Wow, stunning use of particles, shaders, and general art direction! The sheer number of things that explode beautifully in this game is off the charts. Playing on a track pad was a little tough, so I'm glad you included the super easy difficulty for losers like me haha but overall I really had a great time from start to end credits. It looks like you're planning on releasing this on mobile, and I really think that's a great fit for something like this. Keep up the great work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing! I really appreciate any feedback! :D

I released an android version on itch, and I might on the Playstore. :)

This is gorgeous and super polished. The single-button control is an interesting use of the focus, but I do wonder what it would be like with more traditional controls for each action. I had a lot of trouble with the helicopter section near the end, it wasn't clear why I kept dying, but eventually I made it through and finished it (on normal mode; I'm too old for Jerry mode I think :) ). Excellent music and sounds. Great work!

The game is simple, consisting entirely of QTE. Having the action button be in different places, and having some fake out prompts keeps the player focused. Overall a fun experience.

The game is blurry. As soon as Jerry moves, he and all of the background blur (I think it's automatic anti-alias.) This is most noticeable during the slow motion.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! On lower framerates in the web version, the motion blur glitches out. It works fine for me since the frame rate is high enough. I would always recommend the downloadable version.

Visually stunning! The different events ever cool but i felt cheated when i would press the action button on time and still die

Submitted(+1)

Visually the game was nice, we had a look through some of your other projects and it seems like you've come up with quite a niche art style, so nice job on that!

In terms of application for the jam... we didn't really see any connection to multi use whatsoever, which was kind of the point (if we missed it, let us know and I'll happily be wrong!).

In terms of the game, it's clear you've put in a lot of work and it paid off! In terms of the jam however, I personally don't really think it was a very good submission to meet the criteria of the competition

Overall our critiques aren't directed at you as a dev, the game itself is quite well made!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I wanted to mention that you use a single button to do multiple things, so you "multi-use that button". And also the difficulty of the game ramps up so it Turns Up The Heat.
Thanks again and have a nice one! :D

This is a stunning game to look at, clearly a lot of work went into the particles and other visual effects. On top of that, the gameplay concept is unique and you did well with it.

The main issue I have is with the multiple helicopter section. The timing for that section feels so tight that, it felt like random chance whether I dodge the helicopters or not. In my mind, quick time events are just about reaction; if I do the thing in the time limit presented, I should be good. There were multiple times where I would click the button very quickly and still die. And this was on the default difficulty. That made it feel really unfair and I didn't finish the game because it.

Overall, I like the game. It's beautiful and the concept is awesome. It just turned into a rage game for me and I couldn't finish.

Absolutely stunning visually all round lighting and particle effects! Lot's of polish by the looks of it.
Is very cool for most of it but the simplicity of the gameplay does get a llittle repetitive before the end though.

The graphics are very attractive, especially the backgrounds. Lots of juicy game juice. The soundtrack rocks

The gameplay is very simple (what Zero Punctuation calls "Press X to Not Die"), but for a game of this length, I think it works. Overall, clever and polished, if a bit repetitive.

Great game! Nice visuals , nice sound, great little mechanic too!

Something that got a little frustating was if I miss click a button just by a bit it would not registrate or if i clicked just a bit too late it would also not go off. I if it would be neat to add a bit of grace space and period to the playe

Nice game non the less

Nice minimalist QTE game.

What I liked :

  • Great light and particle effects everywhere.
  • The atmosphere
  • The action to not perform.

What can be improved :

  • Browser version too laggy if you don't have a good PC.
  • A bit repetitive. As there is only an action, we expect some variations on story/background.

Hope it helps

Nice game ! Glorious VFX  )) and what a cool bandana !

Interesting idea of multi-use action.

The presentation is really stunning, with a ton of visual polish; unbelievable for a game jam! I think the biggest thing you could improve on is music. The melodic plucky synth became grating to the ear really quickly just because it wasn't tonally centered or memorable, and picking a key and staying inside it is a surefire way to avoid this. Not saying the music has to be catchy, but if you're going to use mostly one chord throughout the song has to be carried by some other musical aspect. That could be a strong melody, cool sound design, interesting layering, or many other things. I can tell you've got potential for good songwriting, please keep making more music!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I made this soundtrack during the jam, and did not have a lot of time, so it's surely not the best one.

What an eye candy! Great job!

Particle effects, music, and animation are spot on! I think the action buttons should probably be placed on the screen in some kind of predictable way, plays kinda like a quick time event though. Loved the little headband! Fun game.

Developer

Thanks for playing! :D

The game was alright, though once you got to the wave of helicopters flying at you, it was pretty much impossible as you had to press the buttons the moment they appeared, and since they appear randomly, you had to get lucky because you had next to no time to react before pressing it would fail. that being said, the artwork and sounds are great! I love all the affects and I wish I could have gotten to see what was after I got stuck.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for your feedback. It's not impossible, even on Jerry Mode, i tested everything out on every version. And they do not appear randomly.

Submitted(+1)

it seemed like it was random. was there actually a pattern to where the button appeared on the screen?

Developer

Oh, I tought you were talking about the helicopters! Sorry about that! Yes, the button is random. :)

Submitted(+1)

yeah. I was saying that since where the button appears is random, and you need to click it early to clear the jump over the helicopters, you don't really have the time needed to have the button appear, process where it is, move over to the button, and click it in the time span provided before the jump would fail and the helicopter fly into you. The helicopters flying in along with everything else were conveyed well with the large lines going down the screen to show when you needed to take action.

The visuals, character animation, particle effects, sound, and music make this game incredible for a game jam. I was stunned by all of that. I don't have much in the way of feedback except maybe to change the color of the action buttons you weren't supposed to press. I kept thinking I was too slow to click them and wondering why my character kept slamming into the wall. Other than that, phenomenal job! You got high ratings from me!

This game looks incredible! I love the juice that you added to it. It definitely sucked me in and made me want to keep going. I think adding a little more feedback to when the action button is clicked would be helpful because I was never really sure if I hit it or not until the animation happened. I can definitely tell you put a lot of work into this and this definitely a game to be proud of. It was fun, interactive, and had amazing visuals. The sound effects were on point, but the music was just a touch repetitive. Great work! Certainly one of the better games I have played so far :).

Thanks a lot for your feedback! It really means a lot to me. :D
