I love the art and concept, and the execution in general is great. One thing I found mildly annoying was that some parts of the game seems a bit slow, like when a new customer is arriving. I also think the skewing and rotating mechanics, while absolutely amazing and so cool, are kind of unnecessary with the current game. I think it would be better if you either had the shape already outlined and you have to set the skew+rotation or vice-versa, as this would make it more interesting. You could even add multiple planes that you have to skew individually to create a composite shape. I understand these may not be features you are willing to add as it does change the game fell quite a lot, and this is already a super impressive game, especially for 4 days.

I agree with the customer arrival time, I just eyeballed it 😅. I don’t necessarily agree with the other ideas though I do get where you’re coming from. My whole aim for this game was to demonstrate the mathematical fact that 2D transformation do not commute! So I wanted to let the puzzles leverage that. I do think that a shape outline would’ve been much better though.

Okay, first of all. This is totally not my kind of game, but HOLY. I just couldn't stop playing. I always wanted to see what shape was going to be next and how high my percentage was going to be this time. I think that already speaks for itself.

I also have absolutely no idea how you would even start programming something like this, so huge respect!

That being said, Absolutely brilliant take on the theme and a really unique idea.

Very unique idea! Quite hard at the beginning but i got a hang of it and it was satisfying experience (sfx really added to that atmosphere)

I would definitely suggest having some kind of grid on that cutout shape itself. Event thought i think I have pretty good eye for recreating shapes like this, it was a bit hard. That grid would server as reference points which would make a bit better experience when recreating it. Also, some step by step rotation/skewing would help a bit too, since it would limit possible solutions without overwhelming new players. 
These are just suggestion if you decide to continue.  So don't take it as critique :D

Overall, I really enjoyed it. I feel like it could become a really nice game in the future!

I wholeheartedly welcome such feedback! I completely agree with both your points. I initially intended for it to be a more thoughtful puzzle-like but ran out of time and had to cut corners. An age old jam tale :P Will definitely keep these points in mind if I expand upon.

Very fun game. The skewing system did seem to break when i messed around with it too much, because the grid ended up becoming super huge and I had to reset. I also kind of wish you could get your shapes to fit 100% accurately. Good work though.

Yeah 😅 the only reason I placed limits on the skew was to avoid situations like that, but then I realized shortly after that if I allowed continuous rotations as well, there was no way to prevent this.

I love the animations and SFX in this game! I think it took me a hot minute to get into and the controls / gameplay feel a little tougher than is great for a jam game, but it's a fairly original concept and design, which I'm sure made proper balancing a little hard without a lot of time to playtest. Super impressive you made this game mostly solo — great work overall!

You do get thrown into the deep end of the game for sure. I was thinking on making an interactive tutorial that slowly introduced the controls, but it was too ambitious since I started quite late too.

This is a really tough game! I think it would be better if the game started off with simpler shapes at first, then ramp up difficulty from there. Other than that, great work.

Honestly, I think something that'd really help is having skew and rotation snap to discrete steps the way the grid does - that way, it'd be easier to play with things and reverse engineer how a shape was created. Maybe also a popup for the target shape's transformation matrix as well as your current transformation matrix? That being said, I adore the sound design, presentation, etc. - this is REALLY good.

Solid suggestions! The main issue is that I ran out of time to make sure the holes were actually achievable with the grid, so I ended up generating them randomly and hoping that leaving the transformations to be continuous would even it out somewhat. You do make a good point though, that would definitely turn it into a more intricate puzzle. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts!

Displaying the transformation matrix is also a spot on suggestion. I really wanted to, because initially my goal for this jam was to toy around with a somewhat ‘educational’ game. But then I leaned away from it a bit because I was concerned people would brush it away seeing that its very complicated in some way. Its certainly something I want to play around with in the future..

Took me a while to realise the shapes weren’t 100% achievable, so I spent way too long retrying the levels haha. Cool concept for definite, shame you didn’t have more time to implement the ability to create the gaps yourself, would have liked to see where that would take the puzzle aspect. Charming and interesting game, nice job :)

This is my only regret with this project. The whole idea was implemented specifically for hand crafted puzzles but then I had to rush at the end and cut corners.

Really fun game. I like the little sound effects and expressions the block makes. The scoring felt weird to me and some shapes were really hard for me to draw. I could not eye ball the shapes properly.

Fair points! I left the scoring system a bit on the lenient side since it was a jam game. The shapes are generated at random, so getting a perfect match is likely very hard, but I have found it’s generally possible to get ~85% or so. Thanks for playing!

I fear I am not smart enough for this game hahah. But I love the idea of it! I could not manage to get a shape / completion for the life of me. But I will say, the sound effects and the intro animation were really lovely. All in all, great work! I plan to try this again in a few days when I've got some more spoons :)

I think that the way this ended up, you can actually get an intuitive feel on how to manipulate the grid and ace the shapes with that. The key point to realize is that changing the order of operations will result in different results (a general mathematical property of 2D transformations!), and you can abuse this fact to make wild shapes.

This game is SO GOOD.
However due to being on mac, I couldn't really use 'alt' key to rotate... since there's no 'alt' key on a macbook...

Even though I had to improvise, this game was still really good!

Man this game was so good. I initially wanted to do something math and specifically geometry related,  but in the end I went with something completely different. That being said, I have been looking through so many submissions to find something that *isnt* scaling objects/yourself up and down, and something that has to do with math and geometry. Was disappointed to not find many games like that.

And then finally I come across this game and *man* is it cool. Extremely creative, surprisingly addictive. I ended up playing and replaying it. I really hope you work more on this or something similar, because I think it would do so well on Steam.

I loved the artstyle too, but I feel like i could be better. At the moment for me it's a 3.5/5. Especially the face of the square could be worked on.

Still,  the animation and gameplay are phenomenal. Great work! You deserve way more ratings, and I really, really hope you'll get featured in the video. You really deserve it.

Firstly, I really appreciate your detailed and genuine comments. Secondly, thank you so much for the kind words! It makes me really happy that this concept is so well recieved, because I had my doubts on whether it was too “educational” to be fun at all till the very end.

I completely agree with you about the artstyle, I had to wing it in a couple of minutes with Inkscape and no prior experience XD I’m glad it was somewhat passable at the very least. I can tell you now that I genuinely did not intend the shapes to somehow look like ghosts.

I’m really glad you got a kick out of the game :’) I do think I’ve tapped into a potentially fun loop too!

Thanks! In all honesty though, I happen to come from a math heavy background so the core gameplay wasn’t too hard. I did however have to spend a sizeable amount of time playtesting to break the grid drawing system to make sure you couldn’t draw wildly invalid shapes 😅. Really glad you appreciate it!

This is SO well executed. It looks and feels fantastic. The audio was just perfect in a minimalistic way. Aaaand, seeing a smile on the local geometrist made my day.

Very hard but addictive game, love the art style!

Thanks! You might find the game a bit easier once you figure out intuitively how the scoring system works :p its somewhat easy to exploit if you know what it’s doing.
