah, the lava hit boxes were based off of a tilemap which has this limitation, but it was needed to make this game happen. Appreciate the feedback :)

Has some reference from developing with Unity Engine. It would be comical if the game itself was not made with Unity!

Developer

I thought that the irony of that was well suited to the vision. I hope I could steal a chuckle or two from you! :)

Submitted(+1)

very polished game. I love the graphics

Developer

Thank you so much! We put a lot of effort in trying to polish this game. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Fighting mechanics were awesome! Everything felt really smooth with the main character. I did encounter some of the issues people were mentioning, but it wouldn't be a game jam game without some quirks.

Developer

haha, glad you see the beauty in jam quirks as well. Thank you for playing our game and your support <3

Had two issues with this game:
* I somehow teleported thru the lasers on my first run and won the game in 10 seconds
* Sometimes upon changing zones, I collided with an enemy on the other side, which just felt lame
Other than that, fluid and fun controls. Basic, but well implemented enemies; Great music and art!

Developer(+1)

You found a secret cheat code xD (seriously, i have no idea how that would have happened lol)

I totally get what you mean about the enemies. I tried to keep them away from the doors, but I did feel a couple of rooms had that issue. Thank you for playing our game :D <3

Submitted(+2)

Visuals and sounds are great! My only issue was with certain collisions dealing damage more than once, like lava and spikes

Developer

Hey, thanks! glad you liked it :)

I noticed some of the things damaging twice too, I think I should have raised the "invincibilityTimer" a bit. Thanks for the feed back :)

Graphics and music are nice, and created zelda vibes really good but...

it's not a fun game... and you also broke the rule of resolution! (the boss sprite uses sub pixels)

Best wishes to you and i hope you move to a better game engine!

Developer(+1)

The boss was created and added within the last hour for the lols. Totally burned out by that point, but hey, I'm glad he got in there xD

As far as the fun goes, what do you think could be improved on?

Submitted(+1)

you've implemented a good set of mechanics for fighting but i didn't even needed to use them! more engaging enemies would make it better. And also in these dungeon levels, i like to see some kind of puzzle or more lock and key quests.

And i'm sure you did the best you could! ;)

Developer

Totally! We plan on continuing with this game. We have a bunch of assets for puzzles using the dog. We just didn't get to implement them in time. Appreciate the feedback on our enemies. I will find a way to make them more engaging :)

Submitted

i'm happy i could help!

and also i'd like to hear your thoughts about my game!

Developer(+1)

I will definitely be playing your game! Keep an eye out for me in your submission's comments :D <3

Jam hosts shouldn't damage the game's rating alot. It managed to hit a popular spot and also misbehavior was unintentional (I suppose).

Submitted(+1)

Like the game idea, but it locked up when I got the last cube after showing the door opened at the beginning. Nice sprite work, but poor implementation of game boy limitations.

Developer

That stinks lol. I can't reproduce the game locking up. I know it probably had something to do with the cutscene on the last cube, but I would be interested in finding out how that happened. Do you mind sharing your pc specs/the browser you ran it on? thanks :)

Submitted(+1)

Sure, it was my macbook pro M2, running on safari. I wondered if it might have to do with which one I got last? Not sure how best to describe it but it was north through lava areas.

Developer

the dog has dynamic pathfinding, and the cut scene unintentionally moves the dog across the map on that cut scene. Whenever you pick one up that puts a dog in a spot where he can't reach the player, it causes a stack overflow 🙈

Submitted(+1)

Glad you found the problem! I hope you continue with the game, it's a fun idea.

Developer(+1)

We are totally continuing the game! I am fixing that bug as we speak :) We have some really cool ideas in store. Thanks for the help finding that bug, and I hope to see you around some more :)

Submitted(+1)

Extremely funny and timely concept(the game is also solid)

Developer

Thanks :D I hope you enjoyed it. We plan on making a full version of the game (We may raise the resolution a bit, though ;D)

Submitted(+2)

very meta haha

Developer

glad you think so too xD

Submitted(+2)

Really good game. One of the best in this jam I think

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the kind words :D I am really glad you enjoyed it! My friend and I worked really hard on it. We are going to keep going with this game, but might raise the resolution a bit. We also might change up a bit of mechanics that were outside the scope of a game boy game :) Thank you so much for playing our game :D
