Great work! Lot of effort here. Very good graphics and interesting story.
I don't like too much respawning enemies you have just killed...
Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you tried it and liked it!
The enemies respawn because I wanted to create a little bit of tension in the house. I realize it's not really an action game. I was hoping they'd be easy enough to avoid...
Ok, I gotta say. As much as I am not one that likes to read a lot of text in games I laughed a lot at some of the dialog. The one that has me writing here is the one about the old man staring back at me when I look in the mirror. LOL
The graphics are spot on and feels and sounds and plays so much like a Gameboy game. Great job!
All the sprites were very well done and the color scheme is like mine with the OG colors. :D
Thanks so much for trying it out, I'm glad you enjoyed!
I knew that cranking out a novel wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but that's where my inspiration took me this time. :)
Well it had me longer than most text games would. It was just enough game play to keep me going.
I generally dont care too much about storytelling in games in general, I am more of a "gameplay feeling" guy. But I LOVE when I care about the story of a game. In a game entirely based on that, this is essential! Really nice work!
(Also: I shouldnt leave the house, right?)
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed!
(Don't leave until you have no other choice. :) )
A very nice story. You worked it pretty good. It felt like an interactive narration :-)
Thanks so much!
Abolutely great storytelling. This is more a story than a game, but its so immersive and you get more and more curious to know whats happening! It really creates a necessity to have a narrative category!
With the quantitiy of options you have in the dialogues, I feel the game could have alternate endings! You could add points to different variables with each option! Like, they could take him in the end, forgive him, he could been arrest or exposed in the media, etc!
Cool story bro!
Thanks for all your kind words!
I think that multiple endings is a great suggestion for this project. Of course, time was in short supply. I do have some post-jam updates planned, but not sure I'll be making changes that big. I'll think it over.
Fantastic!
Thanks so much!
Congrats on your submission! It was a little dark, but good story overall. I was hesitant towards the end when I had the suit since I had already made the mistake of gaming over early on. I double checked everything to make sure I had no other choice. I thought the "No Option" options were pretty funny. Well done!
Ha. I used the "no option" options when I wanted to make the player speak, but didn't want to branch the narrative. I couldn't configure a dialog menu to have only 1 option, sooo.. :)
Anyway, thanks so much for checking it out, and glad you enjoyed!
gorgeous game, pretty chill and relaxing to play
Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from the Mystic Summon team.
I really enjoyed playing this. Good dialogue and great sprite work.
Thank you so much!
Great game! Almost every thing was interactable and the story was well thought out. The sprite work is very good and diverse.
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Well done. Lots of detail with everything you can interact with. I also like the context of the retired pilot looking back on his life and being haunted by his past. Great entry.
Thank you for playing! Appreciate your kind words. :)
Wow, well-written! Loved all the details in the house, and some really nice sprite work!
So glad you enjoyed! Thank you.
Very high score. The only thing that was not completely harnessed, in my opinion, is the secondary theme, which has only been taken as in outer-space and not also as any other interpretation of the space, like volumen, surface, capacity, scale...
Thank you so much!
looks well made, gave it a high rating. I don't enjoy text games though.
Thank you for checking it out!
This is a neat entry. Lots of reading but if you are in the mood for this kind of thing it's top notch. Fantastic job with the narrative and the scene compositions were very cinematic and immersive for a gameboy game. Well done!
Thanks so much for sticking with it, I'm glad you enjoyed!
I did not expect to enjoy a story-driven game made for a short jam - these are usually terribly boring. That one was quite cool! It really REALLY needs some music though. Felt a bit lifeless without it...
Great work, amazing game - looks like a lot of work went into it :)
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I put a lot of effort into it. :)
In prior projects, I usually used royalty-free music composed by others. Here, since the rules require all assets be made during the jam, I thought I would put something together myself, but it isn't really my forte. I was able to create something for the main menu, but all the pieces I tried to put together for the main game ended up being too distracting for such a text-heavy experience. I will keep picking at it and hopefully will be able to upload a new version with some gameplay music after the jam.
Yeah I understand. Music was the hardest part for me as well. What I did is I picked a random nursery rhyme as a base for the melody (twinkle twinkle little star...) and then tried moving notes around and playing with it a bit. It's much easier if you have a starting point!
That's... kind of brilliant. I'll try to do something like that next time. :)
It is well made and has good art, but the text and dialogue is long, and I lost interest.
Thanks for checking it out!
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but that's where my inspiration led me this time.
I played it around for a bit and talked to some people. Seems pretty good, especially for a jam, but I wish it had a bit more direction on what to do and where to go.
I really like all the graphics, and the sounds matched them perfectly! I think this is a pretty cool entry :)
Thank you for checking it out, and thanks for your kind words!
Earlier in development, I locked the environment down more. Later, I opened it up a bit, giving the player a chance to explore more freely.
It's definitely better having it more open, but I'm still tired from the jam and could've used some more direction for my fried brain to process what I was supposed to be doing :D
Ooof. Right in the feels. Glad I played this. Well, maybe not "glad".
Dagger what have you done?Superb writing; this game has a contained story with hints of a bigger world.
Great jam game!
Thanks so much for trying it out! Happy you enjoyed. :)
If you like the lore of this feudal sci-fi universe, I've made a few other games in the same setting:
https://fallingwallgames.itch.io/the-derelict-orpheus-post-jam-edition (very short)
https://fallingwallgames.itch.io/the-gnawing-hunger (about an hour and a half)
The story seems interesting and the graphics are nice, but it was a lot more reading than I was expecting. Based on the screenshots, seems like there was a lot more to the game. I think a smaller first map and a bit more focused dialogue would have kept me invested. Overall, great work and intriguing world building for a gb jam game!
Thanks so much for checking it out! It is a bit of a novel, I agree. :) That's where my inspiration took me. :)
