I like it! Nice atmosphere with huge walls and color choice. Sounds kinda did hurt my ears a bit, but with a bit of volume down it was a good game to sit through. Nice job!

This was really interesting. I liked the story elements and the atmosphere you created using audio and the height of the walls.

Fun game well done, the music was a bit too loud but that was just my personal taste so good job!!!

I really like how the theme was used on leaving something behind to escape a maze (though this can be accomplished even without leaving anything hahaahah). The music is so creepy making it more of a horror game. I wonder if this is the direction you are trying to do but still this is a great game. Would love to see something following you behind or somewhere in the maze making it even more intense. Looks like this game is so open for more possibilities and I'm keen to see that. Good job!

Developer

Haha I know, I scaled down the size of the maze (and cropped the dynamic maze concept) because wanted people to actually finish the game :D I definitely wanted some tension, however I didn't plan to make it as horror (if you felt like it, its great, it is one of the hardest genre to make!). The black block supposed to symbolise something like the dark half in Celeste (if you played the game you probably would remember :) ). Thank you for your feedback!

This one was pretty interesting. It's always nice to see a blend of simple gameplay connected with a deeper story. I menaged to beat it by going with the classic maze strat of hugging the right wall and it worked out quite well.

I like the hand drawn UI/Tutorials, really adds this extra flavor that a basic font coudn't provide. The whole game had this nice atmosphere of eeriness, i don't know if it's just me, but the walls seemed to move a little, and the black objects that definitely moved added this bit of sense of danger to the mix. Also, for somehow Steam that was just running in the background detected this as VR for some reason(?) Though it's likely just Steam being weird, happened some times before.

Overall, a climatic submission.

Developer

Thank you! The walls in some places do "shake" due to being me connecting and scaling them carelessly, but in the end I liked the effect and didn't correct them, so it was left in the game on purpose! The VR part was definitely not intended though, so that was just Steam being Steam! :D
Thank you so much for your feedback!

I loved the atmosphere on this one ! For a solo entry this is quite impressive, but i feel like the help of 3D artist and sound/music designers could only bring more light on your concept.
I loved the 2D art too, you really took advantage of simples shapes and hand drawing to create something interesting.

Developer

Yes I think next time I will include at least one artist, my basic modelling/art skills would have set me back for days this time :D

Really great atmosphere when playing this game, I ended up not using the bread crumb mechanic apart from twice before I entered the maze accidently ^^'

This was a really nice experience, and I enjoyed the 2D art you put in, the hand drawn art really made a great touch :D

Developer

haha! well there was a limited time that you could use the breadcrumbs anyway before you perish away!! I did not want to have a much bigger maze (due to the fact that this is a gamejam, also without filling it with content, it would have been just annoyingly bare), but i've left the feature in for people with lesser navigation skills! Also it is part of the narrative :) Thank you for your feedback!

I like the set up here. Lots of nice touches. The hand drawn elements I really liked and the simple modelling was fitting. The sence of doom was high but at the same time it was quite chill. I got very very lost but in a nice way. Good work.

Developer

That is exactly what I kind of wanted to convey, thank you for the feeback and playing/enjoying the game! :)

I enjoyed playing your game. I liked the theme of the game with the scribblings on the wall and the staticy characters. I think if you increase the player speed the game would be a lot more enjoyable. Another thing to add would be I went to check if there was a pause menu to look at the controls and it took me back to the main menu and made me restart. On a final note I do really like your mechanic where you drop a part of your character as a breadcrumb it works really well and I found it very visually cool to look at. This is a good game that I enjoyed playing

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! In the polished version I am adding a little speed boost when the player enters the maze, it seemed to be a returning annoyance for everyone! :D Also thank you for mentioning the self-dropping mechanic as a breadcrumb, I worked on that little feature a lot and personally really like it(can't say im great at programming, so it was a bit challenging :D).

I really struggled finding those altars and slicing myself didn't help so i ended up using the left hand rule. I liked the concept but i think it'd be nice to increase the move speed or have sprint

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! The movement speed definitely seems like a returning problem, I suppose changing it would be within the polishing rules so may gonna have a look into it today!

Concept is really cool, very solid choice for the audio. I wish the jump was more powerful i got stuck at the start for a little while trying to jump off the vertical floating platform then it just kept going without letting me get on it aha. Overall, very good game, good job!

This will likely be something really good when there is more added to it. The music was very unsettling and the concept was interesting. This is really cool I can't wait to see more great job.

I agree with the other comments, really thought-provoking and made me feel quite unsettled in general while playing! I think a good choice of audio and the environment of the game helped to create that feeling for me. Speaking to the other characters definitely added flavour to the experience and the mechanic of leaving bits of yourself behind as a breadcrumb trail was spot on for the theme. Great work :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I can do most areas but to compose or design sounds are an absolute blind area for me. Then browsed some and found these static/spooky sounds and it affected a lot how the design evolved from there! Also it fit with the basic gray/black/white look of the game which I tried to embrace due to the lack of proper artists in my solo team :D

What I like about this game is its thought-provoking narrative! Great game concept and well executed, especially considering that it's a solo project! That really deserves some extra credit in my opinion. The 3D models are mostly placeholder elements which is understandable considering the time limit and it still makes the game playable. It is cool that you managed to make a castle with just the placeholders! The 2D art in the game is very cool: the quick sketchy style really adds to the message that the game is trying to convey. Well done!

An interesting game xD I certainly liked where you were going with this game. I can tell you ended up a little short on time, with the level being mostly dev textures and the fact you can just walk around the side of the castle and see the floating shapes, as well as from a hole in the wall when you walk through the game on your left. I did spend like 5 mins trying to jump into that gap as it looked like I could reach it, only to find I couldn't. There was some great 2D & UI art in this, though the options menu kinda took me out of it with the visuble button over the art that I could clearly see. The art style is cool though I liked where it was going. Gameplay wise it is nice and simple to follow, though having to repeat huge sections at the speed the player moves did make we want to quit, so you may want to work on some checkpoints to avoid such a frustration.

All that being said this is a solid entry for a solo participant. well done!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Sorry about the gap,  it was meant to have more role in the game, but the design took a turn and then it was just left there as to break the visual monotomy :D Playing it through so many times quite possibly made me memorise the paths and taking the shortest ones, therefore I didn't realise that the character might be frustratingly slow! Checkpoints are definitely a good idea, wonder if I could fit it with the narration!

Once again, thank you for the feedback and playing my game! :)
