Ranked from 53 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

Did you work in a team?
No

Was the resolution a challenge?
The small resolution made it difficult to show certain UI elements, and I had to modify some of the artwork to make sure things were legible. I decided to use a limited color palette to save time on making art decisions.

What did you learn?
I learned several things that I'll be able to use in the future, like how to make enemies follow you when you are close to them.

Very fun little game.

Music, sfx, and visuals were all really well done, the final cutscene looked good as well with it's own separate music which was a good touch. Gameplay wise, it was interesting trying to juke the little attackers to hit them while avoiding their bullets, I'm glad health and ammo was quite plentiful because I got shot a bunch of times haha. The small map also prevented it from being frustrating to find the terminals, if it was any larger I would have liked a compass or something.

All in all a really polished and strong jam entry, great job!

Perfectly polished little game! :) A boss fight would have been sweet, but its a great game as is anyway, really good!

Really slick! I love the color palette and sfx, and the little touches like hit flash that really make the shooting feel solid. Didn't realize the ammo was limited (even though it was made really obvious in the HUD) until I ran out and there was a fun little mad scramble, but it just added to the story for me. Really great work! This is about the perfect jam game size to me, but I would definitely play more.

Nice game, could use some more variety with the enemy design but otherwise the game is very polished! Those mines get me everytime tho.

The art is very well done too!

Great game! Short but fun, easy controls, nice art, music, and sfx. Good job!

Congratulations on making this game !

I've played your game during a live that you can watch here :

I hope the feedback and live reactions will be useful to you. Keep it up !

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I’m definitely going to be entering more jams in the future. This was a very rewarding experience. I also played your game and really enjoyed the atmosphere and artwork.

Really nice little polished experience. Congrats on submitting to your first game jam!

Very nice game, it actually has a finish which is nice and it looks and sounds great.

The lot-res low-bit art style is really nice, I liked that. Game was fun, control and the shooting takes a while getting used to,but that is easy enough to do.

Beautiful low-res graphics; I very much enjoyed watching everything move around the screen as I was playing. I also appreciate the time you put into small details like making certain things animate when hit with a bullet to show that your shots were having an effect. Well done!

I really enjoyed the minimal and clean color scheme you used in the game. The controls were also easy to use which made the game a lot of fun.

Really nice polished little game :) The graphics look great - you even have an ending animation! The music and sound effects also fit well..

The gameplay was also fun… first I tried to defeat everything but since everything takes quite a lot hits and ammo is rare you had to think and rather avoid battles… I liked it :)

Nice game! The limitation of ammo and life makes you hunt for supply from time to time, and this creates tension for the gameplay. Nice art-style too :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I decided to limit the ammo at the last minute to make it more difficult. Early on I was going to have a mechanic where you were always running out of oxygen and have to keep replenishing to really make you feel like you're against the clock. I may re-visit that idea in another jam.

Very fun and excellent use of the limited resolution.  Liked the music as well.  Good job.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I can’t take credit for the music though. I usually write my own, but to save time for the jam I got the songs from OpenGameArt.org

Pretty sweet, Wes. I’m a sucker for a flying protagonist. The use of the low-rez real estate is very nice. I like the subtle animation frames you put in of accentuate movement.

Developer

Thanks! I know it’s been done lots of times before but wanted to do something safe for my first time to make sure I could get it done in time. I’d like to venture out next time and be a little more unique.

It was really fun. I like the art aswell. Great work!

Developer

Thanks!

Really excellent. For a first jam game it's stellar. Everything about it works great. Graphics, music, mood. I tend to not like a lot of inertia in games but this was less stressful than most and it gives you time to figure out your next move.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I had fun and will be looking out for more to enter this summer.

Loads of fun. Enjoyed. Frustrated with the movement a little, but such a slick game.

Great job !

Developer

Thanks! If you don't mind me asking, what do you think would help improve the movement?

Submitted

Fun game, I really like the art! Gave it a really nice style!

I like the art style. The jetpack gameplay reminds me a bit of Alien Carnage/Halloween Harry.

What I'd change is add some minimal ammo regeneration to the game. I found myself out of ammo and unable to progress at some point.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I was worried about running out of ammo, so I did add a 15 second respawn to the ammo. Next time I’ll work out a better solution or think about switching it back to unlimited ammo.
