Thanks to all of you who had played the game and given me great feedback :) I have made a post jam version here is the link: https://uchip2.itch.io/the-virus-attackpost-jam-version I hope you enjoy it :)
It's a cute small game. I didn't find a good representation of the game. The main problem with it is player movement, from my point of view, it should be simpler. Right now it feels not so responsive as it could have been. I reckon it's because of too low deceleration, the player shouldn't have such an inertion. Nonetheless, well done.
thanks for playing my game, I will adress these problems on the post jam version
Good effort! I don't have anything else to add when looking through the comments other than I felt like the down times between rounds were a bit too slow. Keep it up!
Thanks for everyone who has given me feedback, i'll try and make a post jam version with some fixes :)
Nice work completing the game jam. Others have given you plenty of tips to move forward and you should definitely follow up on them. It's a great way to learn.
Simple concept that is implemented in a very nice way! This is definitely a strong base to work off of and could potentially have a lot of expandability if you chose to keep working on it. Good job!
thanks for playing my game, glad you liked it :)
Nice idea and well executions. Controls take some time to get used to, but a very enjoyable experience overall!
thanks for playing my game, glad you liked it
The slippery movement made it hard to play, but cool concept!
yeah, when I was making the game I did not know how to fix the slipery movement, but now I know that I needed to use GetAxisRaw() in estead of GetAxis()...
This game Is pretty cool however there is a few things that you could add to turn this good game into a great one!
1. To fix the slippery movement I would recommend using .GetAxisRaw() instead of .GetAxis() in order to cancel your characters momentum when it stops moving.
2. Unity has a really amazing particle system and it can be used to cover up the frame where you despawn the sprites which makes the collisions look awesome.
3. As Mark Brown says, you need a consequence to your main mechanic. When would you NOT want to shoot. Maybe you could have patients trying to escape the virus and shooting them looses you lives.
1.- before I did not know the difference of GetAsxis() and GetAxisRaw(), I will look into it
2.- going to be honest... I do not know why I did not use Unity particle system
3.- 1) Wait... Mark borwn played my game... that is awsome 2) that is a pretty good Idea, I should have thought something more like that...
I have no idea if he checked out your game but I hope he did! That was just a reoccurring piece of feedback from him playing other games.
oh I see, got it, still thanks for playing my game and giving me feed back :)
character feels floaty and it's just me but I like games that incorporate the theme into the mechanics as well, maybe the virus mutates randomly each time it infects a patient or some such
With the floaty characters same as I said to others I figure out how to do it after uploading... I also had a similar Idea of mutation however I thought it will be hard to implement
no hard feelings bro, just some feedback, good job submitting a game :)
I have no problems with negative feedback and Ideas, so no worries
As someone else said, I also found the controls a little slippery. I struggled to get exactly where I wanted to get to. I liked that it had audio, but I found that when the music stopped between levels it was a little jarring? It looks like you're using Unity, I would suggest looking into "Dont Destroy On Load", which will allow you to keep a sound file playing between scenes. I also would have liked if the next level auto loaded instead of having to click it, so it didn't interrupt my flow. Otherwise, great work, I hope you continue making stuff!
with the Slipery movement I also figuer it out after uploading... Thanks for giving me tips with the audio, I will look into it
this game is pretty cool, i think that with a bit more polishing it will became an Amazing game, the only problem i found are the controls a bit too slippery, but without considering this that's a pretty cool game! Please check out my game too :D
thanks for liking my game, I also think that the game needs more polish lik eunitys particle system... With the slipery controls I should have used GexAxisRaw()... Still thanks for liking my game
Man those purple ones were hard to shoot, I couldn't seem to get the hang of hitting both when they both come at you at once
Yeah I know, I realised that when I have uploaded... Maybe in a post jam version I might try to balanced it
Very enjoyable game, however I found the controls a bit hard to use, as I ended up moving to far when trying to shoot some things.
Yeah, I noiticed that too while making the game, I should have added some kind of stoping force... Still thanks for playing my game
GG for the game !
thanks for playing my game, good luck with yours!
Simple concept with a reasonable execution. Not too shabby for a first game jam. The web player's size defaulted to too small to see the entirety of the game - I had to go fullscreen.
The movement of the player felt a bit awkward, it overshot a lot since you kept moving for quite a bit after you stopped pressing the button. I also got a victory screen when there was still 1 enemy remaining. The gameplay also wasn't particularly unique or inspiring.
Still, well done for a first jam, it isn't easy to make something from scratch!
I see, I have already fixed the resolution... Also with the victory screen, I had it set to a timer as I could not figuer out how to do it ... with the player, I should add some kind of stoping force, still thanks for playing my game and giving me feed back
A cool space invaders like game! It was very fun to try and shoot the viruses. The sound and art was cool too. Congrats on successfully submitting a game to the jam and I hope you learned a lot of new gamedev skills. Please check out my game when you have free time :D
thanks so much for playing my game, this was my first ever game jam... I'm glad you liked it
I like the sound effects and music. Great job!
If you have time I'd love for you to check out my game!
thanks for playing my game. I'll check your Game
Nice game, with bright colors and sounds. The menu is very appreciated and I like the idea of having several levels instead of one long survival level. Good job!
thanks for playing my game, I am glad you liked it!
