Decent little game, probably could have been executed a little better though. I found myself glitching into the ground at times (Maybe kill the player if they are too big for a space) . I also think you could have made the boxes have a minimum size instead of an exact one as it felt kinda tedious to move them. Overall, solid concept, could have been executed better :)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes i agree that few things could have been better used and done, i will try to make it better next time :)

It's a very good effort and a very nice idea! One thing to feedback is that the controls are all over our keyboard, you are using WASD to move, Up and Arrow keys to scale, and K and L to shoot bullets, would be nice if you can have your two hands in two separate places instead of three. For example WASD for movement U, I to scale, K, L to shoot bullet or something like that

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes the controls weren't really optimized, gonna work on that in the future ! Thank you for your comment :)

The commands didn't match my keyboard and it needs a bit more polish, but for a first game, you have done incredible

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! And sorry for not considering the QWERTY users, i will pay more attention to that next time !

I couldn't play, because the commands didn't match my keyboard, maybe it was made in a different region

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! I am sorry for the inconvenience, i used an AZERTY keyboard and forgot to adapt it to QWERTY as well.

This is so great for a first game, well done!! I see that others have given you plenty of helpful pointers, especially those pointing out UI and tutorials to help the player understand a bit better where to start and what to do. Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Congrats on your first game! :D

I really like the concept, and I think the execution was pretty well done for a first game, though it did get a bit finicky at times, like with scaling to move the box (had to be pushing against it before going to the proper scale in order for it to move, and even then the distance it moved was inconsistent), and knowing to be the right size before casting a spell on the spike (that boy can *shmove* lol)

Some platformer specific notes too, look into adding a coyote time and jump buffer. They add a lot to making the platforming both more forgiving and better feeling for the player. Great job overall!

Thank you for your feedback ! Glad you enjoyed it, i will work on fixing the bugs next time, thank you again for your comment it helps :)

Nice story, not so many game jam games have world building in them. Some puzzles made me feel smart. Little tweeks to player movement like cayote time woudl make a big difference in game feel. But it's just a game jam game and there is not time for everything. I myself am not fully satisfied with movement in my game, so don't worry.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes there are still some improvements to do, thank you for playing the game !

Very impressive for a first game! I had some issues with the UI not being entirely readable always, but it's nothing I couldn't get past. Well done, I had fun with this one!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Glad you enjoyed the game :)

Really cool game !

I had fun trying it, but I ended stuck after doging the huge spike coming towards me, don't know what to do to reach the wooden box :(

Other than that really cool game ! Great job :)

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! You just need to launch the spell a bit early and keep some distance, as when it scales down it accelerates, i didn't have time to manage that problem. I hope you can pass it now :)

Nice work! I had fun, very much enjoyed the concept and the pixel art. The scaling mechanic and controls could be more polished as I managed to get myself into a lot of weird states by scaling up too fast. I hope you continue making games as it's promising considering this is your first!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes the button for reset was made for such bugs haha, appreciate the encouragements tho :)

Good job! The idea is there and I like the mechanics. The pixel art was pretty good and so were the player sprites but the style was inconsistent and they end up clashing, the player wasn't pixelated while everything else was. For a game jam game made in a short time limit, this is perfectly fine, and especially considering this is your first game. My first game was way worse, good job! Hope you keep making games!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes that is because i couldn't make or find a good mage pixelated, so i worked with what i could. I will try to improve this, thank you for your kind comment :)

Good attempt for a first game! Some pointers:
- Some of the controls were a bit finnicky (mainly the potions, perhaps change it into a wand ?)
- There was only one instance of it, but the box pushing physics seem to be a bit odd
- Instead of allowing the blocks to be walked through, just kill the player to reduce the amount of time spent going back

Aside from that though, great effort-- lots of SOUL!
If you have the time, we'd appreciate if you also took a looksy at our game < 3

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! I will work on the things i couldn't to improve them, appreciate the comment ! Yes i will take a look on your game right away :)

Impressive work for a first game!! It is a very fun idea that you should expand in the future :)

In case it helps, I would suggest leaving more empty space in the levels, specially in the first ones, where you want the player to perform jumps easily (without hitting the ceiling) and get used to the mechanics of the game. Also, if you keep only a few scales (say 0.5, 1, and 1.5, instead of steps of 0.1), you probably don't need the labels indicating scales, since it would be obvious from the size of the character and the objects. It feels more natural if you can convey an idea using graphics or storytelling rather than explicitly telling the player about it. Keep it up and congrats again! :D

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes there are few things to improve, thank you for taking the time to write the comment :)

Others have already said a lot of the points that could be polished, one thing I will comment is that the walking through walls when small could perhaps be demonstrated better by having some kind of tunnel looking asset. Anyway congrats on your first game, it's very impressed as a first game in only 4 days, hope you enjoyed making it and continue to do so!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes i didn't intend it to be that way but for some reason i could walk through the wall. Appreciate your comment :)

Pretty solid for a first game, congratulation ! I had some difficulties with the inputs, spacebar to jump would be more intuitive, other than that the music is great and the game has cool vibes!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback ! I will work to fix those littles bugs and polish few things !

Submitted(+1)

Thank you for the treat! The music really got me the very first second. And the level is relaxing, taking me to the flow easily!

I guess the controller and guidance can be polished better ( like in my work lol ).

Hope this get seen and played by more players!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Hope you enjoyed it to the fullest, and hopefully i get to make even better games by the future :)

Congratulations on making your first game! I think other people with better knowledge of platformers game design have already covered how to make the controls feel better, but I had a few other pieces of feedback:

1) I think for future games, you might want to consider making the instructions just be in their own box instead of in the world, since with this setup, often I couldn't actually read them fully until I was far enough along that they weren't particularly helpful anymore.

2) I suspect you're using an AZERTY keyboard to develop? That threw me for a loop, because I'm used to game instructions assuming you have a QWERTY keyboard, so usually the controls are labeled as WASD.

I hope you keep making more games after this jam!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Yes I didn't pay attention that the texts were unreadable sometimes, and yes i am using an aerty keyboard. I will try to make it easier for qwerty users as well next time ! Thank you :D
