It was hard for me to piece everything together and I sadly couldn't find the treasure, but the environment and shading are nice, the 2D art is nice, and the map idea is great to fit the theme. Congratulations!

Developer

Thanks!

Super fun environment, love the cel shader give the game a really cool feel,  amazing stuff!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for checking the game out, happy to hear you enjoyed it!

Super cute concept and a really pretty artstyle! As other people have already covered, it was a little unclear as to what the end goal was, and boy is that position rating super strict, but this was great! Amazing job!

Developer(+1)

We're glad you enjoy it. We should make these ratings a little less stringent :D

Submitted(+3)

That is an really nice entry. We loved the visuals and game feel, it looks really poloshed! Amazing job!

Developer

Thanks!

This was fun! The game feels really polished and tied together well. I think a little more guidance/story would bring it to the next level. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and feedback! We definitely wanted to add these things, but unfortunately time was running out :D

Submitted(+3)

Looks like we've got similar idea but you decided to add this 3D movement on top of it! It's a bit sad that I wasn't able to get anything at the correct position, at best I got 1 part with 1/2. This idea could easily being reused to build a complete game, it's very interesting and engaging! Good job!

Developer

Great minds think alike :D. We set the difficulty level a little too high in the last minutes of the jam so.

Very cool. I thought I got them all right and I was wondering if there was a way to win so I checked these comments and apparently there was a score? I didn't see it, maybe I got legit all of them wrong and that's why there was no score lol. Either way this was fun and unique and pleasant to look at

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thank you for the kind words!

We definitely could have done a better job at communicating the map completion mechanic, I'm seeing many comments about people not getting to the score screen.

The way it works is that when you drag all of the pieces somewhere over the outline of the island you get a prompt to mark the treasure. Even if you get all the pieces wrong you should still be able to dig for treasure. The accuracy of your map defines whether you get to dig up the famous treasure of Salty Paws or something else.

Submitted(+2)

That sounds like a really cool way to end the game, wish I got to it

Submitted(+2)

Very cute game! Loved the graphics! A fun take on the idea of searching for pirate treasure!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing the game, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Very nice idea and art style!

Maybe you could add footsteps on the ground for accessibility (people with hearing issues or playing without sound).

Developer(+2)

Thank you for the kind words!

I was actually planning to add some visual aid to counting the steps but I completely forgot about this in the heat of the jam.

Submitted(+2)

This is a really cool idea. I would have liked to have sound cues for the footsteps to help measure distance.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking out the game!

We haven't communicated this properly in the game itself but you actually get footstep sounds when holding the compass.

Submitted(+2)

Love the idea. I think the scaling is way to hard to be able to get accurate and also the rotation. Really fun idea although I wish I could compare the final map to my version

Thanks for feedback!

Submitted(+2)

came in with high expectations from the name, left feeling very judgemental of my navigation skills. great game, but i suck at it. love the cel shading!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+2)

pretty cool environments!

Developer

Thanks :D

Submitted(+2)

Wow, the game looks very beautiful. It really reminds me of Sea of Thieves when you have to find a treasure chest, only here you have to collect the map. Greate job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Submitted(+2)

The game is really great, it gives me return of the obra dinn vibes. One thing I would change is that landmarks only appear on your map once youve discovered them, like maybe the landmarks have a faint glow so you know its something to be added, and you arent walking around trying to figure out where the scribbles on your map are

Developer

Thanks for playing and your feedback!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

This was something we considered early on but ultimately decided against this, maybe it would be a good idea to actually get this in if we decide to continue working on this game.

Submitted(+2)

Ahah the game is really hard ! But the concept is really good, and the game has a unique and wonderful style ! Congrats to all the team

Developer

Thanks. We messed up a scoring a little bit and set the difficulty level a little to high just a few minutes before countdown :D

Submitted(+2)

Super cool game! I couldn't get the placement right but it was very enjoyable anyways, i would have liked to found where the real treasure is and what is it!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

We can't reveal what Salty Paws' secret treasure is just yet...

Let's give a chance for players to discover it on their own. If no one can get the score high enough (due to our mistake with scoring) we could possibly show it off or just fix the scoring after the jam is ended and let those who are interested try to find it once again!

Submitted(+2)

I completly agree with not reveling the secret, and I woud love to find it when you update the proyect, good luck!

Great-looking game, feels very polished. I could not, for the life of me, get over 26 points though.

It would have been nice to have a way to "remember" old placements so that when you like a placement, you can keep it for the next run. I got full points on the bridge, for example, but that happened only once, even though I tried to reproduce it in other rounds.

But I gave it a good couple of tries because the look and feel of the game carried a lot for me.

Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback.

I think we messed up a little with how strict the scoring is, hopefully this doesn't detract too much from enjoying the game. Glad to hear you gave it a couple of tries!

Submitted(+2)

This was super fun :) Also bonus points for pun title hahah. Great work! I don't have much negative to say about it.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Took me embarrasingly long to figure out the game wasn't just a 2d view of a map. I should have looked at the screenshots i suppose 8)

Absolutely beautiful visual style and intriguing gameplay. I don't have anything negative to say about this one.

Developer(+1)

Hahaha, I'm glad you managed to figure out how to close the map after all! Thank you for the kind words!
