Simple and fun game! I can see how this could be pretty addicting.
The aesthetic of the game is on-point, and I appreciated having a variety of blocks to work with.
My one critique is that whenever the character starts falling behind, it felt like there was no real way (at least from my playthroughs) to catch back up. It would be nice to have a way to recover from mistakes.
Overall, I enjoyed playing, nice work!
Thank you very much for your kind words and feedback! We are aware of that issue and are currently discussing wether we should let BOB catch up when he is behind and slow down when he is ahead or not.
Originally it was planned (and it is still possible) to push bob by placing blocks directly behind or in front of him.
Polish is great, and the concept is cool.
Awesome polish in this time! Great concept!
Really cool, reminds me of some early facebook games i used to play a long time ago lol. While the mechanic can be a bit repetitive, your implementation keeps the player engaged and doing the same thing over and over again doesn't feel boring at all. There's a nice variety of blocks and it's easy to learn their behaviours. nice experience :)
I really like the visuals of the game. The concept is simple but I think it has a lot of potential. I think it could be improved by teaching the player what certain blocks did. When I hit the plunger for the first time and immediately died, it wasn't a great feeling. Still, on my subsequent playthroughs I got further and had a good time. Nice job!
Pretty simple game. I liked the visuals a lot, but had some issues with dragging things to the right place as quickly as I wanted/needed, but variations in player skill is hard to balance for, a bit more grace period on disconnected blocks and such might help with that.
Overall pretty enjoyable.
The art style is lovely. The gameplay mechanics were okay but the block generation felt too random. I mean sometimes I was overwhelmed by blocks and I had to put them behind Bob but sometimes there were so few, I couldn’t do anything to keep Bob up.
Fun and simple, though gameplay and music can get repetitive. A "climbing" sort of axis shift may be interesting for example. Good submission
fun idea, though it does start to get a little repetative, maybe the ability to increase bobs speed would help, or jump pads or other stuff like that could maybe spice up game play a little. audio mixing was great! one the very few games I've played that didn't blast my eardrums at full volume, and even if it did, you had mute buttons so points for that. overall a nice idea and good execution, Good Job!
Awesome game! Very impressive for a first game jam submission! The art was great, the game was challenging enough to keep me intrigued but not too challenging to drive me away, great work!
Really fun puzzle game! deceptively simple at first, but the interactions with the different block types, and learning that I could re-use blocks I had passed over really broadened the gameplay options. High Score of 14793! :D I did find the music loop repetitive after a while, but otherwise very nice game!
Really cool game! Great job finishing your first game jam as a team, I love the art and mechanics! The game is a bit hard, but other than that this game is really awesome!
Fun little game. It was a little bit hard to understand the mechanics in the beginning, but one you figure out how the gameplay works it was pretty fun. The untold strategies of placing a block on the player to move them one block upwards was a neat discovery.
One suggestion though, if you use blocks to push the player forwards enough so you go beyond the screen’s right side the game ends. In my opinion it should not end there.
Cute game overall!
Thank you very much for your kind words! We will consider your feedback and may think of a possible way to prevent the player from falling out of the very right edge instead of ending the game!
Loved this game thought it as a good challenge to master the speed of the guy to how fast you have to deal with all the connected pieces coming in and going out if there isn't anything in front, awesome game and really impressive for 48 hours!
This was a very well-made and cool game! I hope you keep working on it post-jam!
Very nice game, well polished and original concept!
fun idea. can get really manic.
Awesome game, really clever, and I love the bounciness effect you added. Great job!
I'll be honest: I feel like I don't get the game. I really struggled to to do anything I really felt was "successful" in this game. I had some issues that I'm not sure I understand. The GIF in the description shows the character rolling up on the floating platform, but I couldn't figure out how to replicate that myself. Pretty much I found I couldn't use the floating blocks or the detonator buttons without something going wrong. (With the detonator, I suspect it's an interaction with the disappearing blocks bug). I also felt like the blocks grid was more restrictive than it needed to be. It would have been nice to be able to place blocks more across the game space and not just in a three-block range. I think the game idea is neat, but I just couldn't get into it.
Thank you for your honest feedback! After all we won't be able to improve anything without that! As far as i see it it's an issue that was already adressed a few times in the comments and will be adressed once the GMTK GameJam 2021 ends. We want to change it so that blocks will slowly be introduced into the game. The player will then be able to slowly adapt to the new blocks at each milestone.
The character (a.k.a. BOB) can only roll onto the flying platforms when they are at their lowest (as they hover a bit up and down). BOB can also be pushed a bit by placing blocks direct behind or in front of him.
The disappearing blocks are destroyed by the TNT which explodes when any of the currently visible buttons are triggered (there is no animation and no audio as described in the known issues panel). We are also considering changing this functionality to require a minimum distance to the button.
We hope you still enjoyed our game a bit and will give us a chance to improve it!
well made game !
