The mechanic was pretty interesting! I really liked the art and sound effects, but the character did feel a bit janky to control. The tutorial was cool, but it took me a long time to see that that was a mouse icon, other than that, I really like the tileset and how the art looks!
Ok this have has some really cool polish to it. The lighting, physics, animations and art just flow so well. The satisfaction of rolling the dice is just juicy. I did not realize I could use my mouse for the longest time and got stuck being unable to swim under water but I quite enjoyed my time here. Good job on the design and music as well. Thanks for this experience.
Would love to hear what you think of our little project.
Oh hey ! Similar-game-bro, your game looks amazing and the music is so soothing. I really love how it feels and how the animations look . and the tutorial is brilliant. It's great work and I'd love to see a longer release.
Really unique concept and great atmosphere! I really liked the idea of the different dice affecting their density and was honestly a bit sad that I ran out of content. The graphics are nice and the sound is pretty good as well. The one thing that I would say needs to be improved is maybe the character movement, because right now it feels a little unsatisfying. Overall, a really nice and unique game! -Sincerely, Henry_Hamster
Loved the art and the music! Was a bit janky trying to get ahold of the die again when it tries to go flying off, but overall, a really cool concept. Great work!
I love the art style, and the tutorial design is really cool! I wish it was easier to have the dice stay on the buttons though, I had some difficulty getting around them without moving them off. Really cute submission overall :)
Art is great. I love the tutorial design. Really nice way to teach the player without text boxes.
A very atmospheric platformer that reminds of Celeste (I dunno, the music, pixelart and whole vibe of it). Very nice shaders and pacing design. The dice mechanic has a lot of potential, I imagined while playing what if in the full game you'd have the option to acquire different dice types with different abbilities. I'm sad I wasn't able to play more than the first few levels, beacuse it crashed then. Anyways, congrats on your submission domjanabi!
The art-style looks great, I wish there was more to do in the game but this would do great as a tutorial for a full release someday!
A bit janky but I like the tileset a lot!
Thought it was a really neat idea! Would have been nice to play the other 4 levels, though.
I feel like the ability to throw the the die should have been one of the first things I learned to do. Also I got frustrated a few times after pressing the R key instead of the E key.
Everything looks and sounds really clean. I wish I had been able to do that in my other projects!
Great job overall!
Art and sound design are very well done, the control could be a little more intuitive tho, other than that the idea is very unique and the level design is really great!!
Good idea, nice tutorial. The only critique I have is that it's a bit clunky. It was pretty easy to teleport yourself out of the bounds of the level.
This game is pretty and atmospheric. I originally wanted to do something similar, of using the dice as part of a puzzle. But I never would have gotten to this idea.
I appreciate writing the tutorial into the tile map, but it might become an issue for other players. A few labels wouldn't hurt anybody! Maybe code them to disappear on a setting if you want to enforce the immersion.
The controls feel too convoluted for what you want to do with them. Simplify for smoother gameplay!
It's quite a shame. I was really looking towards the other levels. But for what its worth, really good job on the game!
thank you a lot!
by convoluted controls i would assume you mean that the functions of Q and E should map to the same Key?
Hm, yeah something like that. I had to fumble around cause I wasn't sure what either button did. I think the right click button would have been a good place for it.
Looks awesome. Loved the pixel art style and the sound effects.
Great art and music! Rerolling dice into something different is a cool meachinc for a puzzle, which can be expanded upon.
One thing I would change is how the Q button works, it feels like it should just place dice in player's hand (as a Q + E combination), since 1 and 2 dice just float away from before you can interact with them.
you're totally right, if i had more time i would've made Q just place the die into your hand.
sorry for the frustration and thanks for the feedback!
The art is beautiful. It was simple yet so pleasing.
The dice mechanic was cool and I loved the rolling sound.
Idk if it was a glitch or the game is just unfinished, but I hit a void and it booted me back to the menu.
In any case, what you have is really quite cool, and you should keep working on it!
sorry for the bug, the second level was also available tho!
The very beginning levels look and feel great. The art and sound style are great and the way you convey instructions with the level maps is really interesting and intuitive.
I unfortunately wasn’t able to get past level 1. At the end of the level I hit a gray wall and it boots me back to the menu. Manually selecting level 2, I’m thrown into an area that I haven’t been introduced to the mechanics yet (there’s a button on the ceiling). Trying to load any other level gives an error in console.
I also wasn’t having luck getting my clicks to register; based on the description I assume this should change the die number.
Let me know if you know what may be wrong — would love to try a fixed version to give a rating. My hunch is that there are other files that are supposed to be bundled with the .exe.
Thank you for your time!
Unfortunately i only managed to make two levels with the limited time i had, so that's where the errors are coming from, as there were supposed to be more levels. I can totally understand how the rolling mechanic was unclear. The tutorial i tried to piece together had one room whose symbols (Left mouse button, and Die) were quite cryptic. The intention was to use the mouse once you're holding the die (using E) to roll it.
As for not being able to finish the first Level, i added the Goal at the very end of the gamejam, so what you saw was actually you reaching the end of the level! I apologize for not communicating that thoroughly.
What was supposed to happen after you finish the first Level was being spawned at the beginning of the second one.
What happened instead is that you were taken back to the menu, but your progress of having played through the first level was saved, so if you were to press Play again you would be taken to Level 2.
That being said, you ended up playing Level 2 from its beginning, there is nothing you missed out on, it's just that i tried to cram more complex puzzles into the level ~15 mins before the gamejam ended. Since i didn't make sure that you can't progress without understanding how the die works and what rolling it does, the second level must've been really confusing.
Gotcha! I think the “while holding the die” was the important piece that I missed. Just went back and played the rest you had, and really liked it! Definitely feels very Celeste-esque with the different environmental pieces, pixel art, music style, and SFX. Would love to have seen more levels.
Congrats on making this in 48 hours!
thank you very much!
Holy cow! The art style and game mechanics in this game are amazing! The visuals remind me of Celeste and the gameplay is very tight. I love how satisfying it is to pick up dice and open gates. The sound design is also really strong and I can totally see this becoming a full game. If you aren't planning on it already, I suggest continuing to work on this and eventually commercialize it. Cheers :D
thank you so much
