Description
A soundtrack written for Lone Rabbit's OST Composing Jam #7 based off the theme "Inside My World". Chiptune tracks were made using FamiStudio and the orchestral track was written within MuseScore.

Pond Tales is an imaginary GameBoy RPG about a young boy and the imaginary world he explores by jumping into a pond by his house. Together with his friends, exploration is a non-stop adventure whether it be helping local wildlife or defeating dangerous enemies. Immerse yourself in the laid-back and fun atmosphere of this world while helping our protagonist go on as many adventures as possible! The game's soundtrack is written in an 8-bit style, with the first track being an orchestral piece for the game's cinematic/animated trailer. For those who are interested, my thoughts on each track are posted on the game's project page.

Message from the artist
Hi everyone, this is my submission for OST Composing Jam #7. This is my first time doing an event like this and overall I had a great time. I'm by no means a good composer yet, but events like these really give me the inspiration to try and take that next step. Thanks for listening and hopefully you find a track that you like!

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I tried to take the theme of "Inside My World" and apply it to myself. Thus, the game's/soundtrack's whole premise is based around the sort of adventures and world I daydreamed about when I was a kid.

You definitely know the genre very well

The mix between orchestral and chiptune sound in Cinematic Trailer was very brave! Did you take inspiration from the Joe Hisaishi style?

Also the rhythmic aspect of the Title Track is remarkable.

Good work!

Interesting choice to go for the orchestral cinematic trailer music and then in-game chiptune music but I think it works, I can really see the trailer in my mind when listening to it so great job with that!

Chiptune tracks are all solid, very nice use of the bleeps, bloops and fx to accompany the bass and melody.

Very nice choice to include a battle victory jingle and it's a great one too.

Very nice chiptune tracks!  Loved the opening sequence you had, them delved all the chiptuney greatness.  I can hear your influences via your melody and harmonies, very reminiscent of Gameboy track limits, really great work conveying that.  Like others have mentioned, I think a bit more expression within the sf themselves would bring this to another level of production!  Maybe even incorporating the orchestral elements you had in the opening track too.

Overall, great stuff, really nostalgic!

as a HUGE fan of the original pokemon soundtracks, you took my right back to when i would obsessively turn on GB sounds in my pokemon ds games so i could hear all those lovely lil chiptune vibes, and you captured the spirit of that gameboy style pretty much perfectly! Stylistically I think you did a brilliant job with all the tools you had available to you, sticking to the GB soundchip is a pretty big challenge and I think you used it incredibly well, to the point where i would encourage you to try even more to push it and mess around with maybe some gliding and vibrato effects if thats at all possible, because it could really bring you skills on this from great to perfection with that little extra personal flare! My only complaint is that i think the lead is a bit quiet in the battle theme, but other then that you really blew me away with this. Well done!

Super charming and great chiptune!  A complete OST, great job it was lovely listening!

Fun, very throwback oriented Chiptune! Reminds me of some gameboy games I jammed as a kid. The orchestral rearrangement / lead in of the theme is a nice touch.

These tracks are so fun! I liked the idea of the "Cinematic Trailer" that shows of the game's features, kind of similar to a Nintendo Direct showcase.

The other tracks are important elements in these types of games like the "Battle Theme" and "Main Town Theme". My personal favorite was the "Battle Victory" theme despite being short. Great Submission!

These are so fun and cool! I really like the idea to make a song for a trailer as a way to use a really different composition style!

I also really like the artwork. This is a fantastic entry!

Submitted

Very light composition, that was really fun to listen to!

Chiptones! These are some charming compositions that are very well executed, specially the orchestral trailer theme. But I feel like the other tracks gets a bit held back by sticking only to the gameboy sound chip. Maybe trying a different chipset could help, giving you more options to experiment with the instruments.

Hey, is this a Game boy vibe? Cool!

My favourite:
Cinematic Trailer - cute)
Battle Theme - I wanted to dance to this theme... And danced!

Battle Victory! - Hey, I won!!

In general, it's a very aesthetic job. I love it!

Very nice work! The Cinematic Trailer was composed wonderfully, the mix across the board is fantastic, and that Battle Theme brought me back to being a kid again. Mission Accomplished! Well done!

This is a very well executed project! From the chiptune to the orchestral bits, it comes together really well! Excellent use of motif as well, and I love the concept behind it. It’s fantastic! Very imaginative and creative submission. Good work :]

I love the orchestral rendition and then the shift to the chips for the game! These are all super charming. I'm always amazed at how much can be done with only a few channels on the GB and you've done a great job making the world feel charming and alive. Nice work!

I love the use of chiptune and bringing your ideas to life with the orchestral arrangement. The main theme is catchy and you reuse it in some cool ways. 5 stars across the board!

Chiptune done well really is a gift for the soul ! GG ! Love the universe, the use of SFX. Cute as heck, formidable use of leitmotiv.

This is great. I especially like the sound effects, the sliding notes, and the use of silence; They add a lot of character to the tracks. The prompt is creative, and I could see these songs fitting perfectly in the game you described. The cover art is also really good.

I wouldn't call yourself "by no means a good composer yet"! These are great tracks and this submission is very imaginative with how you inserted yourself into it as a means of fitting the theme. Starting with a cinematic track for a trailer is an awesome choice. I especially love the sound effect-like bits that play in the title track, little flourishes like that definitely add a lot to it. The battle theme really reminds me a lot of Mega Man, I could see it fitting in perfectly in one of the NES games.

Overall, great submission! It feels really unique and nice.
