I love musical games, and this one was so pretty to play

Submitted

I have rated it at the best 💯 according to it's standards that this game deserves. The design and the concept of the game is very good. A little .more polish and additional features can make it a standout game.

Be sure to play mine as well.

Controls feels bit akward. But the game is interesting. And it's so satisfying to hear full melody at the end. Good job!

Developer

Hey, thanks for the comment!  I had a hard time figuring out how the controls should work in this game and what controls were needed.  I'm curious, what might make them feel less awkward for you?

Submitted

Good controls are really hard indeed. So I don't have solutions. But I can describe problems. Initially I was confused with stop symbol meaning "Record" (in my head this is a circle) and double "Play" symbols. So i had to go an read how to actually play the game. Also I didn't really get why so many different keys are used for notes. Plus every stage keys were different. And it's hard to coordinate vertical in-game keyboard with horizontal real one. Also I had slight issues playing starting note at right time. I think if time indicator was visible before track starts it would be easier. Metronome was not very helpful for me in this regard.

Developer

Hey thanks so much! That is all super helpful feedback!

Glad if that helps.

Definitely creative and satisfying to have the music track revealed piece by piece. Nice work!

Really cool take on the theme! Impressive work!

This is a really creative take on the jam theme! I really like the music SCALE idea haha. I like how the levels got progressively harder but it wasn't too hard so it was easy to get into the flow of the game

Neat idea! It was tricky for me to figure out at first. Would be neat to play something like this on a midi keyboard. I like the idea that you add to the song with each puzzle you complete. Well done!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, 100% this should have midi support.  I don't know if it's possible to implement that in gamemaker, but I'll look into it post jam.

Hello, composer from the game "Crescendo" here! Really cool idea to use MIDI notes as platforms and the layout of a DAW to construct a puzzle platformer! Definitely a unique game and has a lot of potential to succeed as a full game. I found the recording of the notes to add a nice layer of realism when composing music, so that was really cool! The level design was also very clever especially since it had to match the music of the game, so again, amazing work!

This game was so cool!! I love Greek mythology and this is such a cool take on the theme. It did take a second for me to figure out the gameplay and I got stuck about halfway up and couldn't go any further but still had a lot of fun. I think after the jam, you could turn this into a real game with some tweaks and QoL improvements.

Developer

Hey thanks! That means a lot coming from another music game maker.  I do hope to make some improvements after the Jam.  There is a "Post Jam Jam" that I entered after GMTK last year where you take an existing Jam game and work on it for a month.  I'm planning on doing that again with this game.

Submitted

Ooh, I didn't know about the post jam jam, that sounds like an awesome thing and yes, please keep working on this game! It has so much potential and I think it would be such a fun little story/music puzzle game

Really creative game! Got through some of the puzzles, very interesting.

I made it!! What an original idea! When I had to play chords to beat the levels, I almost quit because it was very difficult, but in reality, that wasn't an option because I was really into it hahaha.

Congratulations for the game !

By the way,  is happening that if Eurydice dies one time she becomes transparent?

Awesome job! Thanks so much for playing! I know the last few puzzles are maybe too hard, but  I was running out of time when I was designing them.  Eurydice becoming transparent is a bug that I thought I fixed.  thanks for the screenshot!

Really nice idea! With a bit of extra polish this could be a really great game! Great job!

kinda hard to understand at first and not sure if its a scaling issue but i couldnt see the entire map. good job nonetheless!

Developer

Thanks for comment! I think the first puzzle is a little unclear.  Each puzzle is just one part of the map, and you move up puzzle by puzzle.  You can scroll up at any point using the arrow keys and as you solve puzzles the point of view should move up to the next puzzle.

This reminds me of the composing days ( sorry this may be a little personal : ) ) It's hard for me but absolutely a Great game with excellent puzzles!

I had a lyre but one of the strings broke, deely connected with the composing memory ( ok that's enough )

Thank you for making this inspiring journey!

pretty creative gameplay!

Probably the most unique implementation of the game, good job!

I love the Greek mythology in theming and the puzzle aspects were challenging at first but then it clicked. Good game, good execution.

Developer

Thanks! Very glad to hear the mythology was familiar!

this is so unique, and execution was amazing (๑-﹏-๑)

Very clever take on the theme! My brain couldn't process the later levels unfortunately, skill issue T.T

Developer(+1)

Thank you!  Yeah, there is a big difficulty jump. I was hoping to have a medium difficulty level in between those two, but I ran out of time.

Submitted(+1)

Wow, this was a very creative take on the theme. It was also actually challenging in the later phases. Good job!
