Hi so since you asked ill be extremely nitpicking and going over some details I would add/change. But before that wanne let you know you made a real fun game and for the short time you had you did a really good job. For the feedback:
- Simple things like not resetting the level after failure: If I place the door in the correct place or what I think is the correct place and then just fail the shot it shouldnt reset the door imo. You have the reset button so in case I want to reset I can just press that. I would love that you could drag more of the level making it even more puzzle like, right now its place this and try to shoot correctly wich works for a few levels but I dont think youll be able to make a fully fledged game out of it. Maybe by adding new domains or smth you can switch up what you move or do. Of course a lot can be added for what manipulates the ball but ill let that up to you.
- Ofcourse some music would be fun, it was not necesarry for this entry but it does make a game come alive. Also the overall UI could be more attractive, for a gamejam it looks great but if you want to sell this youll need to attract players and you wont have the luxury of people automatically playing it like in a gamejam.
- The star system, I would maybe implement it otherwise but thats just my opinion: Instead of making it 3 stars to clear the level just count the stars someone got. Then make a level menu (for the issue you got with level 6 being to hard) and let the player pick wich level he wants or doesnt want to play. You can then use the amount of stars to lock certain new levels or lets say you need 30 stars from the total 50 available to progress to next level. This would also let you make harder levels without making the player feel like hes stuck.
- The physics felt fine so I wouldnt change much about that tho its true the bounce doesnt always represents the force I used (its very bouncy).
- For release Ill be honest at this stage I wouldt spent money on it (wich is normal since you only had 2 weeks) but for mobile go for android and for pc go for steam. Android is like 1 time 25 bucks and Steam is just the goat. You do need to pay 100 bucks upfront wich youll only get back after youve earned 1000 but steam does a lot more. It can arrange the correct prices for you so it fits certain countries economy and most of all steam keys. Steam lets you sell your game on other platforms as long as you keep it at the same price as on steam and steam wont take a cut.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask me any questions and please dont 1 star me :)
I love the minigame its real fun, the game itself works but could use some polish. The artstyle is cute and the overall gameplay loop is fun only issues I have is that a few things seem unecesary. The energy part for sleep does not do much besides refilling maybe making trees respawn or smth makes this a necesity. Also crafting being inside of the house maybe if you could place the things you create that would make sense but now the house doesnt feel like it contributes a lot.
All of these things are of course not that hard to fix and for a round 1 you did a very good job. I see you apologizing that the game is unpolished and I just want to say, be proud of what you made over 1000 people joined and only 200 managed to finish and you are one of them. Gamejam entries have a lot of bugs (even mine ) and thats okay.
Gl if i see you in the next round and otherwise gl with the rest of your journey!
Very fun parry game and I think you could really make something cool. There are some things that need work but I saw in other comments that you mostly focussed on the main mechanics (100% okay to do so btw). So some feedback on your main mechanic, the parry is nice and I love the intro. I do wish the enemies would spawn and attack faster cus sometimes you mess up and you just stare at the fucker for 10 seconds. The sound feedback is great tho
So with some work I do think this could be real fun!
Cool game! pretty hard and didnt really know what Iwas looking for but once I saw the other frog I found it. The mechanics work really well together and its a fun concept. For the herons it would be cool if there was some sort of indicator of where they are just so I could plan my next move.
I saw that they move based on where I made a sound last time maybe add some ripple in the water so its clear what spot they are attracted to.
Other than that very fun and good take on the concept!
Real fun game and also one that kept me playing, only thing Id would change is the boss timer or make it an upgrade. I get that its for the end of the game but in a gamejam a lot of people will try and move on and it would be sad people miss out on that.
Great job and curious to what youll do with it :)
Great game! Really got to look for feedback on this one. Would be nice to see what the enemies got in score making it a bit more suspensefull. Also not sure but you can click the items youve picked? If its the case maybe binding it to u button instead of clicking on it would be smoother with the other controls.
Great fun and I love the art!
Cool concept! I would recommend adding some reset button, I didn't read the tutorial (thats on me) and instantly shot my arrow getting me stuck. Also messed up on the controls a few times pressing space thinking it was jump resulting in me getting stuck. Other then that I like the idea and it could be a fun puzzle game!
Core mechanic: Team builder.
Secondary mechanic: Fight other peoples teams.
Progression: after each fight you can update your current team.
If I could develop further I would try and add more modifiers, some sort of chef system where you will be forced to cook a certain way (vegi, all meat,...) and also make this an async multiplayer.
I hope you liked the game, feel free to leave comments/feedback, it would be greatly appreciated.
small tip for a gamejam, make everything available as fast as you can. I liked the animals where you had to hold instead of clicking but they came a bit far into the levels. If youd ever join a bigger game jam a lot of people try to play as many games as possible and wont always complete it. Show off what you made :)
The concept is fun but atm I dont feel like its hard to beat, would be nice if you needed to manage your fuel a bit more and when you get close to orbit from another planet you swing around it of some sorts. I went in a straight line and made the goal with 170 days left. The concept itself is cool tho so curious what you make of it :)
