Nice game, I like the concept of using your shotgun recoil to jump over gaps as well as shooting. I don't love the hectic that the termometer brings, especially for level 4 it a bit too hard. Also the distance I juped with the shotgun seemed to vary which is a bit frustrating... and sometimes it didn't register my Inputs for shooting... But all in all cool Prototype, well done.
nice game but i kept just dying even though i was on safe ground?? like i would be in the center of the platform and it would play the falling animation and kill me. it happened so much to the point it would not even let me finish level 4 ._.
Thank you!
Oh, I poorly did my job ( Your comment is fifth that mentioned falling while standing on land. I ask same question - are you played on fullscreen? There thermometer in UI, that not visible on page mode. If that thermometer falls to zero - your character dies and level restarts. Maybe that happened?
In 4th level its really close run with thermometer. Levels need more testing.
i was playing full screen but there never seemed to be a thermometer
Hmmmmm it's unexpected. Sorry for trouble (
Most excelent work. I love the jumping mechanic. I think I ran into a bug on level 6 which caused me to die for what appeared to be no reason. I would say that it was causing me to die when I did not expect to on the water. I would have put the hit box as being in the water when you are 50/50 over the edge but i think it is as soon as you touch it. Minor things. I would have played many more levels and so that is a good think. Great job.
Wow! Thank you for reply! You too generous)
About bug - are you played on fullscreen? There thermometer in UI, that not visible on page mode. If that thermometer falls to zero - your character dies and level restarts. Maybe that happened? I mentioned on game description that fullscreen recomended, but it's my fault anyway.
Concept is a very good use of theme. Neat little puzzle solving. My only issue is the edge detection is a little off, id fall in when I was still on the land I could walk on.
Thank you for reply !
Oh, your comment is third that mentioned falling while standing on land. I ask same question - are you played on fullscreen? There thermometer in UI, that not visible on page mode. If that thermometer falls to zero - your character dies and level restarts. Maybe that happened?
I'll check collisions of course, but that bug continues to elude me (
Sorry for not so fun experience )
Well-designed puzzle game with built in tutorial through playing the game teaching the player what to do without giving direct instructions.
The movement is really the only thing that requires tuning to make the game play feel smoother. Alongside with that some polishing of the UI like showing the player is freezing by changing the borders of the screen turning into ice.
Overall, short and simple gets the point across straight away.
Thank you! Oh, I'm glad that you appreciate the built in tutorial. I wish I could spend more time on level design and manage to add two-three more maps.
I thought that showing thermometer is enough, but your "freezing border" idea is great!
Fun game! The artstyle is very cute, and I like the implementation of the theme. Sometimes I would die out of the blue or it at least didn't seem like I was touching anything.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the game !
About sudden deaths - are you played on fullscreen? There thermometer in UI, that not visible on page mode. If that thermometer falls to zero - your character dies and level restarts. Maybe that occure?
Cool concept, I enjoyed it, but some of the levels could use some work. Like on the (5th?) level you kind of just go left and right and left and right and it gets a little boring. Also some more sound effects and music could help a lot. Other than that though, nice game!
Thank you!
Completely agree with you! I totally neglected maps design and push it on last day, then last hour, then last minutes. It's a miracle that I managed to ship the game at all!
On next project I shall more wisely sort priorities.
Nice concept, I wish that you could shoot the shotgun a bit more frequently though. Also the art is really consistent.
Thank you!
At first was plans to "upgrade" gun to two barrel rifle, that can shoot twice before reload. But plans crushed by reality)
Nice implementation of the jam focus. It took me a few tries to figure out how to get across gaps, but I got there.
Unfortunately, this is marred by imperfect collision relative to where the lines appear to be. On a number of occasions, I found myself "falling" even though I was a good distance from the edge.
More sound effects would help with immersion, as would music. If you can't get a composer to collaborate with, there are free music assets available (generally requiring only attribution).
