Sadly didn't work super well on my machine - ubuntu linux, firefox browser, 4k display, not fullscreened. Super impressed by the polish in such little time and loved the idea, but couldn't put my dice anywhere, they were dragged WAY far away from my cursor when selected, so I couldn't move past level 1.
That's pretty odd. Most of us, except for our UI programmer, encountered this bug. It sounds like your case is far worse (if I had to guess, 4K display would be the reason), although it shouldn't affect gameplay since we track where you click your actual cursor, not the based on the dice positions.
Cool game.. I liked the art so much.. the ai of enemies some times get stuck in the wall which get me OP..
liked the concept of either using dice number in helping u with powerups or opening the door.. it's neat and unique.
u did great guys, well executed, keep it up >_> <3
Very neatly made game, good music, but I can't get the door open even though I have collected all the dice.
have you been putting the dice into the door, or just keeping them stored in your inventory?
How I can put them into the door?
just drag them from the ui element to the door, and you're good to go! its the same way that you recharge your abilities
Thank you, I didn't know about the latter either.
Wow really awesome job with this! I loved the art style and overall presentation of the game, it felt very polished! I was impressed with the dual design of being able to use dice on your abilities or on the door. Although I felt like I should always be using it on the door but then that meant I wasn't using my abilities as much. But still, great job!
Nice game and I loved that the dice had two very important abilities. I really enjoyed the art and music too. I couldn't make it past level 2 lol but yeah great submission :)
Great game! I love the aesthetic!
Very beautiful game! I love the cartoony vibes!
Very cool game with great animations and music! I really liked the art in general! Good job!
Such a good game! I like how the dice is used for both to recharge abilities and open doors)
Nice job! I really had a great time with the game)
This game was really good! The piano in the music was great, the risk reward of doing progress towards the door or protecting yourself in the moment was really nice and the pacing was awesome
Super unique use of theme. Clicking and dragging dice is slightly offset but other then that everything is perfect. Would love to see an expansion of this game maybe where you can heal yourself in some way (I'm not good at the game). Very polished and well done. I like the art and music. Great job
Thoroughly enjoyable combat game! It took me a minute to get to grips with moving dice to increase the amount of abilities I had but after that I had it.
Very fun to play, nice work
Really fun game! I enjoyed how you tie the theme into it -- having to choose between progressing the level and restocking powers made for some interesting decisions. That you can't heal adds to the challenge as well. The original art and music help make this a very polished entry -- great work!
SUPER satisfying visual and audio feedback. Balance and pacing is pretty awesome, challenge is just right. Only real feedback I have right now is I wish the shield lasted like 1 second longer to feel more useful.
This is great! Definitely one of my favourite games in this jam.
I do have some a few very minor issues. I think the hitboxes could do with some tweaking to make it feel more fair and the dash and shield abilities could do with some small buffs to make them feel better to use. Also, there seemed to be an issue where my actual starting health was 5 but displayed as 8? Made it a bit too difficult.
I really like how the dice work and the quick decisions you have to make with them are great. Maybe it would be better if there were multiple places to use dice to unlock the door?
Very fun game. That repel ability was also very satisfying to use.
Regarding the health thing, that's a bug in level 2. (Which was my fault. I placed the player as a prefab and forgot to change their health value /_ \)
Super cool idea! I really like that the dice serve a dual-purpose, in the sense that the can be used for powers or doors - It really makes you think about how you use them. The art is pleasing, as well as the music.
I think it would be super cool to see an expanded version with different powers to equip, or something like that. I also think that the amount of charges you get back should be proportional to the value of the die. It would make high value die that much more impactful, and really force you to think about how you spend them. Taking that idea further, it could be interesting to have each power have it's own cost per charge. So perhaps more powerful abilities are more expensive to recharge, whereas you might have weaker, more spammable abilities that you can load up with charges in-between rooms.
All that being said, I think you did a wonderful job. You have an interesting take on the theme, and a fun game. You should be v proud of what you made :-)
A great looking game that plays great, but it's very hard (I didn't make it past the second level). You all put a lot of work into this and it show. But I do have a question, if I can use the dice to get some powerups charges why I cannot use them to heal myself that?
I dont know how the other devs see it, but I see the powerups as "damage prevention". Using them correctly can help you avoid damage in the first place. Being able to heal yourself, I feel, would probably be redundant. Having really limited health also gave a lot of tension and challenge to the game.
One of the better top-down shooters on this jam, and has some really great assets and music! Good execution.
Great concept, it was really fun to play!
What I liked?
- The pace of the overall game was quite intense, which is something that I liked a lot, the music was on the spot on with this feeling!
- The choice between feeding the door OR refilling a power was interesting in term of design, in a way where sometimes it was hard to choose while at the same time there is a dice which is disappearing. In short: nice!
Other comments:
- While taking a Dice, I would have liked a little "slow-motion" in order to have more room to take better decisions
- Sometimes I found the aim a bit imprecise with the Fireball, it didn't land exactly where I aimed
Overall great work!
