I LOVE the fact that your bat swing is both a melee and the launcher for your projectile baseball. It's really satisfying when you get the right perfect hit off, even if it's a little tricky to do while you're running away from robots. But great fun! Nicely done
I dont think that the game fit well the theme it could have been a little bit more unstable
but the graphics and the gameplay are cool.
Yeah, sadly the theme fell a bit short for us. We were more focused on the gameplay. We wanted to visualize the imminent explosion more, but unfortunately, we ran out of time. I hope you still had fun!
yes still was pretty fun and professional probably if this is the quality your team is going for, you could even do a commercial game.
One of the better ones I've played so far, very reactive gameplay that has tons of feedback for everything you do. Great work!
Addictive game ! :D
I love the art style !
With some weapon upgrades, that would make it an epic game ! :o
Great job !
I love the amazing pixel art style, and the game is so fun I can play it for hours.
Amazing art, loved the dual purpose mechanic of the bat, didn't quite get where the theme landed in but am still shocked by how fun this was, very polished.
Glad you liked it! So, the main idea for the theme was to put the player in the situation of escaping from an unstable nuclear reactor on the verge of exploding. We wanted to show this more visually, but we ran out of time to do it like we imagined it.
Oh that makes so much sense, thanks for replying to me.
Art is really good and the game is responsive. well done!
Nice to look at, have you done the pixel art by your self? Good job.
Thanks! Yes, all the art was created by us. While we did reuse some assets from one of our unreleased prototypes, round around 60% of the sprites are new, modified or freshly animated to fit this game's aesthetic.
Pixel art is great and feels good to play. Great job
A captivating game with a well-thought-out design with lovely and consistent art direction. It’s clear a lot of effort went into creating this.
brooo what a game. really loved your pixel art
Great game. I did have a bug at the start where controls wouldn't work I reloaded a couple of times and it finally worked. How did you build the levels? Did you use a software?
Thanks alot, friend ^^
Never nice to hear that controls are not working, but I'm glad it got to run on your browser! We really tried to make it as polished as time could offer, haha.
Actually making levels in Gdevelop is quite tricky I found. So I actually did have to use a third party software called Ldtk to make the rooms. Initializing the collision was simply draging some sprites over the tileset :D
How did you do it in your game? Is it all hand-placed in the engine?
No worries re the control issue. Had it before a few refreshes usually fixes it. just wanted to let other players know.
Yes the tiling feature of gdevelop is probably the thing holding it from being a real game engine. I was hoping they would have fixed that before going 3d. Godot and unity have an awesome feature. I am sure it will come soon enough.
I wanted to make a good Metroidvania but was looking for a good tileset/tiling software, so could scale it. I like LDTK, especially their auto tile feature. But like you said still have to manually add barriers. I managed to get through Tiled's tutorial and get their software to work and the collision map. But after spending way too long on figuring out their autotiling feature I couldn't get it to work with the collision map. Still a work in progress.
Yes this one was just done by hand. Faster for me to do it that way.
Wow you did a great job I could see this as a paid game with a little more polish. Had a good feel and everything worked as I imagined.
I honestly thought this was a super solid game that was a lot of fun to play. These are the kinds of game that I think are really successful in jams because they have solid loops, engaging gameplay, and fun art/music. You managed to do all of that, so you should really be proud of yourself. I really enjoyed my time with this entry. Great work!
Fun game very high energy me likey
Here is your 10/10 rating my humble friend. You are a real contender for my game don’t sell yourself short.
Incredible! I love the feel of the combat and the baseball mechanic. Really flippin tough though and maybe I'm bad but the roll doesn't seem to have i-frames. You can tell me if I'm just bad I can take it. Is there a boss at the end of this game? I'll try again if there is.
Hi there ^^
Thanks for the compliment! Its true that the roll doesn't have invincibility frames, and for one the time restriction is the cause for this. But yer know, since it does add that certain extra speed it does come in handy :D
The game is best to be played if all the available combat options are being used cleverly. There's 3 rooms in the game which you gotta battle enemies in. There ain't a boss, but each room has new enemies, which might not be enough to go through it again, but feeling the gameplay and soundtrack is enough to get myself back to it, haha (not to be proud here)
Glad you liked it :D
Imma check out yours aswell
Yeah it's that third room that always gets me lol. I'll def try again!
Perfect pixel art. It has been sometime since I played such a fun game. I love the physics of the ball it helps alot. Only critique I can give is maybe put a how to play on the start menu. When I first played it I didn’t know there was an option to hit a ball around the play area. Minor thing but 10/10 for this game. Would love to see more.
I humbly thank you for the compliment. But seeing your game, I stand no chance, haha
Lovely pixel art also to you! Your game is smooth as butter, and even butter is not as smooth as you game ^^
We actually wanted to have a little tutorial sprite as the beginning, which technically also was sprited, but yer know, the time played us. We did a rather tight release, which I'm super glad it worked out for.
Oooof my pixel art was rushed out not my best work. This isn’t even as smooth as yours. But thanks man. Hopefully we can Collab one day and we can be unstoppable ;D
Very great graphics and music. The cars are a little wonky where you can teleport out of the map or teleport randomly when being close to them where I had to refresh the page, and enemies can be o ntop of each other instead of side by side. Like the other person said it needs checkpoints too. Outside of that it's a really good game and I hope you make more.
Yes, we are aware of a few bugs already, including the one with the cars. We also realize that the game is quite hard to beat in one run, as we intended. Therefore, checkpoints could be useful. Thank you so much for your feedback!
Such a fun game! My only complaint is the lack of checkpoints. It was rather frustrating being forced to start from the beginning every time I died.
Thank you so much for the feedback. We will definitly consider that after the rating phase :)
