It's simple but lots of fun! My highest score was 3394!
what a fun small game ! I like the rythm game-like gameplay :)
Cute and simple! Loved it!
Interesting concept, this would make for a fun fishing minigame!
Actually like the gameplay quite a bit! I think if the difficulty scaling was higher, it would be a really nice challenge, especially since the mechanic is easy to grasp. I think some sound effects for when you correctly press the right key would go a long way. Having the camera shake was a good touch, so sound effects as well would be even better for more player feedback! Overall, really nice submission
Great game! Gameplay is really fun, could imagine spending a couple hours if it was a complete game.
The first thing I noticed is lack of any kind of music, that's the biggest thing the game is missing in my opinion.
Add different variations of fish that have unique mechanics, more sound effects, make fish react to being caught and add different locations to fish in and you get a complete game!
Hope that helps!
Best score: 1992
Thanks for playing, I appreciate the feedback. Music and sfx are always last on my todo list and the first to get cut when the time pressure is on! I'll prioritse them next time! :)
lovee pico 8 games! its a lovely and bite sized arcade experience, great job! the art style is lovely, i think if the fish was a bit more reactive (perhaps it would shake the screen while reeling in), it would've felt a bit more immersive :)
Thanks for the kind feedback! There is a little bit of screen shake when you make a mistake which you can toggle on via the start screen. I'll try and juice up the fish movement if I ever come back to this project.
Really loved the pixel art! Very enjoyable game. Keep it up!
2335! LOVE the style, so cute!
really cool game. my feedback is pretty much the same as everyone else and I'd love to see what this game could become with a bit more time
I love pico 8 games! The minimalist gameplay style is amazing!
Super pretty artwork and I solid concept, It'd be fun to get sense of the scale of the bait as you work your way up.
Great game! Gave me Fishing Derby on the Atari vibes :)
1173 :p
Genuinely a fun idea! I would love to have this one my GBA or Switch.
very funny im sorry fishes for killing you :(
A man's gotta eat! Thanks for playing
Very pretty game with simple and compelling gameplay <3 I enjoyed my time with it and played multiple rounds. My wishlist for this game would include more sounds and a variety of fishes. Nicely done!
Hey, we have the same wishlist! Thanks for playing :)
We like simple but clever games like this, I think is the first time I play a fishing game with this controls, really fun.
Haven't seen many pico-8 entries so it's refreshing to see one. I love the fish weighing animation. Overall gives me ridiculous fishing vibes.
Ah, button mashing, my favourite mini-game (not sarcastic)! It's not really obvious that you're using fish as bait for other fish. Graphics are decent for a PICO8 game, some more sound might have been nice. Gameplay was really fun and deciding whether or not to go for another catch added a nice little strategic touch to the game.
Yeah I know, the idea was to have different sprites that scale up in size but I got carried away making weighing scales and forgot to focus on the actual scaling part of the theme! Thanks for checking it out!
Love the art and sound effects on this game! Very simple and cute gameplay. I wish we could see the difference in size of the fish visually. Great submission!
That was the plan! The deadline caught up with me.
