Pretty fun game. As I love Slay the Spire type games, I hope to play more of this.
One bug I found (I played browser version on OperaGX). Tested few times with both Faunas.
After using item, you can use other items directly from the bag during the same combat. After using other item(s) your turn buttons appear even if enemy is rolling their attack, but you can't click those buttons.
Quite a fun little excursion through Fauna's dungeon (dilemma)! I thought this was an interesting take on the classic progression formula, with your gorgeous art style to boot. Having different classes is a good concept to yield options for the player, which influences how they'll ultimately play.
In my opinion, the core RNG element is two-faced: on one hand, it relies on the outcome of the chaotic universe sampling a fun next ability for me to use and thus can be tricky to strategize around or get rerolls (which I would love to see more of a feature built around the way Fauna has it, to reduce some of that out-of-control flow), which means extra care has to be given to the player experience -- but on the other hand, it is a pretty unique experience that does have some strategy to it based on the class you play, drawing from the wonders of RPG elements and an interactive experience much in the way that tabletop games can often be; and I appreciate the huge potential this game has as a base demonstrator, as a result!
I think you could take this in many directions and ultimately flesh it out with all the content Fauna and us all could only imagine, since you have something meaningful here to iterate on! Would be curious to see if you do... thank you for submitting! 🙇♂️
Short and sweet game.
Very pretty art! I really liked it. The purely RNG based gameplay was OK. I'd love to have more influence on the actions.
I think you have a good base here that can be expanded into a full game after the jam.
This is so fun, I'd love to play more of this. Cute art, good usage of sound and music, pretty sensible UI so far. And this system of stacking buffs and statuses over time can't be easy. WIP stuff aside, I think the combat has a lot of room to speed up, even without a skip button. Clicking ability could spin right away, player and enemy can spin at the same time, idk, but a couple little things like that would add up. Great job
Cute game.
Other than "I Need more content!", it would be nice to be able to see any status changes (summoned samplings, defense up/down numbers), and see the boss health.
Also I would recommend adding a simple pause menu, and more the Return to Main Menu arrow onto that. Can prevent the player from mistakenly pressing the Return/Restart arrow during the boss fight (like me).
If you plan on developing this further please let me know! Would very much like to help on get a fun project off the ground.
The art here is super cute and I really like the proof of concept that's being presented here :0
Tying all of the actions to single dice rolls is a pretty unique idea but the combat kind of flows slightly weird, especially if you keep hitting "Nothing" or the other non-attack options. Still, there's a lot of potential here and the biggest thing about this game for me is that it's left me wanting more already haha
If you do take this game even further, I'm super excited to see more of it!
Love the artwork in this! Game feels really polished, and everything looks so cute and fluffy. As for the gameplay, wish there is a skip button or you can click to immediately skip the rolling animation. Currently it is taking a little too long each turn personally.
Really Cute Game! Also got Potential for so many things you should continue and make it a full game! At least i would love to see its full release.
Great submission! Excellent vibes. I think being a bit more transparent with information like showing remaining HP on the enemy and if you have any abilities or modifiers currently active for clarity, sometimes when doing a counter I wasn't sure if the ability was still active. I really like the idea that items can provide a passive or an active, nice little way to add choice and consequence to the game loop.
I really really wanted to add visual indicators for the buffs and DEF, but I ran out of time sadly! It's definitely something I'll add in an update. As for enemy HP visibility, I was unsure whether it should be visible for not during development, but seeing it now, I do think it should be visible. Thank you for the feedback!
This game is so cute! I like how brawler Fauna squares up every thing xD I look forward to the future of this game ^_^ Very nice~
Ah, I see someone else had that idea as well! I really like you take on it, and the art and UI are especially great. The only thing I'd change at the moment are the abilities. It feels like there are too few damage dealing options for the player, sometimes you get unlucky and don't damage the enemy at all for many turns, making the battles drag on a bit. Other than that it's great!
I did plan for the player to be able to change abilities into more useful ones (like having items/blessings give more attack options), but I didn't have time to add them :(. However even so, the starting abilities definitely are lacking in offensive abilities. Thanks for playing!
Cool proof of concept! I actually kind of wanted to make a game version of Fauna's ttrpg setup at some point, so I'm glad someone's gone ahead and already explored that concept a bit! Art is also super cute; I only wish it had more and was a little faster (having to sit through the action roll animation over and over again got a little boring). Very nice overall though!
I like the art, its really cute. I hope to see where you go with this.
The art is adorable!! I think I'd play a lot of this game
Very promising game! Excited to see where the idea goes
