The art is really cute, and it's very cool to have the gameplay taking place on the pages XD

Developer(+1)

I agree on the coolness, and it was easier than I thought to implement! Thank you!

Amazing game. Wonderful job, and yes, the world needs more frog games!

Developer

Thank you!

I love the story book style of the whole game! The art is cute and the combat is fluid. Definitely a great addition to this game jam.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The book was one of the first things I added as a test to see if I could get it working, and you already saw the result! Glad you liked it.

Developer

Thank you, glad you had fun!

Really cute game.  And a first time... amazing job

Developer

Thanks!! It is our first time in this specific game jam, not the first game hehe. It's my third game jam using Godot!

OHHH MY GOSH the art is so cute and the book concept is so charming. I love the narration and the story its so cute. The little loading animation with the spinning grown is a nice touch. I like the little practice area when we are introduced I think that’s a good way to introduce the controls and is aesthetically pleasing. I like the little frog man animations very cute hehe. The effect of the wood chips flying in the attack is neat, and so is the bg animation of the flowers. THe music is hilariously calming despite me beating up the log haha. Not sure if the loading time is just slow on my computer or something, but there were a few pages I had to wait quite a while. All in all an extraordinarily gorgeious game with impressive technical implementation.

Developer

Yes the pages also took some time to load occasionally for me as well in the web version. Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

Cute beat-em-up game rendered beautifully inside a book. Great entry, just one thing, the enemies would attack from outside of the book without warning. Otherwise great game.

Developer

I didn't even think about that happening, thank you for your feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game, but the fast attack is just better so slow attack felt kinda useless.

Developer

Thank you! The uppercut can be useful if you get surrounded, but you are correct that just mashing punch is the key to success. I am new at creating a beat-em-up style game, so there is much improvement to be had. I appreciate the feedback!

Wow, amazing game!! Great music and sound effects, love the art style, the narration was excellent. Even had a dancing ant! Had a ton of fun beating up the birds, great game!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you had fun!

Holy crap, I can't believe this is a game jam game! Might be one of my favourite game jam games ever. This is so cool and just let me tell you the frog is so cute! Can't have it enough :D
P.S. I hate those brown herons... They are so annoying...

Developer(+1)

Thanks!! JammyDoodles really knocked the artwork out of the park on this one.

Submitted

Oh for sure. Even my wife was excited to see the froggo punching out those herons!

this is so cool i love the voice acting

Developer

Thank you! Voiced by JammyDoodles (the artist) and I agree, she did a great job.

One of the few times I was happy to get grabbed by the bird to see the cool animation. You did an amazing job with the game!

I also loved how the foot stomp made all the enemies bounce :) nice touch!

Developer

Thank you! I agree that JammyDoodles did an amazing job with all of the artwork and animation!

Glad you enjoyed it.

One of the coolest game jam games I've seen! I'd love to learn how you did the 2D projected onto a storybook technique. Super charming art style, and the difficulty was just right for me. My fingers hurt from mashing the J key lol.

Awesome job!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

The book used two SubViewport nodes, one for the static part of the book and the other for the animated page. It was just a matter of setting up the book's UVs to display one of the two viewports at specific parts of the scene transitions.

Wow, this is insanely polished! The graphics are amazing! I feel like the fighting is overstaying its welcome a bit though. I think it could use some hook like a leveling system or special moves could help mix things up a little. Otherwise, this is outstanding!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yes, we did want to do more with the gameplay but did not have enough time to have everything animated / implemented. We initially planned to have multiple stories to play through (as one of the wildcard ideas / multiple characters), but ended up deciding to just focus on polishing up one story given the time constraint.

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful game, really love the idea and play inside the book was very original!
Good work!!!

Developer

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

I love the artstyle especially the book thing, but also the refference to adventure time dancing bug

Developer

Dancing bug is best bug!

Submitted(+1)

I loved it! The art, the music, and that story-book aesthetic seemed very original to me :D

Developer

Thank you! We're happy you enjoyed it.

There's so much to like about this game. The characters and level convey so much personality. Shout out to the little bugs dancing in the foreground. The combat is a little basic, but the boss fight was actually very fun and well balanced. Awesome little game.

Developer

Thanks! We tried to keep the difficulty down so everyone could enjoy it. We did want to have more of course, but time waits for no man.

Submitted(+1)

Fun concept! I really like the storybook art and page turn animation.

Developer

Thank you! I thought the page turning was cool too. It was the very first thing I implemented in the game and was surprised at how well it worked.

Submitted(+1)

Enjoyed this game.  Really good artwork and animations.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you liked it!
