Excelent game, I love how the gameplay feels, it’s areally polished game, I’m wondering how you handle all the checkpoints stuff and your transitions. Only thing to complain is the first part of the cave level, it’s kinda hard.
the checkpoint stuff is pretty easy and in one place in level 2 even a bit broken :-D
i have some area2D's with collision rects, when the player enters them, the global_position of the checkpoint will be saved in a state (autoload script). when you die, i check if i have a last_checkpoint set and beam the player to that place :-D
i also keep track of the previous checkpoints so that you cannot retrigger an earlier one (it's a simple array of positions).
when you restart the entire game or switch the level, i clear the checkpoint list
thanks for playing! glad you liked it :-)
Oh ok cool, I thought it was more complicated to save stated of the game, but I guess that in your case it’s not needed. I was thinking more about instances where you need to save object/enemy states on checkpoint or something, but this is actually pretty nice. Thanks for sharing!
This game was very fun and I would love to see more levels in the future. Great work!
Moving around with the bow was surprisingly fun! The game also looks nice, has good music and sound, and I didn't find any bugs. My only complaint is that it doesn't really fit the jam theme. I know you make the grass grow, but that feels more like letting nature heal, the plants don't evolve from scratch.
I loved the warp bow, it was so much fun! Also the bloom effect looked amazing! I wish I knew how to use shaders like that. The game was hard, but I persisted finally got past that one section of level 2, and the rest wasnt too bad. It was very satisfying to overcome, so good job! Its a great game.
sorry, but on the second stage, there is a short cut at the start where you can just shoot up teleport there and walk above the map till finish. I wish, I can send the recording.
Great game btw, sometime I forget that I can walk and keep shotting arrows.
jep, i noticed that during my last playtest, but did not manage to avoid that in time. was a struggle to develop, release manage and playtest / last refinement at the same time :)
there is even one fix i've made in stage two but i somehow managed to not include it into the final build lol
It's okay I mean, I spot three place to do it.
i only discovered one so far ^^
the other two need mid air shoot so it's a little hard to get.
ah, nice to see that people are getting that engaged by the game :-)
i think this one sneaked in because i changed the arrow lifetime.
thanks for playing and having fun with it ^^
Nice atmosphere and really cool warping mechanic !
I also like the premise where you try to escape from a global machine takeover, the spritework, effects, and use of color for the corrupt/restored areas is also nicely done, with great music to boot, and overall makes everything click together to fit the mood.
My main gripe is that some of the arrow trick puzzles feel quite hard to pull off, and i think it's mainly due to two factors, first that you have no cosshair indicator when you're not preparing your bow to shoot, and second some of the puzzle design which seem a bit hard i.m.o.
Other than that, it's solid, plays well and is fun.
Well done :)
Very aesthetic, atmospherical and beautiful.
The controls are solid and the theme usage is very clever!
Well done! I really enjoyed it.
i can’t believe the game itself, with all the art and gameplay, was made by a single person! great job @SuspiciousUnikorn! never expected to see THIS after joining a gamejam team that had only 1 person in it.
i agree with the others, the gameplay is very fun and the visual effects are beautiful. some of the warp puzzles are really fun and i look forward to turning this into a full game with you!
i’m the composer for this project so i’m not gonna comment on my own music :P
Thank you :-)
Your music adds so much to it. it would be different experience without it!
This is really well put together, honestly! A few bugs here and there that could be smoothed out but there's a ton of promise in this game already!
Only complaint is I didn't see much in the way of the Evolution theme. That's a minor complaint for what is an otherwise great entry.
yeah, my core take on the topic was "Levolution", the mutation of the gameworld. but it did not transport that well. :-)
thanks for your feedback and for playing :-)
i think it should count, it’s a form of evolution.. corrupted land evolves into healed land :D
The huge warp explosion animation was great, as well as impactful. Also the teleport mechanic and related puzzles were really fun :D
That was a pretty cool game, took me quite a while to actually beat it!
The only gripes I have are minor camera control issues and that you can move while screen has gone black.
This could be probably made into full game!
Couldn't stop playing until I stood on This Block :D Had tons of fun with this one, this could easily be a full game! Great art style and very responsive controls.
haha, so nice someone actually did this!
thank you very much!
I loved this game. The warp felt slick and responsive. You thought of cool challenges around the warp. I definitely think this is one of the standout games in this jam. The effect of bringing life into the void is amazing
thank you! :-)
i'm happy that you enjoyed it
Really good game the visuals are quite impressing though one thing i noticed was we could start moving before the level screed fades off this could lead for the player dying the moment the level screen fades because of the spike
yes, i know, but i did not had time to fix it in time :-)
another critical bug is that vou can get stuck between a wall and a platform ^^
thanks for playing! :-)
Really good game!!! I love the visuals so much, and the core mechanic is really fun and intuitive. Really good music and SFX which fit the game too! The second level is a bit overly challenging in my opinion, but I think a few tweaks could fix that, but overall it's a really well crafted jam entry. Well Done!!!!
Amazing entry. Everything comes together in the second stage. It might be a bit too dificult to be casually enjoyed. I had to break out the controller to be able to make some of the trickier sections. I would love if you don't keep you downward momentum when you shoot an arrow so you could save yourself from falling to your death with a well placed arrow at the last moment. Amazing art suspensful music and a very cool core mechanic. I liked it a lot.
oh damnit, i totally forgot about the downward vel ^^
Thanks for your Feedback:)
Nice platforming with good skilful puzzles.
thank you :-)
Very nice presentation! this looks really well done. But I don't find the gameplay engage much with the story, so the story in the game description doesn't make me look at the game any different. The game is still a puzzle game to me after I read the story. By the way, nicely done!
yeah, the story sadly came a bit short, because i did not had time to create more assets to drive the story a bit further.
This game has well crafted levels with clear and simple controls that still holds the potential for so much depth. The shader work is impressive without being too flashy, it's there to do a real job and it does it so well.
This should be made into a room-by-room based Celeste-esque game with quick retries.
I think the biggest strengths of these mechanics is pulling off several difficult moves in a row, where you can show off your range in level design skills and allow the player to experiment without having them worry about losing progress.
I repeat: go for a more fluid and flexible version of Celeste/Super Meat Boy/etc.., with a single (or two at most) additional core mechanic to be revealed later, and you have a winner on your hands. A game with a feasible development scope that you can work on in chunks. I know I'm going to love it, at least.
Seriously, great work!
nice controls, and art. It was hard to. Nice that you had some saving spots. But i nearly punched the screen when i made it up the long upward place in the cave. But then died and hade to do it again :)
maybe i should add "soulslike" as a tag :-D
thanks for the feedback :-)
i wanted to make it a bit harder to create some tension. so that you feel a bit engaged reaching the next checkpoint. hope you did it to level2.