Thank you for responce!
Oh no! I thought, that I fixed all bugs with collisions! You played on fullscreen? There thermometer in UI, that not visible on page mode. If that thermometer falls to zero - you restart the level. Maybe that occur?
Yes, sound effects and music - totally agree with you! I had big plans for that aspect, but poor time management doesn't cooperate with my plans! Sounds were made in last hour before deadline. My bad. I'll be wiser next time.
I played on fullscreen, yes.
Time management is always frantic in these jams! :) I know what that's like...
I liked using the shotgun as a weapon and also for movement.
Puzzles were nice, the freezing timer added to the experience.
Nice one!
(I love how you turned the logs green when you've collected all of them, I did the same on mine, lol)
Thank you !
Oh, I wished I put more time on maps. They turned out small, so I tweaked thermometer for shorter levels. Glad you enjoyed game )
Nice little fun game.
I love your character design, it's cute. The other hand drawn art is also pretty nice, only the ground is a bit less cool but still fine.
The shooting mechanic works fine and fit the jam theme. Adding more speed to the push back of a shot is also pretty neat, although it's super easy to fall off the level. It could be a tiny bit more forgiving for my taste. But the shooting and the push back felt really good and powerful.
Good jam entry. Well done!
Oh thank you very much!
Yes , during the jam time flows differently - it seems that I played too much with character controller, but forgot to add and test maps =/
Oh, well, it will be a lesson.
"Oh, well, it will be a lesson." And this is the most important thing! :) Next time you know how the character controller works an can focus on something else.
This game is alot of fun I noticed the temp bar after trying full screen as you recommended , the art is simplistic but actually fits , and I like your approach to the focus and theme , its a well made game , the sfx is decent was hoping you had some music maybe a relaxing music of your choice but thats fine you get a solid rating from me fam!
Thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed game )
Yes, I definitely put music and sound on higher priority next time!
sometimes i would die on solid ground without any reason. other than that good game.
Thank you for the comment!
In the description I mentioned that fullscreen recomended, cause some UI not visible other way (( There are temperature mechanics - your character constantly froze and shooting gave you extra time.
Probably your character just froze.
I liked the gameplay but the sound hurts my ears a bit.
Thank you!
Sorry for sound ) Was in hurry , but without sound game feels wrong.
the character design is really cute
the gameplay is nice, i got stuck in the 3rd level for a couple of minutes, but was able to finish the game
we had a similar implementation of multiuse with the shooting knocking you and being used for movement
enjoyed paying it :)
Oh, thank you!
About 3rd level - I added in game description information about long jumps. Sorry, that you had trouble.
Oh! You have similar mechanics? I should check your game then )
Glad you had fun.
Pretty fun, and nice level design. It was interesting how many ways you could use the gun. The art could have been a bit nicer, and I would have liked some background music
Oooh, you too generous! Thank you!
Had plans for music, but busted all deadlines and music was sacrificed. For good, i think.
The idea is good and I like the graphic style. The instructions and mechanics are not explained anywhere, I had to read the comments and then re-play to understand you could jump-shoot. The movement is a tad frustrating (having acceleration makes you easily fall into the abyss, so it's hard to control). The sound you made for the shot is too loud and frankly annoying. I'm sure you can polish this small prototype and turn it into a very enjoyable game.
Thank you for the response! Though I pleased with game control, but I admit that level design not suitable for such fast movement. About jump-shooting I just thought that it's a very common mechanics. Probably it's better add it on game description. Thanks for idea!
Sorry for sound, was in a hurry (10 minutes before deadline!) and just throw on the game what first came from sound generator. (
Looks good
Thanks! First time tried using pen tablet with aseprite. Quite fast, but not pixel perfect)
I loved flinging myself around the map with the gun, super fun
Oh! Thank you. Though I spent much time playing with a controller and neglecting other concepts of the game though (
Nice! Quite fun
Thank you!
