A pretty unique idea. Just found it hard to see how many bullets I had left. It's probably just me being dumb, though. There must have been a marker or something that I was blind to. Also didn't like waiting for minutes whenever I rolled a 6 just for enemies to spawn. All in all, it's a very cool idea that I feel would make a good game with some enemy and level variation :D (ooh, and a multi-shot attack, that would be so cool).
I like how it can be advantageous to actually run out of bullets on purpose, so you get the slow-mo boost and a new dice roll. It adds a new layer of depth to the basic idea of ammo, which I love. The pixel art is also lovely, I love how serious the enemies look compared to the colourful main character! The name fits the game, and you can play for as long as you like.
All in all, a really well made game for something done in just 48 hours :D
wow that's the longest review I've done for a jam game
I liked it! For some reason the game would slow down a bunch whenever I started moving again.
Liked the balance between shooting and moving. Felt like I had to use my brain
Cool idea where movement is linked to the roll as well! Good fun to play for a while!
Great game! Had so much fun
Great audio and visuals, and the game is nice as well!
I first didn't quite understand the game, but thanks to the (highly recommended) under the instructions I did, that was very smart. The game itself is very enjoyable and fun to play, but the arrow pointing towards the bombs is a little bit irritating. You think that that is where you shoot.
But overall, really fun and enjoyable game.
Really fun game! The art and music is amazing aswell! Great job, bonky guy :)
It was really fun! Love this concept of rolling your bullets. Good Job!
Fun shooter! I liked the aspect of "rolling" for the bullets and the remainder being your movement. I thought the areas could be a little more detailed, but still a fun and enjoyable game :)
Interesting game concept
Very good game! I really enjoyed it:)
Hello hello! Glad you were able to submit :D
Keep in mind, this is just my opinion, based on the comments, a lot of people disagree with the following xD
🎯 TL;DR
- Tradeoff could have been implemented better for this game
- The UI is split accross all 4 corners, which splits up where the information is (not a good thing)
If you want more details, keep reading, it's a bit blunt though, but I hope it ends up being helpful.
🎮 Here's some feedback on the core of the game:
- Put bluntly, the moving and shooting tradeoff time was confusing... I was mostly shooting, then sometimes I was stuck in place, but just needed to keep shooting. Felt like a normal top-down shooter but sometimes everything slowed down and I needed to shoot a few more times in slow motion.
I feel like this could have been an interesting mechanic, just not in this game. The tradeoff of move and shoot, I don't think fit very well in an action top down shooter. Because I don't have time to look at what I rolled, how much move time I have left, how many bullets I have left. I'm just moving and shooting.
🔎 Minor Nitpicks:
- The scene felt very empty, even with the decorations that were added. Sadly, I don't think the 16x16 sprites achieved the desired outcome when you added them to the scene.
- The dice sprite seems to have its corners missing, which makes it look a bit wacky in game.
- There are 4 different UI elements, health, bullets, walk time, and score. Notice they are all in different corners of the screen. Meaning I can't look in one place to get the information I want. My attention is diverted into the 4 corners, and what's happening in game.
🐛 Bugs:
- Sometimes the bomb button doesn't actually do anything. By sometimes I mean like 1 in 20 or 30, It really didn't happen often, but it happened a few times.
✨ What Was Done Well:
Glad you made it this far, sorry if all the other feedback has been negative! 😅
- The idea of a trade off, having consequences for the player is important!
- Displaying on the player's dice how many shots I had, made it so I could look at the game to get information instead of the UI
Hope this helps in some way! :D
Very good game
Really love that you added a tradeoff system rather than the die roll just making the game easier or harder- it fixes a lot of the design issues and weird difficulty spikes that games that rely on randomness can have. Really elegant design, nice work!
I keep seeing a number of these "the dice determine how many bullets you get" games, but I think this one was clever because it tied it to a tradeoff - if you get more bullets, you can't move as much, and vice versa. In a game where enemies chase you, movement is equally as important as shooting, so I think that was a very smart move. I enjoyed it, and I especially like the interactive segment of the tutorial!
Nice art and very polished! The idea is also pretty creative. The slowmo sometimes killed the flow a bit but overall a great experience.
Wait.. It's not green?? Jokes aside great game with really interesting gameplay and art. Also music is giving me real Pokémon vibes which I like.
A good and ENJOYABLE game ! (gotta say it loud and clear) However I think the floor could have been detailed and sometimes the time gets slowed down ? I didn’t understand that part but the rest is very cool and I think that the tutorial could be interactive from the get-go instead of a long paragraph even tho I did the same thing for my game (which you can try and rate if you want, please).
Reall good presentation. The mechanics are also very solid. I really loved to bullet time.
