I like Big Eddy's character a lot, I'd love to see a whole cast of characters to match! I liked the rotating planets too, they look cool.

Did you follow the theme?
Yes. You use a ship to heat and cool planets to a specified temperature.
Did you (you or your team) do the graphisms yourself?
Yes. Sorry they aren't that great.
Did you (you or your team) do the musics and sounds yourself?
Yes. Sorry it's not the best.

Very minimalist haha. Definitely interested in a lore that expands upon the reason why a dog is in charge of planets' climates. Do let me know if expanded upon.
neat little game simple and easy to figure out. You did a good job on the art and music even though you say it wasn't that great they fir the game nicely. The rest seems to be already said by other since I was late to the party.
But good job on your first time using animator :)
I love the premise of the story XD and the art was super duper cute XD. The only issue I had was the mechanics. It felt there could be more done to it. I hope you make an extended version of this XD
Thank you very much for playing my game and for the compliments. Art's not really my string suit but I want to get better at it so it means a lot that someone called the art cute. I am planning on continuing work on this game once the jam is all over and adding new parts to it and challenge. A good chink of the time for the jam was me learning the animator and fixing bugs as I worked.I am looking forward to making this a bigger project than just a game jam game.
The core concept of this game is great! Big eddy's character is amazing. I can see a lot of routes where you can take this idea. You can have planet defenses trying to kill you and messing with the temperature of the planets, change your blaster so it switches cooling for heating and vice versa. Starting off with a simple weak ship and using your money for upgrades so you can go on harder planets! Maybe go on a darker path and mess with the temperature of other planets. With a good core concept like this game, the potential is incredible! Good Job!
Very original game concept, great use of the theme! I loved the characters and animations on the planets. I'd love to see a few more game mechanics added. Well done!
Now the thing about this game is that it poses a very interesting ethical conundrum: it's clear that from Big Eddy's speech at the beginning that people live on these planets, and what they think about their planet's temperature being changed by hundreds of degrees doesn't matter.
In addition, you have a beam which can both heat up and cool down a planet by hundreds of degrees in a matter of minutes - a massive amount of energy, comparable to a small star! You're telling me it can also suck away heat??
Now the big questions - who is Big Eddy? Why is he so big? Why does he want these planets cooled/heated? Where did he even get this super powerful ship from, and why does he need you to pilot it? Why doesn't anyone defend themselves? Is Big Eddy really an evil dictator teaching subjugated worlds a lesson? Is he referring to "customers" in the sense of people to be served a fiery/icy hell, or is he really a subcontractor under some other far more nefarious super-being?
And the biggest question: Would you kill millions for a quick buck? It's an easy enough job. Just push the right button for long enough, and you get swished to your next task.
Evidently, yes. Yes I would. If you did too, well, you have a lot to think about.
I don't know what you want me to say, Big Eddy's just your average anthropomorphic bull dog that runs a discount Planet Heating and cooling business. Sure, you could go to Paddz Plus Planet Emporium but then you'd need to pay twice as much and sure, their employment package may include clone tier life insurance but Big Eddy's.....um....we have a really sweet water cooler.
I really enjoyed working for Big Eddy! Nice job on the dialogue writing :) As others have said, it would be nice if it was a bit more challenging. I also noticed that if you play the game again after you've completed it, the money doesn't get reset so you can potentially rip millions off of Big Eddy!
Thank you very much for playing. I didn't know about that bug. if must've just been something that I didn't pay attention to when I decided to do a static class instead of a singleton method to keep track of the score. I'm planning on continuing to work on this game after the game jam's over and am working on adding challenge to the game. Thank you for the compliment on the dialogue, I was just wanting him to sound like a particular type of boss (I think we all know the one, even if just from shows).
I am gonna continue developing the game. I'm working on ways to add challenge to the game and more things to it in general. I'll have to only be able to work on it when I can though because it's getting close to when I'll have to be back in Colorado to be in my first official play and I don't know if I'll be able to work on it the few months I'm there for the play. If I will be able to, it won't be as often as I'd like but rest assured, I'll be working on it.
I love Big Eddy up in the top left corner making sure I don't *screw this up* like the *last guy.* XD Do you make more money for being faster?
Big Eddy is a fun character! The art is a little rough, but that honestly just adds character to the game (in a good way!). To improve gameplay maybe you could prevent the level from ending the instant you hit the exact temperature goal. Instead allow players to under/overshoot the temperature so they will have to adjust it in the other direction to get it right, forcing them to be more careful. Good job!
Thank you very much! The art's rough because, honestly, art really isn't my strongsuit ^^' I'm happy with how he turned out though. I'm actually working on some stuff for after the jam's completely over to put in the game. Thank you very much for playing the game and for your feedback, it means a lot.
Interesting concept for the jam. Good work on the animations and some good comical writing. I do wish the game was a little more interactive though, or that there was more to do. But I definitely think you should be proud of the game!
Love the character of the game, great vibes. Definitely could use variety in gameplay, I think a thing you could do really simply is add multiple planets to a scene to manage side by side. Nice job!
Thank you very much. I'll definitely look into that. I'd need to be adding the ability for the player to move the ship but that's a simple enough thing to do and it's something I've done before. I guess having something, like orbiting moons could be another challenge. I do plan on developing this more after the jam.
Those are good ideas. Thank you very much for them! I've done a game before where a sprite always follows your mouse. It was a block breaker game where the paddle followed the horizontal movements of your mouse. It's not on here, however ^^' Making the mouse clicks work no matter where your mouse is is easy enough with a simple GetKeyDown(KeyCode.Mouse0)/GetKeyDown(KeyCode.Mouse1) and such which monitor the clicks and such. If you meant something else, sorry, i didn't understand what you meant.
I like this game and Big Eddy. I think you could take this idea and run with it. Make a space age job simulator.
Nice work! I liked the story and the concept a lot. It would be nice to have a few more challenges or twists in the levels, something to work around in order to successfully heat/cool the planet.
The menus and functionality are working pretty well, no issues that I could spot. Looking forward to playing again if you work on it after the jam.
Well done on putting together a chill game with an interesting story in the span of the game jam. Reading below, it's great to hear your plans for progressing the game, and I think there's some real potential here for a really solid experience. I think some degree of extra challenge in the later levels would be cool, such as obstacles on screen or a fuel gauge for your beams. Otherwise, well done for making all of the assets yourself, and a great start with Unity's animator!
Thank you for the compliment and advice. I'm planning on making it a bit more challenging and adding other aspects to the game after the jam is fully over. I was even thinking of making an avatar for your character and even having various things (like more planets or even maybe looking into a way that the game can make planets). This little project was supposed to be a way for me to learn the animator and how to animate through Unity. I'm happy to have been a part of this game jam and thank you very much for playing it and giving your feedback. It means a lot.
